    *Please, be sure to wear a face mask or respirator when handling the SCI powder. I definitely wear a face mask, but I didn't mention that in the video.* You may also use SCI noodles instead of the SCI powder. If you use SCI noodles you don't need a face mask because nothing disperses into the air with the noodles.

BTW I will be using jojoba oil as opposed to rice bran oil -- it's an oil that I really enjoy working with. (My testing will also be "soap" and "scrub" option -- )

      Hi & thank you!
      Yes you can! It'll be a shaving "soap" cream because it does have a high concentration of surfactants. But it's super thick and creamy! You can add additional glycerin if you want to play with the consistency a bit and give it even more slip for shaving.

      Hi! & thank you!! 🩷 Are you referring to Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate (SLSA)? Either way, yes Sodium cocoyl isethionate (SCI) is a different ingredient. SCI is derived from coconut and very mild with a soft skin feel while still being very bubbly. I hope this helps!

    I have recently bought 2 formulas include this video and pumpkin scrubs, so do i have to wear poison resistant mask when i use SCI?

    • @TheFluffyBubble
      @TheFluffyBubble  9 месяцев назад

      Yes, you will see number 5 in the formula ingredients in the description box here and in the formula packet I've listed face masks and a respirator. You do need to wear a face mask or respirator while handling SCI powder. I forgot to mention it in the video, but I wear a face mask and handle SCI powder delicately so it doesn't fly everywhere.
      You can alternatively use SCI noodles which do not require a mask because it won't disperse into the air. However, the noodles will take linger to melt during heating. Thanks for your question! 🫧

    • @TheFluffyBubble

      No it doesn't. It stays soft as long as you keep it in an airtight container. For scrubs, I usually add at least 7% more oils to the mix which makes it softer as well.

      Hi! I appreciate you asking questions, thank you! I don't refrigerate it. I just leave it at room temperature to cool. I typically wait about 3-4 days to use it for whipped soap, because it does soften a bit over time making it easier to whip.

    • @TheFluffyBubble

      Thank you so much!
      I made the first batch of this specific formula in 2020 before I even thought of selling products, and I still have a jar of it. It still looks how it did the day I made it and smells great.
      That being said, I haven't gotten microbial testing so I always recommend using it within 6 months & I make it to order for The Fluffy Bubble. However, there's pretty much no chance it will actually expire in that timeframe.
      Your best bet to be the most certain, without official testing, is to go by the expiration dates of your raw ingredients. Suppliers list the expiration date of the ingredients on the packaging. As long as your final product is properly preserved with an effective preservative, your product should at least be good through the raw ingredients' soonest expiration date.
      I hope that helped! Thanks for subbing and for your question! 🩵🩵

      No. Not instead of SCI. SCI is a solid not a liquid. Your soap won't have the same texture and wont be solid enough to whip.

      It's extremely bubbly and has a wonderful lather. Especially with a loofah or shower puff! I haven't had any issues with deflation during hot or cold months. It's very thick and more dense. It's not as airy as many whipped soaps so it's very stable.

    Can we add other oil and butters to this recipe?

    • @TheFluffyBubble
      @TheFluffyBubble  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes! This formula is a "blank canvas" type of formula. You can definitely use it as-is. But you can also had a decent amount of additional glycerin, oils, butters and other additives. The formula includes 1% preservative. So when adding water-based additives especially, make sure you add additional preservative at 1% of what you're adding to keep your final product at 1% preserved. For example: If you add 30 g hydrosol also add 0.3 g additional Optiphen (or your preferred preservative).

    Do you find it’s cheaper to make your base or buy the pre made base? The Sci powder is pretty expensive.

    • @TheFluffyBubble
      @TheFluffyBubble  6 месяцев назад

      Hi! It's cheaper (but not necessarily cheap) for me to make what I actually like and what to use on my skin and sell. I don't like any bases I've tried so it's definitely more expensive if I buy it and dont use it. 😄 So it's not all about the $, but also about the quality and the ingredients that I'd prefer use (and not use) on my skin.
      This formula creates a more moisturizing and better cleansing experience than I've had with any store bought bases I've tried. Also, SCI does get cheaper when purchased in bulk. The site links I use are in the formula download. I always keep an eye out for supplier coupons and deals too. Every little bit helps. Thanks so much for watching!!

    I want to add some more butters & oils, how much would you recommend to add? Like a maximum?

    • @TheFluffyBubble
      @TheFluffyBubble  8 месяцев назад

      That's totally up to you! I'd start out adding an additional 10% or so and seeing how that goes. The formula has a high concentration of surfactants, so you should be able to add a decent amount of extra oils and butters.
      With the additional butters/oils you'll have to decrease in other areas. So keep that in mind when thinking about how you want your final soap base to perform. Too much could begin to impact how much it lathers, the skin feel, and cleansing performance. So, it really depends on what your goals are for your final product.

    • @cocokiss1637

      It's really up to you depending on what you're trying to achieve. I'd probably start with taking some from the surfactants. But, I prefer the formula as-is. So, any changes are really to your preference and you'll have to experiment to figure out what you like.

      It depends on the batch size. Melting time can vary because SCI takes a little while to melt, so when there's a lot it takes longer. I'd definitely check on it after an hour, give it a stir and if it's not melted check on it every 15 minutes or so. You want it to be totally melted which means no grit in the texture. I purchased this formula and i love it! I did add a bit more glycerin and oils. Is there a reason why you prefer less glycerin? I'm curious 😆

    • @TheFluffyBubble
      @TheFluffyBubble  8 месяцев назад +5

      Thank you!! And yes 😄. Kind of a long explanation below (sorry!😆).
      I started out making whipped soaps with formulas that had a lot of glycerin and water in the base formula. While I liked them ok. I didn't like the stickiness (glycerin) or how super fluffy it would get, because I couldn't get a lot into the jar since it was so airy and it would sometimes easily deflate.
      So, after a lot of experimenting I realized that additional glycerin and water can be added AFTER the base is made as long as I also add the appropriate additional preservative.
      Having that flexibility with a base formula can help you create the right amount airiness and the right texture for your final product, without needing to make a whole new base batch every time or trying to figure out how to change the base formula right away. You can just add more in your final whipped soap, foaming scrub, shaving soap formulas/recipes. -- Hope that helped! - Dominique
