I started bass fishing this year and I’m absolutely addicted and have completely given up carp fishing and sold all my gear and have spent the summer travelling the uk coasts . Have caught a lot of bass the biggest 6lb which I was happy with and have learnt so much from these videos
Met Henry in Ireland , Cant / wont say where but he was up to his chest on a low tide. He caught some beauties , double figures, we were fishing waist deep and got a few nice but smaller bass. All released , had a chat with Henry a few times / a great guy. He lives for fishing. Loves Ireland too. Maith an fear Henry ( good man Henry )
Great long form video Henry. The film crew guy was really in his element with that catch. Don't worry, there's surely a beast out there with your name on it.
Just invested in gravity stick kit. Very impressed, tried them today, blanked...but didn't lose any. Thanks for the video Henry, very informative. Thanks too for the honesty....the out take made me chuckle and its a relief to know that its not just mere mortals like me that get snagged so easily!! I'm happy to film for you any time and cast whilst you check tides & cricket 😃 👍
Cracking info Henry. Thanks. Used info here to catch my very 1st Bass of 4lb 3oz from Holywell Bay whilst camping. Was one of the best fishing experiences I've ever had.
Great fishing, the bass fishing in Ireland has come on in heaps and bounds over the last few years. I fish in Clare and catching them right up to Christmas off my mark's on lures. Anyone can catch them on lugworm in the surf using regular beach casting techniques, pully rigs and a 5oz grip lead. But the lures are more fun.
you have got some serious bass fishing in Clare, I'd love to fish some of your beaches on calm nights, and then in big surf conditions with metals and so on.
@@henrygilbey302 yeah there's a lot of sandy coves and from poulnasherry in the Shannon estuary right up as far as Fanore. Yeah the surf seeker saved me from wading in the surf with a beach caster and bucket of lug and packet of sandeel. They go out a long way, and that flutter drives the bass nuts. There's a guy I know who has great sport when the surf is raging with lures. I'm 15 minutes from the coast. I remember you from year's ago fishing off the diving boards with sandeels in kilkee lol
@@SpiralMoss my first ever trip to Ireland was around Kilkee, I have such strong memories of the area............had some bass in my local surf on the 30g and 35g Seekers yesterday, love it!
Nice going. Which part? I've had some really nice bass in some of the estuaries up here in Dublin recently. Mostly on eel shad and homemade subsurface twitch lures.
Used to bait fish for bass in and around Poole Harbour from the shore and in boats with live sand eel. I moved to Hastings a few years ago and have just bought a lure/spinning Rod and reel. Really looking forward to trying it out when the water warms up a bit. Not long now! Exciting. Great vid…
Great video, me and my dad used to watch you on Discovery (i think 90s early 2000s) Your a true ledg Henry loved loved loved your Cornwall Wrasse fishing in the gullies back then, and after getting into sea Angling only 10 yrs ago proper, that was one of the first things I wanted to try stuck in my mind all those years, i did and loved it... now I'm mad for sea fishing, proper rocky marks are sadly not my local haunts (River Mersey & Blackpool are) but get to them when I can in Anglesey. Gonna go through your vids on the channel now happy days!! Tighlines Sir Tightlines.
Really informative, thanks. Inspired me to get back out there and try some new stuff. Need to get my waders on too as you are 5m further forward than I normally fish!
This week I went back at them in my local estuary. Small and anonymous, it’s no more than 3 inches deep for 100m into the sea on a sandy beach. I normally target the Sea Trout , Monday I had 1 Sea Trout 1.5lb to the net , a 2.5lb lost . I went an hour after low from 12.30 to Friday. 11 Bass , 4 Sea Trout, 2 Mackerel, 12 Garfish. Only in South West Ireland, no better place for Sea Lure fishing 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Henry Class videos as always. Savage gear is reasonably priced, quality gear and has caught me plenty of bass and plenty blanks . Its fishing at the end of the day some people dont realise... but the videos are quality👊

Especially on a drunken rainy saterday night.🤣 Allways Verry informative ,and thanks to you a lot of verry good bass are now not only caught but also released, due to your passion and sharing. Is this for real? I thought it was a wind up, the spinal tap of bass fishing. 19.40 "Its easy to walk away without working hard for the bottom" 😆😆😆 Using metals in shallow weedy water when the baitfish are clearly on the surface.... great way to lose lures. Very funny video, but maybe not intentionally so!
Anything # savage gear!!! I personally love to fight a bass on an 8-foot Rovex, Penn battle 2500 reel, 12 lb mono, fair fight! Most soft tails are excellent, Savages included...
In my experience the cheaper lumps of metal are too dense, and don't sink as slowly as Seekers (or Westin Salty). Poundland Toby copies etc don't cast as well, or fish on the pause as well. I bulk buy Seekers at the season start, and they work out under a fiver. You'll find you don't lose as many as your 'cheap' lumps of metal.
er, it's a Savage Gear video, we are using Savage Gear lures............and I would respectfully suggest that the Seeker is doing a few rather unique things depending on how it's fished
Henry your a great fisherman but for fuck sake a pony tail! As the old saying goes: what do you find under a pony’s tail? When you sell out to Savage Gear?
@@mustacheman19 the only reason these short films got made was because a tackle company is pumping a not inconsiderable amount of money into making, so of course we want to highlight the gear we make for bass fishing - it's called marketing, but of course we are trying to help anglers out as well.
