America is truly blessed to have our national parks! Now if more tourists would show respect,

Agreed. I'm thankful that my favorite President, Theodore Roosevelt, was the driving force behind establishing our National Parks.

President Teddy Roosevelt was west on a trip. A group of hunters had caught a bear cut and tied it to a tree and invited him to shoot it.
      He was outraged!
So began, the national park system.

@@veramae4098 Theodore Roosevelt, often called "the conservation president," impacted the National Park System well beyond his term in office. He doubled the number of sites within the National Park system. As President from 1901 to 1909, he signed legislation establishing five new national parks: Crater Lake, Oregon; Wind Cave, South Dakota; Sullys Hill, North Dakota (later re-designated a game preserve); Mesa Verde, Colorado; and Platt, Oklahoma (now part of Chickasaw National Recreation Area). However another Roosevelt enactment had a broader effect: the Antiquities Act of June 8, 1906. The Antiquities Act enabled President Roosevelt and succeeding Presidents to proclaim historic landmarks, historic or prehistoric structures, and other objects of historic or scientific interest in federal ownership as national monuments. Just saw the CBS Morning video about rewilding Britain. It's one of the most heartening events I've watched lately.
    We're in trouble, fellow Earthlings.
    Paz y luz.

If you are a fan of all things buffalo and bison, there is the National Buffalo Museum in Jamestown, North Dakota. Yep, a herd of buffalo live right there on the grounds. At one time, there were three albino buffalo there, which are sacred to Native Americans.

Regarding all the morons harassing the wild life in the National Parks. How about charging them with a felony and giving them 2 full years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Betting that'll stop that crap.

Beautiful and peaceful. Now as long as they don't stray out of the boundaries of the park and have the idiots in Montana and Wyoming (and the U.S. Division Of Wildlife) shoot them . . .
