On the fight scene, I think it made perfect sense given Kuldeep's character... His ego wasn't gonna let the man who made a fool of him get away without payback. And also, it further proved to Simran's dad that Raj was capable of fighting for his daughter, no matter the odds against him.
You cant literally lose all your childhood relationships for the sake of one. Eloping should be the last resort.
The Last Fight scene was Added because SRK Really wanted to Have a Fight scene in the Movie....Actually Before this Movie he played Action Hero/Anti-Hero Type of Roles..so He Wanted to Leave that impression of him in This Last Fight scene...and When It ws Added Audience in the theatres Hooted for Him and it made the Movie Even Better😊
Where did he become so mature? Ppl can act mature when a life situation demands it. A person doesn’t have to always act all serious. They can be silly and childish and enjoy life and be mature when a situation demands it. And running away is so easy. But when u wait, try and get approval and blessings from the ones who raised you without sacrificing your love, that has more dignity and value.
Before this movie ddlj, all the hindi romantic movies of 80's and 90's were against their parents wishes and they used to run away and get married but this movie actually changed the concept of hindi movies that they can win over family. It was all new for the audience. Also the action scenes it was by fluke, SRK insist Director to do action scenes just for fun because anupam kher was late at the location. You guys should definitely watch behind the scenes of ddlj.
Fun facts ON THE ACTION SEQUENCE : let me answer you all why there is an action sequence in the movie?? Well, the action sequence was forced by SRK. He pursued the director Adi to include the scene in the movie. Hahaha..Adi did mention this in the Romantics @Netflix series. He said SRK is a good guy but he pretend to be this macho guys..actually SRK really wish to be an action hero but instead Adi turned him into a lover boy. So forcing the action sequence towards the end of the movie is just to fulfil SRK's wish to be an action hero !
During DDLJ, karan johar was the assistant Director to Adi Chopra.

In SRK's defence: he did said earlier that he Never gets serious.. and the only time he will be serious is when he will fall in love. - and that's what happened that made him mature up.

okay i know a lot of people already commented this but i would also clear your confusion ...so as its an indian movie it is basically for indian audience and revolves around indian culture and it raised very deep questions and unconventional belifs at that time like you saw kajal's mother saying "women are meant to serve men only'' its a sad reality but it was a norm in india and the movie kind of opened our eyes similarly there was another thing which is parental approval a lot of people dont care for their parents after they grew up and this movie taught us running away is not the only option we can convince our parents if our love is true and i agree that some might not agree to this you might argue that you should run away if necesaary and that is also moral in some cases but eventually its just a thin line of morality and i respect that you asked why SRK didnt run away with her so its simple its just cultural values and its not the perfect thing he did according to many people but it is what it is and as indian its a moral thing for me to convince parents and also run away in some cases it depends...
13:12 That's the point u know, Raj actually had a character development. He was this non serious, w/o any responsibilities brat like boy. But when he actually fell in love, he finally became mature to take serious responsibilities. But still, you see him always making jokes and stuff because he is still childish from outside. Also, it is repeated many times in the movie that tho Raj grew up outside India, he is still accustomed with indian family values, which is also one of the reasons he doesn't elope with Simran. Eloping will result in breaking the bond between the family.
Iconic movie, with iconic cast & music. Thanks for the watch-along. Hope you get to Om Shanti Om too at some point... Another classic.

you should watch Darr. In that movie, he is a villain or in negative shade. Even in Baaigar.

Yes this movie was one of famous movies in 90s and SRK carrier... If u really wanna watch another amazing love story... U can watch... Taal.... Movie released in 1999...that was another amazing love story.... Rich kid n poor girl....
This scene is approved by Aditya chopra because srk insists on having at least one fight scene in a movie and Aditya stuked In a traffic and srk choreographed this fight scene in half hour

Ever boy has two sides one is immature and childish and other is serious and deep. But they show only one side of him but they only openup to some people the close ones. People they thrust and love. In movie Raj's deference mechanicme is his childish goofy side but when he fell in love he showed her his other side, like in hotel he saying that dialogs. There are no red flags and green flags you need to know the person but stay away from criminal and violent guys😂😂😂
Originally the director didn’t want the action part in his script but it was Shahrukh’s idea to add some action scenes for further entertainment.

It's important to have family's approval. How can you imagine their lives without people they love.?! Are you serious when you say that you don't understand Raj's motivation?! It's so evident. Why should they elope? Don't you think it's logic to win the love and respect of the family and have a real marriage with all family members together?
Did you know the director Mr Aditya Chopra's first choice for Raj is Me Tom cruise but his father said that we have no budget for them.once in a interview he explained it.

You are literally trying to find context in every scene of a movie which was made in 90's and that too in 2024 i.e almost 30 years after, how is it fair? May in another 30 years we will witness a whole new world which will be totally different in terms of time and space. So, I would appreciate you guys to just enjoy the movie for the way it is rather than trying to find logic behind everything🫶
