Hey guys. thanks for clicking on my video! I have owned the Y40 for about 5 months now, and wanted to give my lasting impressions on this case before I switch to another case. Let me know what you think! Great video, Dan. Long term reviews always shows much more details that we could have never thought of during the first 1 or 2 weeks of using the product.
You helped me from your previous videos when fitting the aio cooler inside the hp omen obelisk case, in which has been a huge success (I also fitted 3 noctua fans and now my pc is running cool and fast) thank you for this :D
A bit late here, but I have the y40 case and I love it. I ended up solving the airflow issues by using a NF-S12A fan in the bottom slot, it is designed to disperse air rather than focus it. That along with going for a 240mm AIO on top resulted in a positive air pressure in the case. As noted in the video, the looks and cable management are impeccable. Awesome case, but does require some special attention.
You mentioned the power supply issue and how you fixed it. I ran into a similar issue but I didn’t exchange the power supply, I just took out the extender cables. Extension cables could also have been the point of failure where they work better with some power supplies
my friend wants me to help rebuild her computer and this was one of the cases we were looking at. She loved the look of my y70, but wanted something smaller. I noticed the fan situation wouldn't let me get positive pressure with the setup. I could use reverse blade fans and have the back and top fans as intake with a 240 aio exhaust on the side, but i just don't know if i like that.
Had that random shutoff with my red devil 6950x, luckily it started directly after install and the first checks. After some diagnostics i saw that my GPU run into 100° Range, asked the manufacturer if repasting would void my warranty. After that they allowed me to repaste, after that the temps barely hit 70°. But the system still shuts off. Had some mail contact with Powercolor, they gave me the advice to check my PSU. So i bought a Seasonic 750W Platinum Version to replace the 650W PSU. After that the issue was gone. The 650 should have been enough, but AMD Cards in Particular seem to create nasty Wattage Spikes and draw a lot of Amps for short bursts.
I think the most proboematic with this kinf of casese 2/4 glass are the temperatures. I dont know what case is good on it. But i was watching many different models and all of them has the same problem.
Hey Dan, I need a smaller “fish bowl” type case, like the Y40, but i’m not wild on the looks. It needs to fit an atx size psu, and it needs to be white. is there any chance you could recommend me one like this if you do know? Huge fan btw
@@DanKamYouKnow I like the Y40 but i have a small desk, so i’d need to look at something the same style but a bit narrower. Thank you for your help man, you the goat fr 🙏🙏🙏
I built my girlfriend's new system in this cause she's always had the ugliest cheapest computer cases I said we should splurge on getting something actually nice looking I still think we should have gone with the king 95 but she didn't want something that big hers is red and so is my case it's a really great looking couples gaming setup
hey, I got my prebuilt omen obelisk in 2019 and my cpu is above 60 degrees while im just on the home screen. I was thinking about adding a top fan as exhaust. Do you think I should change thermal paste aswell? Or should I just install a fan to the top? Will this lower the temps? :)
Idle temps are pretty irrelevant and there’s too many variables with it idling ( so many different background apps can cause higher idle temps ). Place your CPU and GPU under load and let me know what those temps are. The best thing you could do is change the case actually. All of those pre-builds have horrible airflow and a new case, really opens you up to better thermals.
@@DanKamYouKnow the cpu runs about 80 degrees and in some cases it gets over 90 degrees on bigger games😅 I really want my pc to cool down before the release of Starfield, cus i dont wanna buy a brand new pc just for one game. Im trying the cheapest solutions here to make it go down just some degreeses. I dont feel like changing the whole chassi either just because im not that good at building computers and I dont want to mess things up.
No where near the worst but also not great, agreed. Warriors roster is looking STRONG though. Poole and Draymond dynamic was never going to work in the long term
I love all on this case.... Buuuut..... I really... REALLY HATE THE HEIGHT. I returned it because looks horrible when you put an aio pump. Ii eats a big part of the mobo and touches the ram mempry and the light looks horrible. What happen to the designers of hyte? Only one inche more high and they so intelligent to dont do it???? Really????

I wish more people did long term reviews of products. Great video.
I agree! Thanks for the support as always.

Thank you so much! Totally agree. Going to have to start doing more

I moved back into my hyte y40 that I moved out of in January. The Nzxt H6 is so big!
Loving the setup Dan🔥 so clean
Thank you!!!!

So glad you don’t have to worry about saggy brackets. 🥰
🤣🤣🤣🤣
The price of this dropped to $130 recently, this is a case im DEFINITELY looking forward to getting.
Great video, Dan. Nice looking build. Too bad about the power supply.
Thanks Fredo! Just glad I figured it out. Rather has a PSU go out then my 3080 🤣

How about the Snow White Y60:

Or the slightly bigger Y70:
amzn.to/3SFveO4
Is that the shape you are going for?

it’s actually the opposite way around lol his next video was about switching to that one

Adding fans will make a very minor difference in temps. It will help but not a whole lot.
@@DanKamYouKnow and thermal paste?
Very minimal
Jp3 traded to the wizards 😡 btw the hyte y40 is prob one of the worst airflows cases
