    • @JU5TINPDX
      @JU5TINPDX Год назад +1

      The Robinson brothers are insecure narcissists who couldn’t get over the fact that every audience on their tour was 80% Zeppelin fans, who just wanted to hear Zeppelin songs. Black crowes drummer Steve Gorman’s book recalls a scene on the tour bus where Chris Robinson was complaining to his then wife, actress Kate Hudson, about how he was tired of singing the Zeppelin songs… whining about the collaboration when she spoke up and shut him up saying “oh, please! Jimmy Page is the best thing that ever happened to you guys!!!”
      She was 100% correct. The fact that they scoffed at his invitation to write songs together shows how stupid they were and suggests that they literally thought they were better then JIMMY PAGE.
      What a mind blowing fuck up…

      In Gorman's book, he explains that Jimmy Page did have a hurt back but the real reason he bailed and cancelled the tour was because Jimmy approached Rich and offered to co-write some tunes for their next album (Page joining up with them rescued the band when they were on life support) ... and Rich said nah, no thanks, we're good. Page had a falling out with all of them except their drummer. Rich said something rude to Page when Page offered to help them out.
      Also, its just the brothers touring with hired guns. And as we know, Steve was essential to their sound as Bonham was essential to Zeppelin.

    • @matthughes4445
      @matthughes4445 5 лет назад +1

      Kinda of. More like Chris and Rich hired a band to back them and tour the country playing the BC's hits. They are the only original members in the lineup. "The duo enlisted all-new members that include guitarist Isiah Mitchell of psych-rock band Earthless, veteran session bassist Tim LeFebvre who appeared on David Bowie’s Blackstar and keyboardist Joel Robinow and drummer Raj Ojha of prog/psych-pop group Once and Future Band."

      I had the album first day it released and was only slightly impressed, Rich's vocals felt a little too "cover band" if that's even possible with Jimmy, but it just didn't vibe like I wanted it to. The short length of the collaboration is probably why it went under the radar for a lot of people, and not to mention there was just so much great music coming out during that time, easy to overlook.

      You mean “great music” like By Your Side and Walking Into Clarksdale? Both of which were released only the year prior to the collaboration. I'm glad the Robinson brothers are getting along now and performing.
    They both really needed the money as time passes by and they were both trying separate bands and career's which were mediocre if that.

      @MattSmith-iq1ld 5 лет назад +2

      If you saw the No Quarter DVD in 1994, and you saw the "core rock band" play "Thank You," Jimmy played that b-bender Les Paul. I had never seen another guitar player play a b-bender except on a Fender before. It kind of freaked me out. Kind of like seeing Alex Lifeson of Rush use a Floyd Rose vibrato system on his Les Paul in the final years before Rush broke up. I know some fans consider stuff like that to be a violation of some sort of religion, but I have never understood that mentality. If you do not dig it, do not buy the guitar. Alex wanted to have a Les Paul tone, but so many of the Rush solos like "Limelight" would have sounded stupid without a whammy bar. When Gibson was finally able to make him one, he went for it. He probably would have gone for it in 1977.

On one of those nights, he used it for that song. If you look carefully, you'll see that Jimmy plays most of the song on a sunburst, but some of the edits have this guitar.

      It was prob that way because Rich is incapable of playing at less than 11. Gorman says live he was at full volume on his Marshall stack. They basically mixed the rest of the band around Rich, Rich was never miked. Even when folks in the front rows complained they couldn't hear vocals, etc., he wouldn't turn down. Gorman played hard and flat out just to be heard on stage.

    • @MattFoleysGhost
      @MattFoleysGhost 5 лет назад

      Ever evolving? Plant wasted our money and time putting out crap for decades being a brand peddler. By his OWN admission - he's apologized for all that crap in the 80's (and 90's). He evolved alright. After 30 years of failing upwards without Pages songwriting, Jonesy arrangements, and Bonhams swing. Until he found the right producer, co-writer, singer, and sideman. Yeah, Page is his old sloppy self, but Plants no better often. Quit your bullshit.
