Abou that even its Remake for Yatsura only got a UK only English dub it never aired in the USA at all on TV both both versions in fact the only Urusea Yatsura that existed AS AMERICAN English dub was the Beautiful Dreamer movie and even THAT movie only aired in the USA like 30 years AFTER it aired in Japan and the Sci Fy Cable channel ONLY aired that movie only once.

I used to have to travel 110 miles to another city to buy new Ranma 1/2 VHS tapes with only two episodes on each tape. And they were $30.00 each. AND WE LOVED IT! One of my favorite shows of all time. So we have this and the new Batman the Animated Series episides coming out. It's like we're going back in time to the good days!
I was born in 91. And ranma 1/2 was my first anime. I remember renting the VHS at Blockbuster. Right next to pokemon....i guess pokemon was my first, but that was the americanized version. I consider ranma to be my first true anime

I come back to it over and over and Ranma and Akane and Ryoga and Ukyo and Shampoo and all of them live in my head rent free. This is such a gift. Also I live in NY so I will definitely have to go!!
Video game nerd here, japan had a bunch of ranma video games. We only got the second fighter under the ranma name, the first had a whole localization change and took out the ranma license. Hoping for another one done in modern times!
The third and last game on the snes of ranma 1/2 is still play on fighting game tournaments today. If the remake proves to be popular a pipe dream of mine would be if arc system works would make a 2D fighting game of Ranma 1/2. I'll will go completely nuts.
I got into Ranma back in 1995. The summer before entering High School. I remember going to Media Play to buy each VHS tape with two episodes each for $24.95. When the series started coming out on DVD and we got three episodes per, I thought that was amazing. I collected this series for 9 years, and the manga even longer. This was THE anime of my teenage years and it remains my favorite anime of all time. I'm cautiously optimistic about this remake. I ship Ryoga and Ukyo so hard.
Ukyo deserves the best, honestly one of the most raw deals of the troop. She is someone who could keep Ryoga in check, just FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON"T SEND HIM TO PICK UP ANYTHING FROM THE STORE!
The original Ranma 1/2 was the reason I started watching anime, way back in 2011! (Born in 1993) I remember watching the movie preview in one of my Pokémon VHS tapes (didn’t know what it was at the time, lol). Sure, I watched the original Pokémon and Lupin the 3rd during my younger years, but didn’t treat them as anime at the time. When I rediscovered the preview from my Pokémon VHS tapes, I immediately started watching Ranma 1/2 during my last two years of High School. This is personally one of my favorite works from Rumiko Takahashi. I considered it to be my FIRST anime! Can’t wait for the newer version! 😎😍😁🤩
SO excited for this remake!! I was born in '88 in Buenos Aires and grew up watching Ranma. It used to be on TV when I got back from school! It's been my absolute favorite show since then, I rewatch it every few years. I can wait to see what they do in this new version, it looks amazing so far. Thank you for this cool video! I am sooooo hyped about this! I loved this anime in the 90s and still own a lot of Takahashi's manga. Mermaid Scar was also one of my favorites from her. It's been a long time, but I'm going to enjoy this one!
A shame they didn't do anything new with the remake Urusei Yatsura series and not a big fan of the highly saturated colors and the hair do's and the fast pace that took out the drama and even sad moments

One of my first anime that I ever got into. I bought the VHS out of a mail-in catalog. Such a stellar show! I was just talking about how things like Inuyasha were getting brought back and how Ranma never got a proper ending. I really hope they give this a proper ending. Now I just need Birdy the Mighty and Blue Seed to come back, maybe Guyver too?
It would have been better if they had made a movie; for example, the last book with the Phoenix King is worth a whole movie. (and please not like that real-life action movie; that was just junk) But this is just a remake... maybe because they lost some copyright rights again with all these switching... it happens so often with their anime 😅
Ranma was my first anime. I used to download and watch these off Napster. I did buy the seven seasons set you talked about. In fact i watched the series, ova, and Movies in 2020. I been saying for years they need to remake this. I cannot wait. I know the original never finished all 38 volumes of the Anime. I hope they get through the whole story. I am excited.

Here in Latin America people went nuts on social media when the Ranma ½ remake was announce, because the original series was one of the most popular anime, along with Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z and Pokémon in the late '90s. In fact, some of the original dub cast from the original Mexican dub of Ranma ½ reunited via video conference the day after this remake was announced. I hope that the for the Neutral Spanish dub the original cast can reprise their roles, just like how most of the original Japanese cast is coming back

I do know that she was ill (or needed surgery) during the 6th season of the anime, so they got Angela Costain's/ Nabiki voice actress' sister to do the voice. It was a pretty close rendition. I do hope they get as many of the voice actors to return as they can. Hell, the voice actor for Demiurge in Overlord is an airline pilot and he still voice acts for shows. Probably mostly for fun at this point.
Just like with Urusei Yatsura, MAPPA probably has has about 46 episodes to get through the entire series. I just want them to get through the manga especially when it comes to Ranma's mom.
If they take out the episodic nature and make it serialized to the major character/move set arcs and distill it down to a year in world time then it is doable.
Got two concerns about this. First, you almost never see remakes because the anime industry's strength is its ability to push out new stories. I don't mind a remake once in a while but I really do not want this to become a trend. Second is that this is exclusive to Netflix which makes me wonder how much meddling will occur. It is hard to imagine all the nudity or characters like Happosai getting included if Netflix censors has anything to say about it. Here's hoping the marketing ain't dumb enough to claim they are making this for a modern audience.
Well yeah, it's getting a remake cause the OG anime is not true to the manga/strays alot from it. Not cause it's so good or whatever you people like to belive when remakes are in question. Remaking somethjng perfect just cause it's sooooo awesome aint a reason for it.
the very sad thing is... it looks exactly the same as the classic. Even the new Lum anime looks different. I think they should modernize the anime. The story boarding and everything is just absolutely identical...
But the ENGLISH DUB never Got a CABLE TV version but most of the VIZ Media actors from back then are either DEAD or retired so I'm not even sure VIZ media COULD ENGLISH DUB it at least NOT using the original actors they had back then.
I know that its just that Ranma DID get a ENGLISH Dub but most BOTH the English dub and Japanese dub actors are both either retired or dead so even if this Reboot does GET a ENGLISH dub it won't end up using the VIZ media dub 1993 to 2007 Actors in it at all.
math hard 2024-1989=35 i don't like how remakes mess with established visuals of the previous shows, both urusei yatsura and now ranma have subtle changes like eye colors or eyeliners that would bother anyone with ocd it would be nice to get the ocean studio cast back on the dub , but this is sadly less likely the most people are talking about in the comments is fear of show being consored which is wierd way to say rewriten for current less mature audience i just don't know how the old humor would translate to today without someone being ofended, because let's face it ranma is sexy pig as shampoo called him and his transformation is a curse he only tolerates out of not being able to revert it. he is a guy with ocasional girl's body and not much of a feminist

I love ❤️ ranma 1/2. It's the greatest anime I ever watched, ( second greatest only because the remake of Furits Basket is amazing) I have the vhs tapes and the DVD. Ranma is also one of the few anime that never got aired on tv like sailor moon or dragon ball because it's more than a little bit queer. Also the sex jokes and the nudity. I can't wait for the remke. Btw remake ghost in the shell, late 2025 or early 2026

I know that its just that Ranma DID get a ENGLISH Dub but most BOTH the English dub and Japanese dub actors are both either retired or dead so even if this Reboot does GET a ENGLISH dub it won't end up using the VIZ media dub 1993 to 2007 Actors in it at all.

i don't like how remakes mess with established visuals of the previous shows, both urusei yatsura and now ranma have subtle changes like eye colors or eyeliners that would bother anyone with ocd
it would be nice to get the ocean studio cast back on the dub , but this is sadly less likely
the most people are talking about in the comments is fear of show being consored which is wierd way to say rewriten for current less mature audience i just don't know how the old humor would translate to today without someone being ofended, because let's face it ranma is sexy pig as shampoo called him and his transformation is a curse he only tolerates out of not being able to revert it. he is a guy with ocasional girl's body and not much of a feminist

I love ❤️ ranma 1/2. It's the greatest anime I ever watched, ( second greatest only because the remake of Furits Basket is amazing) I have the vhs tapes and the DVD. Ranma is also one of the few anime that never got aired on tv like sailor moon or dragon ball because it's more than a little bit queer. Also the sex jokes and the nudity. I can't wait for the remke. Btw remake ghost in the shell, late 2025 or early 2026
