The equiping of outfit one is a key point - the first time I ran the glitch is worked perfectly as I followed along with the video. Later I tried several times to do it again from memory and it did not work. When I reviewed the video I had forgotten to equip outfit one. Also, if your glitch hat gets knocked off or you swap and pick back up it will save the hat to your inventory. Haven't been able to replicate with any other parts of the kits, but it is easy enough to go and re-run the glitch if you accidentally delete the outfit.

It works, but when you do it successfully, you still cannot ultimately mix and match these items with other stuff. Like you cant put them on other stuff and make your own outfit with those items because it still doesnt think you own the items
Yea, it only saves as an outfit not as an actually item you own. But you can save and own the hat by punching the back of your horse and picking the hat back up

After the mission is done, you should get an alert about auto saving your game. If it doesn’t pop up right away, go to sleep and then it should pop up. After saving, reload the saved file and then you should have your cheats saved!

Yep, all that glitters is not gold boahs.. you will lose your outfits if u change it or eliminate by the saveds ones.. it ain't no created outfits to choose in your inventory

I just did it. The outfit you put bin custom 1 needs to have a bandanna saved to it too. He left that out. Sit on the outfit you want from the trapper for 10 seconds . Then you good to go from there.
Its prefference, if you want the best overall horse get buell from the side mission in chapter 6. its fast, strong, has a high stamina (way better than the arabian) and is more beautiful in my opinion, plus its unique

So you just put a random npc hat on and pick back up the outfit hat and it saves the real outfit?!

Still works as of 2024, you have to make sure to “wear bandana” as you stand up, just before you tear down camp.
