Visiting the most beautiful beach in New Zealand!!
We drove from Whitianga to Pokohino Beach and it took us roughly 4 hours to get there.
There is a dirt road for 30 mins of the drive and a 20-25min bush walk from the parking area.
We got to the beach during peak sun hours 12-1pm and there was plenty of shade close to the rocky bits on the beach but, I would recommend bringing some shade with you and lather on the sunblock! The beach closes at 7pm for cars and opens at 7am but, we saw many people walking to and from the beach on the gravel road.
Bring proper walking shoes - I walked in sandals and they were sliding everywhere so, I took them off and got a really big splinter stuck in my foot.. ouch!
This beach is so incredibly beautiful and made me feel like I was in Greece or Bali for the day. I've seen many people gate-keep this beach and I honestly understand why! But, if you do visit please take your rubbish with you and just be respectful of the enviroment and enjoy the beauty that New Zealand has to offer! I'm sure there are still plenty of beaches like this one that will be discovered over the years!
