Yes! Louis XIV put his grandson the Duke of Anjou on the French throne - the details escape me, but that was the whole point of the War of the Spanish Succession, when the last Habsburg (inbred, imbecile, infertile) died, I believe he was Charles... I'm probably getting all confused with Churchill, who defeated Louis XIV at the Battle of Blenheim and was as a result created Duke of Marlborough (I grew up quite close to Blenheim Palace). If you dig deep enough you will probably always find some at least shady circumstances which were the foundations of the current wealth of these figures. For instnce the real wealth from the Liechtensteins resulted from the fact that two brothers Liechtenstein converted to catholicism and sided with the emperor in his struggle with the bohemian nobility (which caused the 30 years war). The emperor and his cronies were successful in virtually beheading the nobility and taking their property. And large chunks of land were handed over to the Liechtensteins as a reward. One of them became vice roi of Bohemia.
It's "Grove-nah", not "Gros-venor"... And I think you're probably forgetting some of the Italian nobility here! Or the Spanish - what about the Dukes of Alba, who are fabulously wealthy? I think that at this level, it's very difficult to establish a "net worth" - so much wealth is held in land holdings, buildings or art collections...

The Spanish Royal family are distantly related to him and rarely want anything to do with him because of both his claim to the French throne, French styles and French titles, they don't want trouble with France, as well as him being Franco's great grandson!
No Duke is the great grandson of Franco. One married the granddaughter of Franco. King Felipe of Spain is the most Royal of all Europeans. On his mother side descended from the Danish RF and Grece RF on his father side he is a Bourbon descended from the French Sun King Louis the XIV.
His wife is the one with the money
@@zaidett her father to be precise. We all he's a gold digger like father like son!
@@marielonsdale1765 what are you talking about? Who's talking about Felipe? No one! First you say he say he, the supposed Duke of Anjou, is not Francos great grandson, and then you say he is the son of Francos granddaughter? Which one is it?
@@jav9069 The Duke of Anjou is Franco's great-grandson. His father married Franco's granddaughter Maria del Carmen Martinez-Bordiu y Franco.
Interesting seems that some have increased their pot through investments which was aided by their inheritance s amazing but them money tends to attract money
If bullshit was music, we would have a brass band here...
For goodness sake…please learn to pronounce the names and titles correctly!
I would remake the video as there are lots of mistakes. When speaking about Rafael de Medina, 20th Duke of Feria you are showing photos of his brother Luis, among many other mistakes. It could have been a very interesting video.
It’s grove-nor
It was be nice to have someone who really knew the subject! So many mistakes and important information… the Duke of Anjou is married to Franco’s heir. What about the Duke of Alba???
Wow! I didn't realise that there were any Bourbon family members still living.
Is this the same family of Louis XIV and XVI?
Yes. The 2nd grandson of Louis XIV (through his son the Grand Dauphin) became King Philip V of Spain. The Bourbons are descended from him. The Duke of Anjou is also the great-grandson of Spanish dictator Franco.
So yes, the Spanish royal family are officially Bourbons, descendants of Louis XIV, but of course they are also related to German nobility through marriages with the British royal family - yes, our royal family is German! Speaking as a Brit, please note.
@@tobyalleyne-gee8966 The Duc d'Anjou became King of Spain, not France. As to the British royals: thanks to Queen Elizabeth (Queen Mother), Princess Diana and Kate Middleton, they're getting to be as much British as German.
@@LJB103 I didn't say he became King of France ;-) But he was Louis XIV's grandson, which makes his descendants, including the present King of Spain, Bourbons.
My God the pronunciation of names and places is truly horrific .

Wrong!!! This content creator needs to do his homework!😂
Not worth watching . So inaccurate it beggars belief!
Somebody tell the commentator that Grosvenor is pronounced Grovenor.
Loads of money but they trapped by duty they cant just spend it 😮they are overseers of one hell of a responsibility 🤨
Please check your spelling. Queen Elisabeth one minute, Queen Elizabeth the next. The Duke of Westminster is not a Prince. And one pic of the Duke of Gloucester isn’t him.
True, it was a pic of prince Richard zu sayn wittgenstein berleburg, the late husband of princess benedikte of denmark (younger sister of the queen of denmark). Bad video
You forgot the Castletons, specifically the current Duke of miller Andrew Arthur Ambrose Castleton, his estate portfolio the Miller Provisional estates is worth around £90 Million
William is a billionaire now
A gross simplification as William can't actually lay his hands on a billion pounds .The bulk of Royal assets are not the personal possessions of the King or his heir .
I*ve been working on a Dukedom criteria and a Queen*s decree favour pledge since 1984 😁
You're playing a little loose with your numbers. Prince Albert's 100 classic cars are worth $900M which averages $9M per car? Seriously? And his total net worth is just $100M more or $1B?
La esposa de Alfonso de Borbón jamás fue princesa, era la nieta de Franco
If you dig deep enough you will probably always find some at least shady circumstances which were the foundations of the current wealth of these figures. For instnce the real wealth from the Liechtensteins resulted from the fact that two brothers Liechtenstein converted to catholicism and sided with the emperor in his struggle with the bohemian nobility (which caused the 30 years war). The emperor and his cronies were successful in virtually beheading the nobility and taking their property. And large chunks of land were handed over to the Liechtensteins as a reward. One of them became vice roi of Bohemia.
This is a ridiculous clip. They get almost all the numbers wrong and left out many very rich dukes
Wow!
Hans Adam II of Liechtenstein is an Imperial Prince, not a Duke
He still holds a title of Duke as well.
@@regisrules22 yes, courtesy titles, Duke of Troppau and Jägerndorf, both are places in Czechia, outside the actual jurisdiction of the Princes of Liechtenstein.
Very good quality video and good content
Someone whom was putting this video together, is mathematically challenged. Half of the amounts were off, because someone doesn’t know how to count their zeros. ❤
Someone has a little problem with grammar challenges. Therefore I’m reluctant to accept totally his/her mathematical comments. 🇨🇦
@@patriciamaclean8217 Correct, I’ve always struggled with language, it was never my strong suit, however math & science were my strong suit. That’s how it happens sometimes.
doochy of Cornwall? Who is this guy?
They got the photo of the Duke of Gloucester wrong
That's true
The picture shows Prince Richard Sayn Wittgenstein Berleburg who was married to Princess Benedikte of Denmark
Could of had a better picture of Princess Diana
The first photo used for No. 8, Duke of Gloucester, is incorrect. That photo is of the late Richard, 6th Prince of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, who was the husband of Princess Benedikte of Denmark. Also, Hugh Grosvenor, Duke of Westminster is the 16th Baronet Grosvenor, 10th Viscount Belgrave, 10th Earl Grosvenor, and 9th Marquess Westminster, but not a prince. 😁
Sorry He is not a ROYAL STATUS PRINCE BUT A
NOBLE STATUS! In German his title is FURST
And in English
It’s Prince(His serene highness)
the spelling of Gloucester is (together with Worcester) a common trap and you fell for it :p it is _Gloster_
the list is flawed because in some noble families the duke is a lesser title and not used at all. just becasue it is a high rank in UK doesnt mean much, sorry.
me lives in the former _Grand Duchy of Baden_ and its current head of house would put half of the list in the bin. :p
WHY MUST ANYONE KNOW THIS INFORMATION.???
Um, you guys really a have NO IDEA, as in NO IDEA , how much money these Dukes have self evidently . They are FAR RICHER then this !!! Who the hell did this 'research ' ?????
😂1 to 3 million dollars Is not the richest
What about King Charles? He is the Duke of Lancaster.
And Duke of Normandy.
Hes A Billionaire
The duke of Westminster descends from Nicholas I of Russia.
Please explain how the Duke of Westminster is related to Nicholas the first .
Very interesting. Put them all together and we cmould solve globall poverty. However I realise wealth unwisely goverened can

Please do learn correct pronounciation of those difficult foreign name. GROSVENOR is pronounced Grovner

Grosvener is pronounced GROVNER(long O sound)!!!
it's pronounced GROVE-nor.. silent s..
Duke of Sussex worth $60m ??
Like really??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
And the Duke of Rothesay & Cornwall is only worth $100m ???
I think the Duke of Sussex may be broke .
It would be helpful if the narrator could pronounce the names correctly.
It's pronounced "GrovNER" not "GrosVENOR"!
The French Revolution was first to solve the problem of what to do with medieval aristocracy
You forgot the most important Duke of all, The Duke of York Prince Andrew 😂😂😂
You should make an effort to pronounce names and titles correctly. The most glaring instance wast that of the family name of the dukes of Westminster: it’s pronounced “grove-ner”, not as you pronounced it. It’s an ancient French name. One can be more forgiving in respect of European names and titles but it does seem to me that if you’re going to mount a program like this, then getting the names and titles right is really only the least you would expect. An interesting program otherwise and thank you for presenting it.
It's not easy for most people to correctly pronounce the "fat/big hunter - Gros veneur" If duchy is pronounce doochy, are the people of the Netherlands Dooch?
Grand Duke Henri, not Henry his first name is pronounced in French. The r at the end of the late Prince Rainier's name is silent. It's not pronounced like the r in Mt. Rainier which is pronounced in an American English way , given the volcano 🌋 was named in honor of an 18th century British explorer.
Bo & Luke didn't make the list?
