Amber’s apology to Australia was about as poor acting as she was on the witness stand.
I think she was intentionally smug 😏
The fact that she lied about them, tried to get someone to “grease a vet” to fake immunization records, was told by Johnny not to bring them and did anyway, had the balls to smuggle them in and then brought them to a groomer almost parading around the dogs instead of keeping them inside and was the only one who lied time after time but yet blames Johnny for letting her “take the blame” blows my mind. She really expected him to take the fall for the consequences and save her when he was the one who said not to bring them. It’s even on tape of her yelling at him for it after she was the only one investigated and faced charges for it. She even roped Johnny into making that hostage situation apology when he had nothing to do with it and I think that was above and beyond what he even needed to do and she should’ve been happy with that.

@@debraperon6083 Actually Depp has never been fined for lying about bringing his dog into Australia. It isn't even clear as to how he got a way with it. In the British trial evidence surfaced that looked like there had been a measure of government corruption to let Depp off.

OJ Simpson suffered greatly for murdering Nicole and Ron even though he was acquitted, but his arrogance got the better of him and he was sent to prison for robbery in Las Vegas, and everyone said the 33 year prison sentence was payback for Nicole and Ron. Same could happen with Amber. She may get the longest sentence possible partially out of revenge for what she did to Johnny Depp.

And with very good reason - up until one week ago, Australia was the ONLY country on the planet not to have the varroa mite (look it up if you're unfamiliar with it). I'm a beekeeper who is living in fear that I will have to destroy my bees, as well as the hives, because I live (only!) a couple of hundred kilometres away from the outer zone from where the mites were discovered. And if I'm unfortunate enough to have to destroy my hives, then it will be SEVERAL YEARS before I can once again have bee hives on my property again! The agricultural impact that this will have can't be emphasised strongly enough. So, for people like Amber Heard to blatantly disregard our bio-security laws, and then to publicly mock us is absolutely disgusting, and I will be pressuring my local Federal politician for him to also put forward the case for Amber to be extradited for prosecution. She deserves nothing less as far as I'm concerned.

If you study Australia, you'll see it's actually an island continent.

however, by simple definition, Australia IS an island.

The fact that someone's idea of a solution for themselves is to find someone to fake some paperwork shows that this person just can't do the right thing! Not only would that be a serious offence but she'd be paying off someone else to put their job on the line. She thinks about no one but herself. I am from Australia and to be fair some of our flora and fauna is already struggling from various introduced pests and disease enough as it is. She honestly should have thought of the devastation she could have caused, it takes a lot less than a teacup pup to unleash a threat to our environment. Depp didn’t have anything to do with this but he sat there and publicly apologised, he’s a good man. Conversely it looked like Heard was forced to apologise and she wasn’t actually sorry.

How is it still "under investigation" 7 years later? It involves 2 dogs being brought into the country and not declared. It takes longer than 7 years to determine whether or not it happened? Sounds like typical gov't bureaucrats not doing their job.
Well. JD filed for his case in Jan 2019 and it didn't see a courtroom till May 2022. 3 yrs later. Pandemic set everything back. There are alot more people committing crimes these days and there isn't enough employees and such to process them in a timely manner. My Uncles Probate case took 5 yrs and it was a simplified case. It's happening in all justice systems. backed up to the hilt.

I honestly find it pretty funny as an Australian how our judicial system has inadvertently become the next act in Depp/Heard saga. Especially as when it first happened American news channels everywhere mocked Australia’s laws and completely ignored why we have the rules (to protect our ecosystem from diseases like rabies).
It would definitely be better to get Australian experts to talk though.

Australian here, who has worked in the Attorney-General's Department (Office of the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions and Office of the Australian Government Solicitor) in Canberra (our nation's capital) - with all due respect, our Government doesn't have as much money to throw around like the US government does! There are systems and processes that need to be done (thoroughly) when the investigation is happening to ensure that they get everything they need, as well as to re-examine the evidence they already had at the time when Amber brought the dogs into Australia, along with new evidence (eg. Amber's testimonies in the UK trial and the US trial). Gathering this new evidence takes time (eg. Court transcripts from the UK trial, and Court transcripts and video of Amber's testimony in the US). Once the lawyers who have been assigned to investigate the case have finished gathering their 'new' evidence and referring to our laws regarding such new evidence, they will then make a recommendation to the Attorney-General on whether this 'new' evidence warrants further criminal proceedings against Amber. It will then be up to the Attorney-General to decide if Australia will commence criminal proceedings against Amber. I am NOT privvy to 'inside' knowledge on how the case is progressing within the Australian Attorney-General's Department, but having worked there my assumption is that the Attorney-General must then weigh up whether it's in Australia's interests to pursue criminal proceedings against Amber, considering there is every likelihood that she will not be able to afford lawyers in Australia, or to pay any fine the Court (may) impose on her in such proceedings, should she be found guilty. I hope this gives you some insight into our system.
