Hey Brock, been following for years now. Just wanted to say thanks for all the advice you give us. Fit is king, versatile wardrobes are the way to go, and seikos are awesome.
I loved your last bit of advice; I find that to be more and more the case as I grow my audience through persistent work at the one thing I'm excellent in - reading research and teaching it back. Like you said, it's tedious to 99.9% of people, but hopefully in time the snowball effect will occur.
Jump rope is a great exercise habit, low impact(joints) super fun(endless tricks), plus with weighted jump ropes you can activate all your muscles and get a full body workout quick. Also weighted jump ropes are a great way to keep muscles activated if you can't make it to the gym for a couple days and being a dad you don't have to leave your house to do it.
I'm with Brock. I'm similar height, recently been going to the gym and been wearing fitted clothes to show my physique. From what I gathered, women (not young girls) like this look as well so it's a bonus. When I get a compliment from my 17 year old daughter, I know the outfit is a win 😄Baggy clothes just don't look good on older, smaller men.
Oh, one last thing: a big YES to Uniqlo Supima cotton t-shirts! You turned me on to those a while ago, and I've been wearing them ever since. Great fit and feel, and they launder and hold up very well! Great value! Thanks for the recommendation! Sorry to hijack your comments section 😏!
You are right about fatherhood. Gives perspective about what is important and that some items of clothing are just clothes, so it’s fine to have baby sick on🤣 Great fun but exhausting
For the summer wedding question - something I like to do is skip the jacket and only wear a vest (over the shirt, obviously :D). If you’re wearing a 3-piece suit without a jacket, this can kinda look like you just forgot your jacket 😅, but if you wear an odd vest, I think it can look great. Of course, if the dress code is really formal you can’t really do this, but I think you’d get away with this look at most weddings these days. Also, barrel cuff shirts so you can roll your sleeves up and not lose the cufflinks 😉
With regards to the tissot question(and I think you captured the spirit of what I’m going to say with your response), although tissot isn’t a great “investment”, it is still a great watch for the novice collector.
There is a weird obsession with WIS about "investment grade" watches, as if everybody's interest and financial level is suited to buying $5,000+ watches. No fashion or style guru would advise people to _only_ buy designer clothes or bespoke Saville Row garments regardless of their age, earnings or personal style, yet watch guys do just that. Apply watch guy thinking to cars and imagine going up to somebody driving a Kia and telling them their car is a shitter and they should have bought a Mercedes or Rolls Royce. Nobody would do such a thing.

Agree, they are also an accessory, a piece of style that connotes something about the wearer, informs the outfit, etc. But they are not primarily a piece of jewelry like a bracelet of necklace. Expensive cars have nicer leathers, better wood trim, more horsepower, better performance, etc. Expensive clothes have nicer fabrics, higher stitch density, more interesting cuts and patterns. I do not find any additional utility in an expensive watch; same sapphire, same steel, less accuracy than a cheap quartz, comparable performance to a Seiko/Miyota movement. Aside from a logo, I don’t see anything that is “better.” If you must want to wear a brand logo on your wrist, OK.

I think, being single only a little bit about is look but most of it is attitude. I am single by choice. I have a mistress her name is “Academia.” She can be a very cruel but rewarding lady. I actually really enjoy learning. I have certain days where, I don’t want to but for the most part, I can do it forever! I am taking an actual day off because I have been going almost 3 weeks straight so, getting a little burnt out lol.
I'm really looking for looser fit of sweatpants due to being shorter and not being a skinny person. It's really hard to find some without being so expensive.

I find myself completely agreeing with your last two pieces of advice, but some part of me can’t help but think that they contradict each other…. following your crazy ideas and not being afraid to change course a number of times rather than bending to the “practical advice” of family/friends…. yet the “flywheel of success” being more of a commitment and persistence at focusing on one thing, perfecting that, despite it being potentially rather mundane and “practical”. Please know that I am making this comment, and pointing this out, not at all as a criticism, because I actually believe that you are correct on both counts, but I wanted to give you a chance to comment on this, because I’m sure you can do it more articulately and elegantly than I can, and I think that your answer to this would be a help to a number of your viewers, who possibly have the same question as me? I guess my take on reconciling these would be that your first bit of advice is really more applicable to somebody in their 20s, but that at some point your life transitions to more reflect your answer to the second question?
Valid question and well put. You seem to be able to articulate nicely! You're right that those two pieces of advice seem to contradict, and if you look at them at the same scale (day to day basis) then they do. If you do something consistently, it only takes a few years to become great at it, maybe even an expert (and sometimes even a top performer). Life is pretty long. If you dedicated 6 years to something and grind it out during that period, then switched gears for the next 6 years, you'd be VERY good at a lot of things. So you do have to grind and cut your teeth and do the repetitive work. If you enjoy the overall topic/skill, you won't dread doing the work (most days). But at a macro level - looking at a whole lifetime - you should definitely explore different things, unless you're one of those people who just totally knows what their one calling is (although I think this is extremely rare).
Who's fine looking strong feet are those at 3:15? ;) Nice video, Brock. It's still always helpful just hearing which brands/clothing companies you're sporting. Heard a couple I'll be checking out.
I chased money in my early 20’s, and thought I wanted to start a business big mistake! I am happy I got my Business degree. I like aspects of business like marketing and some of the psychology but my passion has always been Wildlife Conservation but since, I can’t become a Natural Wildlife Engineer, I want to become an Eco-Blogger instead. I live in Ireland with a good income, but when I hear people from the US talk about paying $400 for a pair of shoes and $1500 for a suit then I have to question are we on a different planet. That question was about diminishing returns, so the prices I listed represented the very high end for each category (the point at which it doesn't really make sense to spend more). I definitely don't recommend that everyone spend those amounts on clothes.

Odd question but on the last point of your "6 Things Guys Should Start Doing (Before Age 30)": have you objectively examined the facts surrounding group differences in innate cognitive ability? I feel this is the current best litmus test for determining whether someone is truly honest and objective or just another cowardly, product of their time, intellectually dishonest conformist dogmatist who puts conforming and status above of logic and consistency. (R word)s are these genetic clusters that have been separated by a number of things: separated geographically, separated themselves, through endogamy, and this is how you end up with these differences. If there are geographical differences, then they've been subject to a different ecology, so you end up with differential levels of Darwinian selection for different traits and there are other effects as well: founder effect, genetic drift or whatever. r/K selection: Africans are r selected. What r selection means is that they adapated to an ecology which is easy but unstable in which you can be wiped out at any moment. The prospect of being wiped out at any moment brings about investment in copulation and having as many offspring as possible and hoping they survive. This group puts relatively little into nurture, instead producing many offspring. These ecologies do not select in favor of intelligence. We are more K selected though less so than North East Asians.
