Came here via the Grateful Dead's cover. I thought Phil Lesh singing lead was great. I was wrong! Bryan Ferry pulled a rabbit out of his hat! This is what Robert Palmer wanted to be. New respect from me, for Bryan- hard to come by!
The difference between a great artist and a run of the mill is the great one is unpredictable and does not do the obvious. This version by Bryan Ferry is out of the world
@@Rocketman10057: What are you measuring? Hands down it's Bryan if you mean stage work and vocal talent. Musical genius belongs to the Nobel Prize winner of course. Dylan loves Ferry's covers.
I like it. I'm a big fan of the way the Grateful Dead did it, their own unique take on it. Bryan does the same. His own style to it. Almost a different song, which is awesome.
Better than Dylan is a compliment to Bob. He could write a song that anyone else could mould. Full of characters and stories and an attitude that even transcended the US political, rail, road and blues scene. He is an endless source of depth, meaning and musicality and a pit of contradictions. Give me a Shot of Love which is a bad ass genius album with an enormous depth of musicality. The more I play it the further in I go. No one else seems to agree.. Yet. His radio show was a revelation. The man had as many sources as the Mississippi
Great song by Dylan, Great style points & interpretation by the Master of Suave. If I’ve learned anything by watching this master of debonair it’s that he’s light years ahead of where I wish to be one day!, that and I’ve laid off the burgundy and moved on from the tough women of Rue Morgue, though the misses still can make me swoon!!!

Brilliant.........I love the way Mr. Ferry Cleverly covers songs........can't wait to see him in New York City... Beacon....!!!!!! They are all Classics all over again.
oh why does this not have more views? It is one of the best versions, of that great song by Mr Bob Dylan....started out on burgandy,,and soon hit the harder stuff......
them 24 dislikes are Beiber fans and would not know MUSIC if it bit their balls )))) ive been a fan of Bryan Ferry since I was 16....damn long time ago now.....amazing band....
Every song on Highway 61 revisited, as in Bringing it all back home and Blonde on Blonde is perfect. There's no possible better version of them. Anyway this is a good cover.
He always has top musicians, backing singers, arrangements, production, all to create perfection
Like Leonard Cohen.❤
This is a great performance by Bryan Ferry which even includes an Elvis like lip curl.
PURE ART
MASTERPIECE
PERFECT BRAVO

Exactly, well said.

Oliver Thompson rocks. Looks about 14, what talent.
Thanks for the post! Bryan Ferry is unique with his take on music! A cool classy rocker gentleman!
The amazing Mr. Ferry, going out somewhere beyond Dylan. Brian Ferry never disappoints!
Bryan, his brother, is even better.

He’s good but still a good three levels behind Dylan ,just because you can turn a television on doesn’t make you John logie Baird

Besides Mr Ferry doing this & the other DYLAN songs magnificently, there are some amazing guitar players & THE BAND is sensational :-)

Better than Dylan is a compliment to Bob. Without Dylan, you never get to Hendrix' Watchtower, or a million other magical places.
VG but not better.
At 16 i used to listen and sing to this on Judy Collins album. So glad for this rockn version on karaoke! Singing it!

Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues
WRITTEN BY: BOB DYLAN
When you’re lost in the rain in Juarez
And it’s Eastertime too
And your gravity fails
And negativity don’t pull you through
Don’t put on any airs
When you’re down on Rue Morgue Avenue
They got some hungry women there
And they really make a mess outta you
Now if you see Saint Annie
Please tell her thanks a lot
I cannot move
My fingers are all in a knot
I don’t have the strength
To get up and take another shot
And my best friend, my doctor
Won’t even say what it is I’ve got
Sweet Melinda
The peasants call her the goddess of gloom
She speaks good English
And she invites you up into her room
And you’re so kind
And careful not to go to her too soon
And she takes your voice
And leaves you howling at the moon
Up on Housing Project Hill
It’s either fortune or fame
You must pick up one or the other
Though neither of them are to be what they claim
If you’re lookin’ to get silly
You better go back to from where you came
Because the cops don’t need you
And man they expect the same
Now all the authorities
They just stand around and boast
How they blackmailed the sergeant-at-arms
Into leaving his post
And picking up Angel who
Just arrived here from the coast
Who looked so fine at first
But left looking just like a ghost
I started out on burgundy
But soon hit the harder stuff
Everybody said they’d stand behind me
When the game got rough
But the joke was on me
There was nobody even there to call my bluff
I’m going back to New York City
I do believe I’ve had enough
Superb....

great cover and an excellent rhythm section.

Same, very impressive, total song.
Who could think to hit dislike, growwll. Sounds excellent...Dylan song even better then Dylan himself
oh shut up. its good but not a patch on dylan
There aren't many songs where i prefer the cover to the original, but for me, this is one of them - agreed.
I prefer the cover over the original. Just discovered Bryan Ferry, he is good, and the band as well, my opinion, anyway.
Doctor Pam , see a doctor x
Dig a little deeper

You must mean "Something Exciting"

Great album
Oh yeah!
"cause the cops don't need you and man they expect the same"
is the best line in the song imo.
DYLAN BLOWS THIS AWAY
Dylan is one of the greatest songwriters and worst performers in history
Just makes me want to hear the original
Does the song justice....kudos !

He did Bob Dylan proud
Sensational ... Ollie (baby face) sure can play -see other tracks. And those singers ....gasp
jc
Don’t want to say that this better than the original, but I like Bryan’s version more than Bob’s.

yaa hooo
Changed my mind for another song......
"......I think I've had enough......" Damn good!
What powers Ferry's ferry? He appears to enjoy this song so much that just have to board the ferry too.
I thought I was the only one who dug this album
I've got to compliment the drummer on his tasteful refrain from the crash cymbals
A great performer!

Tight.....af ☺
Great slide guitar, btw.
Is that Chris Spedding?
Good arrangement.
