My dad had an International Scout when I was in highschool/college. I got to drive it a lot. It was really cool. Old, but still useful. He would use it to get other people out of messes.
Grandparents had a 40 acre alfalfa farm just NW of Ontario. Dad worked in Albany, OR and had 100 acres just south of Independence. I remember traveling through Lebanon, Bend, Burns, Vale a couple of times a year. Had my learners permit when Grandma died. So made that trip at the wheel of the car. Grandpa died almost a year later so almost had my driver's license. Made several trips with Dad to haul things home before the Ontario property was sold. I also remember that Dad forgot Mom near Sisters on one trip. Middle of the night so everybody was sleeping in the back of the wagon -- well, I was sleeping in the right passenger seat. Dad woke me up to find Mom. Couldn't. I think we were an hour out of Sisters. Right about then the highway patrol found us to confirm that Mom was back at the last gas station. I guess she felt the call and didn't tell anybody.
You're Immune to Montezuma's Revenge...the Ostemy Bag means you can't get the Squirts...or if you do, you only notice it because the bag is a little squishier than normal when you go to change it... 😄😁😆😅😂🤣
Euro trucks have had freely adjustable air suspension for atleast 10+ years by now, they are pretty convenient exactly in these kind of situations when a trailer is too high or low to hook up. Of course even that won't help if the trailer itself is that kind of design where your fifth wheel is gonna hit the connectors and the end of truck frame is ramped so you can't fit wood blocks securely. But oh well, Entertaining video as always Casey!
Good video!! Yup... I would not have anticipated that much difference in truck height. I didn't think about your tires being oversized/taller than the usual. Thanks to some very helpful guys at that dealership it saved you a ton of up and down riging. Glad you and Ben made it home without any problems so you can sleep in your own beds.
Gotta love the logic of "Hey if we look like we are doing "safe" things. safety wont come over and see we are doing unsafe things". Plus side you scored a free safety vest.
Your comments on the truck stop traffic is on point. I have been rebuilding the parking lot of a truck stop on I-95 this summer and you nailed it. Just made my day!
Casey,I can't help thinking that if you used those timber blocks longways on the chassis rails ,you would have been able to get the height that you needed ??my reasoning is that sliding lengthways would have been a better movement ! Bottle jacks could have been used too . Hopefully Ben has dealt to those landing legs and they are fully functional now
I can not fathom that you guys still don't have an electronically adjustable air suspension. We've had this stock feature on our eurotrucks and trailers for over 25 years now.. Surely, it can't be too hard to retrofit since you already have airbags and a leveler. You also shouldn't worry about over extending your airbags like that. If that was harmful, our shops would be filled with trucks and trailers with blown bags. Since there's a lot of docks where we need to raise or lower the suspension to the max. Even when hooking up loaded trailers, we tend to max out the bags to make sure the landing gear is clear of the ground so you don't destroy it. Honestly, the only thing truly harmful for bags is dumping 52.000lb on it at once. You'd want to let all the air out before doing that. End of my little rant, haha. Great video, as always. You and Ben have some great chemistry for videos like this. always a pleasure to watch.
The .5 inch tire sizing was created to prevent confusion between tubed and tubeless tires on trucks. My first encounter with 17.5 tires was on my brother's 1959 Chevy 1 ton panel he bought in 1972. I still have an IH 1.5 ton 1966 and it has 8.25x20 split rims. Old tires but still holding air.
I am not a trucker, I just have a utility trailer. That said, I have two or three straps that I TRUST that will bend a tractor in half if I am not careful with them. I have bent parts of my trailer overtightening the straps. Then, I have a -bucket- of straps that I do not even care if they hold up or not, those straps are only me "cop deterrent." If they only see one strap, regardless of how strong it is, they will pull you over and make you add more. If they see 50 straps, made out of string cheese, looking like you went overboard, they leave you alone. Augusta Georgia.
Please tell your viewers to make sure hitch on bottom of pick up or motorhome are secure before traveling. Our motorhome hitch lost 3 of 4 bolts on our way home from EJS in Utah. Our trailer was hitting back of our RV. Thankfully we were able to get stopped and didn't roll our trailer with our Jeep on it. We only damaged back of motorhome. If anyone has questions reach out to me. We tow lots of trailers and have for over 40 years without 1 issue. I have asked many friends have they checked hitch under tow rig. Not 1 person answered yes.
It's my theory that the jacks do move the world. The trailer stays in the same space while the jacks push the world further down. Beware the trucker in Australia trying to use jacks on his trailer at the same time.
I will be moving a 79 IH Traveller, which has been sitting for 30 years, on my little 8.5x 16 trailer. How do you guy s ,,always,, come in these sort of situations? Because you know that you have people you can rely on. Nice bunch of cars. Of the 30/40 i own there was not one with these specs. You should be allowed picking one for helping ben out casey.
Instead of wrapping the excess up, just roll it up into a neat circle leaving enough to pass the strap through the middle and over the circle. Looks much neater and saves time.

I worked at chesters, trust me, that chicken is real and the way its fried your not gonna notice whether its been thawwed for two hours or not. They thaw the chicken overnight before its fried anyway so they probably had a good stock pile in a fridge somewhere to keep them going.
