Oh how far the Altima has fallen. Now it’s the official car of temp tags, missing wheel covers, and reckless driving.

I can’t say that’s not true. I have seen more than one FB group dedicated to posting about its “energy”.

Good to know the suspension has been tuned to improve ride comfort.

I had this on tape when it came out. Used to collect brochures as a kid and the tape came with it!

I think I had to send away for it after test driving it at a local dealership.

I did the exact same thing! I had a 1995 altima and did not like the redesign. But tge video was cool!

Notice how loud they're talking to over compensate for how loud this car was inside.

It was still quieter than most other cars in the class at the time.

@@carsandcrashtests I agree it was quieter and it had a much smoother ride. Just didn't care for the styling

@@gabevillarreal96 Yeah. Many griped about the sawed-off, droopy trunk on this generation. A salvage-yard trunk-spoiler improved the looks on my '98, while adding a couple benefits that have nothing to do with fast driving. The spoiler marks the rear of the car when I back-up. Otherwise, the rear of the car is invisible from the driver's seat. It also provides a level area to set packages, while I unlock the car. Otherwise, they'd slide off the sloped trunk!
Then, a $100 set of used Nissan factory alloy rims got rid of the world's ugliest plastic hubcaps!
Finally, I upgraded my feeble, sunburned plastic headlamps to those from the facelifted '00 - '01 version.

@Jonathan-mp7xg Well, my '98 Altima was certainly quieter, and much nicer than the tired, rusty, beat-up '84 Accord it replaced in 2005. Thing was, the '90s Altimas were reliable cars, that just didn't have the 'vibe' of an Accord or Camry. This made Nissans a used-car bargain if you could live without the refinement or reputation of the other two. I paid about half of what a comparable used Accord or Camry would've cost. And so far, my Altima's timing-chain has meant I haven't had to deal with the routine timing-belt replacements required on late '90s Accords and Camrys!

Got some big altima energy there huh

Well, a knock-down, drag-out fight between the syrupy couple would've made things much more exciting, but I still have my '98 Altima, bought used in 2005, and equipped pretty much like this one, except no leather or power-seat. I added a $90 set of salvage-yard Nissan alloy rims, just to get rid of the world's ugliest plastic hubcaps, plus a trunk-spoiler to improve the looks! 230K-miles on it now. Lets see if i'll make 300!
