I've never owned an electric and have only been playing an acoustic for a year. I'm a 64 yr old man with a spinal cord injury. I knew I wanted an electric that wasn't too heavy to lift/hold and have a narrow neck at the nut. I saw this exact guitar, used at my local guitar retailer, and after holding it, then plugging in and playing it (1st time to play in front of anyone), I knew I had to have it. Every one of my friends who see it, and or play it absolutely love it. $380 in excellent condition. Great investment. Great video and playing btw. You have some chops...
It’s my understanding that for $659 CAD (vs $929 CAD for the regular Casino) the Casino Worn gives you the new P90 Pros which are spec’d after the late ‘50s early ‘60s P90s, and CTS pots to boot! (And yes, I purchased one within minutes of watching this wonderful demonstration video😁)
Casino fam unite! Epiphone absolutely shines in the archtop realm, and the Casino might be the star. I’ve loved my ‘03 Sheraton II (natural finish) for years, but at one point decided to “upgrade” to a visually-glorious tobacco burst Gibson SG made 45 mins from my hometown. I lied to myself for five years until I shelved it and went back to the Epi. But then I sold it and used the proceeds, among other things, to get a new Casino in classic burst. 🎉🎉🎉Incredible! So gorgeous- I lucked out w fabulous wood grain- but the feel in the hands, and, lawd, the tone. Only thing I’ve changed is switching out the pickguard for tortoiseshell and ooooh damn, she fine now. True story: I demoed this axe right next to a peacock blue PRS Hollowbody II… and even if I haven’t stopped thinking about that other guitar, the Casino was the clear winner on the ground that day.
I have a ‘94 Peerless Cherry Sunburst made to look like Lennon’s 1965 Casino; and a couple weeks back I got the 2020 Worn Ebony Casino and I love it. I play my Casino’s more than my ES-355. Something about a P90 through an AC30 with Bluebacks sounds amazing.
Just want to say thank you for putting this up. You helped me decide that THIS is the guitar for me. I haven't played an electric in so long and I absolutely can not wait to hold it. A bit scary buying it online (I've never bought a guitar I hadn't held in my hands before), but I figure I had to try. That olive green finish and the price point for that casino sound... !! The guitar shop called me a few hours ago and told me it's shipping out today. :) Thank you for the demo!!
I've had an Epiphone Casino since about 2004, and it's still one of my favorites and I won't part with it. The only thing I've done to it is upgrade the tuning machines, which if you do I'd recommend going with the Gotoh's. They'll drop in and you won't have to ream out the holes, and they'll have the kidney bean keys so they'll look identical.

This is another brilliant celebration of this marvelous guitar, worthy of comparing to any I've seen. Bravo! It just totally sucks I've got to wait weeks to get one. Has to be olive!
Holy Crap dude! That intro was awesome! Love the tone! Exactly the tone and style I've been chasing. Might have to get one of these. I have the AC15 but need to get an Orange Terror. That tone is sooooooo good!

I was also stuck between the black and the olive.. I am glad that I picked the olive.. It has a touch of class that the black doesn't in that the green, gold, silver, white and the brown fretboard all compliment each other so well in a retro yet modern way..

Nice review Marcus. I picked up one of these a couple of weeks ago and have been pretty amazed with it. Great build quality, GREAT neck and great pickups. Definitely has it's own thing.

I never thought I could get on with an Epiphone or a guitar with such limited neck access but I can’t stop playing the thing. It has HUGE amounts of mojo for such a new guitar. A friend recently sent me a pic of Eric Clapton playing my exact model on stage. Couldn’t believe it! If it’s good enough for him it’s good enough for me!

Nice demo - I got hold of one of the 'Worn Blue Denim' models at the end of November '20. The CTS pots make such a big difference over the previous M-i-C Casinos. I'm pleased to have bought it.
Great video. I am about to buy a used Epiphone Casino Warn (blue) and I watched about 8 or 9 videos about this model (green, blue and natural). Only one or two of the videos that watched the guitar was tuned correctly. Is this model hard to keep tuned ?

@@andyhart2000 Casino guitars have a thin strip of retaining metal across the bridge that is often the source of the buzzing. Gently bending this strip with a screwdriver often gets rid of this buzz.
@@jonathanscott658 Hi Jonathan - Thanks very much - yes that seems to be the area its coming from - the wire across the intonation screws. When you say bend them - in which direction do you suggest? Also, I'd say that the quality of the fret finish wasn't the best - they are a bit sharp and also the tune-o-matic bridge quality was not as good as my Epi Les Paul - definitely feel a bit cheaper.
@@andyhart2000 Hi Andy - I pushed the wire in towards the screws so that it bent and conformed around the curves of each screw. Some people advise that adding a small dot of clear nail varnish at the point of contact between the screws and wire also does the trick. Sorry to hear you have had a number of quality issues with your guitar, it is a shame as I was hoping things would improve with Gibson's renewed focus on the Epiphone brand.
Great Playing. I put myself on the waiting list at sweet water for the Worn Denim. I love P90's and I tend to play acoustically just practicing more then with my Spark so this will be a great guitar to bond with !
So I went to guitar center in the states and played the casino they had. I ordered the olive drab so hopefully March time when it comes in! Thanks for the inspiration, I really love the guitar
Hi, Great Demo! I'm drooling over olive drab. I want to get one and install a bigsby B7. Do you think it will fit in the case ok? Then it will fill so many holes in my collection P90s, Hollow, and vibrato.
Cheers mate. I've thought about the bigsby idea too. The case is fairly generic and I'm sure there's guitars in this range that have terms!? But couldn't guarantee.
Here's the thing about Bigsbys in cases. I've had two guitars with bigsbys: A vintage/60's styled schecter and a gretsch. Flip the arm around backwards and it'll fit. Boom. That's the generic variety of trem arm at least. should work that way.
What is the "worn" finish like exactly? Do you known? I have a 2018 Epi SG "faded" in a nice matte satin brown, but it's not an open grain finish. So I'm uncertain as to what these new "worn" finishes are. I've ordered one of these "worn" Casinos in ebony and am currently just waiting for Sweetwater to restock. My ideal plan is to refinish it a la John Lennon's rooftop Casino in natural with just a clear gloss nitro over the exposed wood. However, if these "worn" finishes prove to be unremovable (or at least especially stubborn) I was thinking of putting a tinted 'aged' lacquer over-top the ebony and hopefully get a nice dark walnut color out of it. Of course, if both options prove unfeasible I'm sure I can appreciate the ebony "worn finish" as is.
I'd not recommend trying to strip this stain, even thought the matte poly is pretty thin. Stain penetrates the grain, and because the top is a laminate you're flirting with sanding through a wood layer. The ebony in person looks really good, so maybe rethink the natural.
I bought the same one in ebony and a DSL5CR for my christmas pressie - upgrade from my ukuleles and I play every day cause it's so beautiful to play. Have fun with it, man!
Really great demo, full of useful info. I have my eye on a Casino but prefer the Sunburst or Natural Finish. Are these 'Worn' colour scheme Casino's the same spec as the Sunburst and Natural? The 'Worn' versions are about £100 cheaper so I was wondering if they have cut corners on them somewhere?
It's incredible how epiphone made such a amazingly sounding, versatile and COOL looking guitar for that price. I ABSOLUTELY have to try one of those. Can you tell me how does it feel to play? Do u feel it comfy? Are the frets and neck in good conditions? How about the intonation? Thank you for great review!
Yeah, it's a great guitar for the money. I suppose epiphone have had nearly 60 years of making them so you'd hope they'd get it right by now haha. The only thing that feels remotely odd for me is the big body...but that's because it's got a big body and I'm used to modern contoured comfort. The neck and fret feel great, feel like home. The intonation could do with a tweak now after having it a few weeks etc. Thanks for watching!
I got one last month too. It’s a good guitar for the price. It’s not perfect by any means but it sounds and plays good. My complaints were the nut, bridge, and open pore finish on the neck. I replaced the nut and bridge for ~£25 and sanded the neck. Love it now, so light and resonant.
@@jeramym9506 Hi, I am considering one of these, when you say neck was open pored, you mean the back? and did you go through the matt finish if it was, and what do you make of the tonewoods, are they up to standard. Cheers
Congratulations on the video! I really like the Casino and, being a Beatles fan, I'm about to buy one! In your opinion, this Worn has many differences with the Vintage Sunburst or Natural models Casino's? Also this Worn would be able to replicate the Beatles sound? Congratulations again!
Hey my man, great review! Love the sound, would you mind telling me what you turned on at 11:42? It sounded lovely and so 3D! Is it wet/dry (wet L, dry R)? :)
I'm addicted to thinline hollow bodies and picked up an olive drab casino the day they came out. Its not as good as my beloved ES330 but its probably the best value guitar out at the moment. I may chuck a bigbsy on it with a reverend soft spring.
OK, subscribed to your channel mate, best Epi Casino review ever! I've got to confess, for another "grunge boy" like me, this guitar in that colour really is something! ❤️
Really appreciated this detailed and honest review. Great playing. Looking at the worn casinos and the regular ones naturalsunburst. Have you tried the natural/vintage sunburst casinos? How do they compare? I would be keen to know the difference. I can see the worn has satin finish which I like but I know the neck shape is different and the P90s have a different description. Hope you are still enjoying your casino.
Great review, I fancy one of these but just wondered why they are so much cheaper than the standard Epiphone Casinos, I suppose the paintwork maybe cheaper and less labour intensive but this model uses Cts pots etc and presumably the same multi layer wood construction, any idea ? cheers and Happy safe New Year
Sorry, hit send before finishing. Yeah, can't think of anything else. The pots are apparently cts like you say. Everything else remains the same. Thanks for watching! Happy New Year to you too.
Thank you for this demo! Love the sound. I mainly play acoustic and was looking for an electric. Is this going to be significantly quieter compared an acoustic? I want to be able to play quietly due to having a baby now, but also play regularly through an amp. I don’t have a way to demo guitars because of my location...
Hi there! One of the best reviews which got me insta subbed to your channel! Mate are you still happy with Brent Hinds Terror? Can you review it? Can you make a video of it as a pedal platform? I’m planning to buy one soon, i’ll be mostly using my american strat into the natural channel and low gain dirty channel with compressors, tube screamer, booster etc. for modern blues and funk! My metal upper limits would be classic or ac dc style hard rock at most! Would u recommend it? Thanks!
Hi, thanks dude. Appreciated. I certainly enjoy the BHT still, I tend to use two amps at a time with the victory Copper dlx as my primary then a secondary. I used the BHT for a good couple of years tho as the main amp for my pedalboard and it took all the pedals great.
In 1961 Epiphone was already owned by Gibson. Gibson bought Epiphone in 1957. The Casino came out when the Gibson es-330 came out. Same guitar, different headstock.
Gibson has owned Epiphone since 1957. The Casino was first produced in 1961 as a cheaper version of the Gibson ES-330, so every Casino ever made was produced by Gibson.
Love the demo - great to showcase the guitar in so many styles and tones. A quick correction on your Casino history for you: Gibson acquired Epiphone in 1957; the Casino debuted in 1961, 2 years after Gibson first made the ES-330. The Casino was essentially a rebadged 330 - made in the same factory by the same people, with the same components. The differences were the headstock shape, the fret markers, metal buttons on the tuners instead of plastic, and the shading of the sunburst. That's all - the Casino was not the one of a kind, stand-alone creature you imagine it to be. Sorry for that dose of reality. I bought the olive drab model and am enjoying it immensely - alongside my Gibson ES-330 :)
That’s not actually true. The neck on a 330 joins the body at the 19th fret, but the neck on a Casino joins the body at the 16th fret. Slightly surprised you had apparently not noticed that.
Hi Marcus. I actually just bought the Epiphone " inspired by Gibson " ES 335 and it was delivered yesterday. It's a fabulous guitar and well worth the money. Of course there is a difference between it and its Gibson counterpart but not nearly enough to warrant the huge difference in price. I am extremely happy with my purchase. I have also been considering this Epiphone Casino and I absolutely love the colour and finish. You have convinced me to go ahead early in the new year and add it to my collection. The fully hollow body of the Casino has always appealed to me and I love P90 Pickups. Great review Marcus. Thanks brother. 🙏
Thanks mate. Much appreciated. I'm glad you're happy with your purchase and I'm flattered that in some way I encouraged the purchase! (You hear that epiphone? I want some commission)
@@marcusdluxe lol yes, all good reviewers who encourage sales should, at the very least, receive a good discount on the brands they endorse. I bet this video has encouraged many guitarists to buy, Have a great day Marcus 😎
I don’t care what people say the Epiphone casino is just the best! Way better than the es330 I mean the casino is just so iconic why spend an extra like 2000 dollars on the Same guitar except with Gibson slapped on the headstock Lmao!
I have one, love the finish, feel, playability. I found the picks up realy shit. They were awful even compared to my regular natural Casino. They are the Epiphone PRO P-90, the other Casino uses the Dogear P-90T Classic. They are also used in the Smaller Coup. They have a more fuller sound, more volume, bite.
Ok bud not ALL of them have fret buzz! And the upper fret access thing is WAY blown out of proportion just like the feedback! If you don’t have anything good to say just don’t say it lol!
@@Yeahyeahbeebisfan It was actually the pickguard that was buzzing. It was a sweet guitar, overall. My hands were too small for the chunky neck. I can't blame the guitar for that.
I've just bought one of these. Plays great. Finish is awful. Like a bad paint job. Drips, binding bleed, etc... I know it's 'drab' but it looks like a five year old with a brush painted it. Didn't want to return it as it plays so well, so stripped it back to the wood and oiled it. Real shame. Great colour, just awful quality. Now mine is a "natural" finish unfortunately.
This is the greatest Epiphone casino demo I've ever heard.

The Worn finish seems a lot like the Faded finish - open grain, satin paint.
I'd not recommend trying to strip this stain, even thought the matte poly is pretty thin. Stain penetrates the grain, and because the top is a laminate you're flirting with sanding through a wood layer. The ebony in person looks really good, so maybe rethink the natural.
Just picked up the worn black model, a load of guitar for the money !
Congratulations dude! Absolutely, a lot of bang for buck
I bought the same one in ebony and a DSL5CR for my christmas pressie - upgrade from my ukuleles and I play every day cause it's so beautiful to play. Have fun with it, man!
@@cliffordholliday679 nice, good work dude!
As far as I know its the same but a case of rhe flat finish is a lot less hassle. No grain filler, lacquer etc.
Thanks for watching
Thank you for your answear! Happy holidays!
@@jeramym9506 why did u send the neck? Wasn't it already smooth enough being a satin finish?
That's the new boss OC-5 octave pedal. Along with delay and verb
And yes, the octave would be on the left through the Orange and the Vox to the left with just a boost
I'm addicted to thinline hollow bodies and picked up an olive drab casino the day they came out. Its not as good as my beloved ES330 but its probably the best value guitar out at the moment.
I may chuck a bigbsy on it with a reverend soft spring.
Yeah, the value is crazy and a great platform for upgrades!
OK, subscribed to your channel mate, best Epi Casino review ever! I've got to confess, for another "grunge boy" like me, this guitar in that colour really is something! ❤️
Yes mate! Thanks a lot. I couldn't resist this beast when I saw it.
Thanks again
@@marcusdluxe great playing also, your really rocked the best tones out of it!
@@guitar_fed cheers mate! Much appreciated
Nice sounds.
Thanks
Really appreciated this detailed and honest review. Great playing. Looking at the worn casinos and the regular ones naturalsunburst. Have you tried the natural/vintage sunburst casinos? How do they compare? I would be keen to know the difference. I can see the worn has satin finish which I like but I know the neck shape is different and the P90s have a different description. Hope you are still enjoying your casino.
I'm going to do a "casino one year on" video soon.
Generally speaking from what I've played the feel and tone are super close.
@@marcusdluxe Brilliant, look forward to seeing that.
Great review, I fancy one of these but just wondered why they are so much cheaper than the standard Epiphone Casinos, I suppose the paintwork maybe cheaper and less labour intensive but this model uses Cts pots etc and presumably the same multi layer wood construction, any idea ? cheers and Happy safe New Year
I can only say the same. The satin open grain is potentially less work.
It's definitely quieter than an acoustic, as for how much quieter it's hard to say. But either was a great option.
Very nice demo
Thank you
Does it make feedback on a high gain? I really want to use it on my metal band what do you suggest?
It can get a bit wild for sure. Not sure what to suggest as I don't use it for that application.
How's the level of feedback from the hollow body? I had a Gretsch Tim Armstrong that was a pain for that and I think that even had a centre block!
It can get a bit wild with tons of gain but generally speaking I'm surprised how well I copes.
@@marcusdluxe Nice. Love the Olive drab so I might have to try one some time!
Fuck! It really looks great in this color!
Yeah, I think so too
Great demo. Great review. I’ve just order one I’ll have to figure out how to get that blue sticker out of the f hole though!
Hahaha, that damn blue sticker hey
blue sticker inside !! 😮😮
It does have a blue sticker.
Excellent!
Nice video Marcus. You make me want to put my stock pickups back in my Casino. Peace!
Cheers dude! Thanks for the kind words and glad it got you thinking.
What pickups you have in yours?
Nice video, thank U
Can you recommend best strings for this guitar, thanks
I use 10 gauge rotosounds
@@marcusdluxe thanks a lot
@@marcusdluxe first time ive heard of that brand
Great demos buddy.
Do you think it can handle garage/punk music? I'm a little weary of the feedback from my fuzz...
I play with a fair bit of gain generally and don't suffer much feedback.
Great review! And what a tone! Could you tell which pedals are you using? Thanks!
Thanks mate! Which tones are you interested in?
How do you find the single coil hum noise? I have a jazzmaster that’s brutal and still comes through unless all strings are in use.
I know what you mean. This however isn't too bad at all
Anyone know the difference between the Pro P90’s on this model vs the “P90 classics” on the $700 gloss finish models?
No idea. Was wondering that myself.
Is that body the full size casino body? Or is it more the coupe size? Thanks!
Standard casino from what I gather.
@@marcusdluxe excellent! Thanks! Will probably get one then lol
Am I gonna be able to play oasis tunes with this? I've heard hollow bodies have feedback issues
I've only really had feedback issues when playing loud and very overdriven
You need a Steinburger and a tambourine to play Oasis properly.
Great!
Is this a Chinese made, please?
@@marcusdluxe thank you so much for the answer. This means a lot to me!
In 1961 Epiphone was already owned by Gibson. Gibson bought Epiphone in 1957. The Casino came out when the Gibson es-330 came out. Same guitar, different headstock.
Yeah, I've learnt that since making this video. Thanks for your comment though
I believe the casino is based off the Gibson ES-330
Correct, I've learnt that since making the video
Gibson has owned Epiphone since 1957. The Casino was first produced in 1961 as a cheaper version of the Gibson ES-330, so every Casino ever made was produced by Gibson.
Yeah, annoyingly I've since learned this. Still love the guitar.
I just bought actually this. Partly based on your recommendation. I also didn’t like the Es335. I love this guitar.
Awesome, so glad you're digging it.
no clean demo?
I'm afraid not. There is ,at the beginning of the sound samples, the guitar without pedals I'm pretty sure but I use my amps with a bit of grit.
7:37 is the cleanest
Cheers Doug, thanks for the low down on the history. Super interesting.
Glad you're enjoying yours.
That’s not actually true. The neck on a 330 joins the body at the 19th fret, but the neck on a Casino joins the body at the 16th fret. Slightly surprised you had apparently not noticed that.
Still the guitars have a different aura! There is NOTHING Like an Epiphone casino!
What hard case did you go for?
I went for the designated epiphone one
@@marcusdluxe Thanks fella. Great video
A little late to the party but cool guitar and I really like the song at the end.
Thanks mate, appreciated
Have you modded anything?
No, had it a while now and still standard
Can you gig with this?
Yeah, as long as you're playing too gainy.
I would imagine the simpler finish and the Epiphone pro p-90 pickups are of a lesser quality would contribute
Absolutely
Are you saying the pro _p90s are no good ?
What is your rig set up?
In this I play through the Orange brent hinds terror and a Vox AC15
I got this guitar without a pickguard but I might find a.
BLack one
Hows the fretboard?
All good, need a good does of lemon oil with the first restring but no complaints.
@@marcusdluxe sound ,thanks for replying . I would love a casino but torn between the older model for the rosewood or the new drab green like yours.
@@ianclarke3627 yeah, it's a tough choice for sure. I had to have the olive so my decision was easier haha.
Annoying pickguard buzz and lack of access to the upper frets. It's a pass for me.
Fair dos mate. Thanks for watching though.
Really, that's crazy. Mines all good. No runs, drips etc
