  • Part 1 of 3 video installments for the RUclips Pagan Challenge 2017. This year’s theme: the personal grimoire or metaphysical journaling.
Prior to participation in this video challenge, I shared personal practices, insights, and a glimpse inside my book of methods, an East Asian Taoist approach to metaphysical journaling, which I discuss in my second book, The Tao of Craft.
Link to that first video: • Grimoire: About My Boo... .
“Tarot as a Tool for Craft” - $15 Online Course
    - How do you distinguish the mechanics of using tarot for divination, tarot in psychic readings, or how to work with the tarot for developing your four clairs?
    - Learn indispensable techniques for using tarot to advance your craft
    - Work with the tarot to refine shamanic journeying, mediumship abilities, celestial contacts, and other-world summonings
    - Gain access to pages from my personal grimoire to supplement your own path
    - Sign up for the class here: benebellwen.co...

This is the most beautiful grimoire I've ever seen, Benebell. It really speaks to me so much, I'm a Western devotee of the Japanese faith Shinto, and am on my way into learning about Tao and Buddhism. Truly inspiring x

I love this! Your book is incredible, and I am in no way comparing myself to you, but I loved what you said about your book not being perfect. People will often say that my handwriting is perfect. It's not! Look at it closely and it's a shaky mess most of the time! What makes it look amazing is that it fills pages and pages (and books and books!). We don't have to be artists or calligraphers to have beautiful books. Books are beautiful when they're loved and filled. Thank you for sharing and reminding us of that :)

    • @BenebellWen
      @BenebellWen  7 лет назад +4

I agree with this so much and we absolutely share the same essential experience I believe. :-) I think when people see something they really like or that impresses them, they want to characterize that thing as perfect. That could be a root issue across all of society, no? :-) What truly makes it beautiful isn't the "perfection" because it's not. What's truly making it beautiful and impressive is the dedication it unequivocally proves. We forget how admirable the mere quality of "determination" is.

One of the best BOS show & tells I've seen. You get straight to the point & don't spend the first 11 minutes and 48 seconds talking about the book while it catatonically displays its front cover.
Your pages are shockingly, uncannily, unbelievably beautiful & the detail gives me a kind of scab I can't reach enough to pick.
I think I'll delete all the other videos I've saved under my craft section. Thank you so much for all of this.

I love this so much. I really appreciate that you mention that it's not the art that's the point, it's the dedication and patience that was the important factor. I also love the way you talk about the creation being a spell.

Gorgeous art! Gorgeous grimoire and gorgeous words! I can feel your love and dedication to this book not only by seeing it but by the way that you describe it! As an artist, I love how you explain the fact that the pages not being perfect is what gives balance to the pages when you look at the whole picture! That speaks to me on so many levels! Also, yes, patience in art. I need so much more of that. Hahaha.

This was phenomenal! I am sincerely and enthusiastically looking forward to your second installment, Content & Creation, as it looks from this video (the last few seconds) that you do plan out, to some degree, a page prior to committing it in ink in your grimoire. Thank you for being so articulate when communicating. And validating that is okay to not being perfect. I so needed to hear this. I always think I am not good enough because of the way I was raised and to busy dealing with trauma all my life. Now that I am 50 I am deciding how to move forward. I want my life to mean something and this video is a blessing. Thank you.

this is the best grimoire i have ever seen in my life. you drew all that art through your chi... AMAZING. i'm an artist and i love my own art and the way i do it. i never wanted to draw like anyone else. but as i look at your art all i want is to be like you. from now on for the rest of my life i going to practice and work harder and use my chi to be the best that i can be and i hope my art becomes even better than before. you have inspired me and i have not been inspired about drawing since i was 14, i am 30 now and i feel like a child again. THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR TALENT.

I was so inspired by the amount of delicate penwork, and once I found this flip-through video I got so giddy! inspiring! what a way to approach a grimoire, i've always said that it should be like a textbook that began as a journal but hearing it as a "tool" that holds your successes and your learnings really spoke to me.
"Not a journal. A book of successes. Not a reference manual, don't keep correspondences, it's a TOOL. Holds knowledge, experiences, memories of work with energies beyond the veil. The SAME rigor as i would approach spell crafting. "

Aw, thank you! Unfortunately I didn't have the foresight to plan out a table of contents or index. :-) So the order is quite chaotic. Some sections I might plan out just because they come in a batch, but most of it is pretty arbitrary.

Oh, I specialize in the Opening Of The Key spread & ritual which I use the Crowley Thoth deck with. I also help people find missing & lost objects.or people using the Opening Of The Key. It's my most dependable tool with the Tarot. Of course I work with other decks because I also a huge collector of rare, out of print & limited decks. I love esoteric, Hermetic, Masonic, Occult smybolism style decks the most. I also use pairing, card counting, astrological & elemental symbolisms with all my reads & incorporate them with my spreads even my version of the Celtic Cross goes way beyond your typical Celtic Cross.
Have you ever heard of you read books from Paul Barlow? He is brilliant with the Opening Of The Key, going beyond the Celtic Cross and takes the Tarot beyond divination. He was my teacher & tarot guru. From him I learned the Tarot, but I'm constantly learning & teaching others at the same time. I think I will have to check out & give your tarot courses a try.
Thank you again & I apologize for the long comments. XD
