- Great game.
I recommend anyone who can pick this up, to do so. This is possibly one of the most accessable shooters ever made.
As usual, boss rematches, barring boss 10, which is different enough a rematch to warrent a record, aren't recorded. Boss 5 and Boss 8 are refought during the final level for those interested.
I'm not sure whether this or Ikaruga is my favourite shoot 'em up. It's very close. This is one hell of a good game.
Couple of notes for those that pay attention to the video:
a) The game is played on "Hyper" difficulty. In effect, all the enemies and bosses are sped up. This, makes, the game alot harder, obviously.
b) Whilst collecting powerups, you are invunerable for a second or two. This saves my neck a couple of times.
c) Don't complain about me using cheap weapons, they're in the game for a reason, to be used.
The awesome weapons help make this game super awesome. :P
d) For those interested: I got hit ALOT during the actual gameplay of this. This is one of the few shooters to give you health, and the health is linked to your weapon level. Thank god weapon upgrades drop frequently. As I said, great well made game and no-where near as cheap as it may seem at times.
Yes, some of the weapon pick-ups were accidents. They didn't register on the "don't hit these" radar at the time of recording. Oh well. You get to see every weapon. :P

Boy, did I love this game back in the day, being a 90's kid. The ultimate space shooter.
I enjoyed that game when i was 15 years .I had crazy nights with it .The sound,the lightning and the music , its all addictive .However on my SNES version the boss didnt talk before the fight .

Zolba is so freakin' awesome, I wish someone would put it in a movie.
I mean in Avengers Endgame the sanctuary 2 looks similar
Awesome. I rented the hell out of this game when I was a kid and always wondered what they said.
Yay for sound test. Boss 7 says "What a brave guy you are!" And boss 10 has one of my favorite lines, "Fancy meeting you here!"
DukeOnkled boss 5 is "Down with you!"
Janel is by far my favorite boss in the game!

@vts131 Coming back to it I think axelay had the scale and variety but super aleste had the polish and brilliant mode 7 effects which dont look as dated as axelay's do (especially its bend on the first level effect which just looks weird now)

Both awesome shooters, but I've got to give it to Axelay.
Thats not the hardest difficulty setting.
the hardest is the "wild" level where it plays the same was as hyper but this time all the enemies shoots bullets after each dies.

I cannot even beat this game without the use of my trusty old Game Genie, but I play for fun not to show off mad skill. (Which you have btw in spades!) The music in this game is still some of the best in vg's.
I have noticed that you never attained a weapon level above that of 6 though, even after acquiring a green power up. That should have boosted you to 7. Weren't using a Game Genie yourself were you? ;)

Dude the developers of this game had to have worked on the game Blazin Lazers for TGX16, same looking colors and similar power-ups and sound effects.

What are the bosses saying? I know boss 1 says "Welcome to the underworld!" and boss 2 says "Give me a break, will you?!", but I can't find out what the others say.

@superkeenenbell: Really? LOL, i kept playing at "Wild" thinking it was the easiest level due to its position in the options, which is odd.
I'm a noob at shmups, and i was barely able to reach the 2nd level, so i was wondering if my friends that pointed this as an accessible vertical shmup for newbies were having fun of me or i was just so much bad at shooters that i'm not even able to play an easy one. XD
