21 years later and this means more now in america than ever.
He was good doing his thing in the early nineties. Time has only made him better. Great song.
Honestly, Mark Collie is one of the best, dang, I feel bad for people who haven't heard your music!
Great song
Love this song
Mark Collie is a great singer as well an actor. The movie that I really like and enjoy is kill switch. He plays an awesome roll as a bad man. Thank you Mark for all your talent.
Bless
same old kick ass country long live MARK !!!!!!!!!!!
It's not "new" material, as this was made in 2001 despite its 2012 release. But this song should have been huge, and I am hugely grateful to whomever let this video be released. Mark Collie should be an icon right now, having sounded like country's direction for years already. I hope he's got another album idea left, as his original material has moved me for 14 years and counting.
Mark Collie, you are amazing! I remember listening to you when you first came to the country scene. What an awesome singer, you are!!!! Class act performer !!!!!!!!!!!
This is my favorite song of all time. Mark is brilliant. Love you Mark!
I sure love this video. Don't know how many times I have listened. Gosh Mark, you
sure know how to sing a song. You sound as great now, as you did when you first appeared in the early 90's. This is pure country music!!!! And I mean Pure Country music!!!!!!!!1
"On the day I die" - a timeless song with a deep message touching the heart of all in the place.
Great song....

Don't know how many times I've viewed this video, but it's the same, such a underateted singer. I love this song!!!!!!! There is a message in it!!!! I remember when Mark Collie appeared on the scene. He sings a song now, like he did in the early
1990's. I compare it to "Even the man in the moon is crying". Mark Collie you are a
very talented singer! Every CD you put out, I have!!!!! Keep it coming.
The Power of a Song.

Great performance Mark on a great song brother. I met you back in 1992 in Ventura,Ca. You were playing the fair there in support of "Even the man in the moon" album. Boy howdy opened for you. You have always been my favorite country artist and now I know why, we serve the same Master. I hope to meet you again and will include you in my prayers. Antonio a.k.a. Alvarez Kelly
Why is this not on Tic Tok I've looked for it and can't find it why is this
He's amazing
I always thought I was going to meet someone like him when I was a teenager . Someone who drove an old pick-up truck and wore blue jeans and a white T-shirt . I thought he was gonna be that boy that played a guitar and sang . Someone that was going to just love me to death , but I didn't.... instead I married someone who was quite the opposite of that . Been married 30 years . Not sure if it's always been about love , but I'm still here because I do love my kids . They are all grown now . Now we have these beautiful grandchildren . I think I stay because of them. That's love enough for me...see...!!
Great song , fantastic delivery & Performance

Mark Collie - On the day I die
Acoustic chords by Ariel Massillo
Standard E tuning.
The overall song has 4 chords and some arrangements I learned by ear on the intro (and one more that I didn't figure out yet in the last part of the chorus).
Intro
E - A - E - A
When switching from E to A it does 0 - 4 on the 6th string followed by 2 slide to 4 on the 5th and falling on the A chord.
Then from A to E: 0 on the 5th (three times) followed by 4 - 2 - 4 on the 6th and falling back on E.
---------
E C#m
I have stolen, the dreams from an angel's eyes
A B
I've given into the --- of my neighbour's wife.
E C#m
And I've lied to you, and everyone else.
A B
I dishonored my father and mother for the glory of self.
Chorus
A E
Every rule I couldn't break, I was hellbound to bend
C#m A
And I shattered and scattered all with one
B
Of my lord's tears.
A C#m
But he kept his hand on me, kept my faith alive
A E B
It will carry me home I pray
E
On the day I die.
----------------------------------------------------
Back to intro (one time E - A)
----------------------------------------------------
I have taken, the blood of an innocent life
And I stood in the darkness unshaken
at the point of a knife
And I ran from the lights
just like I ran from it all
but you know the wages of sin
catches up with us all
Chorus
In the morning will come
And i...
And the preacher will read from the book
while they're shaving my head.
But when I close my eyes
All this pain will be gone
And be in heaven or hell
At least I'll be home.
Chorus
SomeGuy thanks for the chords awesome
I have given in to the coveted lust of my neighbors wife
I have shattered and scattered all but one of my Lord's ten
And I ran from the light just like I ran from the law
In the morning they'll come and I'll break my last bread
What was the one he didn't bend?
You remind me of Johnny cash in his prime
What Prison is That ?

I quess this is a 'captive audience'. Huh?
Mark doesn't need a captive audience for his performances. One of the greatest country singers of all time.
Hell I hate to say it
But I liked it.
I just hope he's wasn't
Braggin about bein a scumbag all his life.
Great song....
Every rule I couldn't break, I was hell bound to bend...
