    I own an Ekelund axe, which is broadly comparable to the GB small forest axe. I must say the edge of the bit is not soft. It will take a shaving sharp edge for feathering, food prep etc and will still split adequately. It has middling weight but is amazingly well balanced with the head and the helve. Also in terms of the layout of the head. It is in any terms, an outstandingly fine axe. I would not hesitate to recommend it over say a GB small forest axe, because you could buy a mora heavy duty knife and a decent ferro rod and a few other things besides with the difference

      I just got one of these. I love it. I’m glad I chose it over the GB Small Forest axe. The craftsmanship on this axe is unreal

      @@1mataleo1 Ya I use to have the Hultafors Small Forest axe. Slightly diffrent then the Aby Id like to get the aby next time. My friend ! Can you please measure the edge for me ? I can not find the measurment online ! Not even on there website PS Hultafors has wicked customer service and 50 year or lifetime warrenty. Grans Burks is good to but I like Hultafors more myself.

      Sure. I just measured the edge. It measures 3.25 inches or 8.255 centimeters.

    Was doubting between these 2 axes. You let me make my decision.
    Going for the Ekelund

    I think the Ekelund head on a 24" haft would be ideal, I'd buy that in a heartbeat. I want something in a 24-26" length, still short enough to be backpackable but a lot more useful for chopping vs. 20 inches and under.

      Take a look at the hultafors Qvarfot. It looks like the same axehead (exactly the same weight) on a 26 inch haft without the ground/polished poll. The profile might be different but probably not by a lot.

      @@VinDub18 This is an excellent suggestion.

      I pack both. For hunting I prefer a short haft, for game or small chores, the longer handle is a hindrance, if all you need it for is cutting and felling, then definitely a longer haft. They both have their place.

      That's the GFB Scandinavian forest axe, give an inch.

    I just want to tell everyone here that bushcraftcanada is a good company to do buisness with. So is Hultafors axe and If I remember right they have like a 50 year or lifetime warrenty any defects they return with no problem. Hell I even asked the guy if he could pick me one that is 1 darker color for the handle rather then a 2 tone witch is just a lil prefrence and he did it for me.

    What is the total weight for the ABY

  • @paulhomsy2751
    @paulhomsy2751 2 года назад

    I believe you mixed terms @ 3.17, the two pounds head, gives it more momentum, not "inertia".

    • @bushcraftcanadastore
      @bushcraftcanadastore  2 года назад

      Yes inertia is force applied when the head meets the wood?(impact ), if I have that wrong, please let me know!
