I am turning 42 and these are all solid advice. Getting off social media is the best thing that I did when I turned 40 (I am only on RUclips). Thanks for sharing your wisdom brother.
I think RUclips is different, although they're really pushing short form videos, which is a bit alarming. But I think there's a massive difference between finding a 15-10 minute video and choosing to watch it (RUclips, TV, podcast) vs. letting something like TikTok autoplay 7 second clips for you.
You made some great points! When I turned 30 a few years ago, I felt a lot more sure of myself and confident, so nice to hear that continues when you hit 40! I would add spend more time with close relatives and ask them questions about their upbringing, their stories, their life, learn from others who have even more lived experience. Thanks for sharing! Useful advice as a 27 year old who's hit a crossroads and wants a change. I am fortunate to have a safety net and can live with my parents and ive even got a good job who have allowed me to take a few months off to take a break and figure out what I wanna do next... have lots of half baked ideas, few strong motivations, but I'm a busy bee who wants to do something fun and good for the world, couldn't care less about money, I'm sure I'll figure it out.
I feel the exact same. Life took a turn for me during COVID and I moved back in with my parents and switched careers to become a teacher. However, to Brock's first point over the last few years I found that teaching just took too much energy out of me. So I've since been thinking about what else I could do that's good for the world, but nothing has grabbed me. Since I've saved up money I've decided that at the end of this year I'm just going to hit the road and see what happens. I'm about to turn 30 and feel like I don't have any direction at the moment, but I am trying to make the most of not being tied down. I find that it helps to know that others are feeling the same thing, so just know that there are many of us that are still trying to figure it out as well and that you are not alone
Others have probably mentioned this already but audiobooks are also pretty soothing whenever you don't feel like reading a physical book although I do still enjoy both options. I'm in my middle 30's so I appreciate the video Brock.

I'm 37 and there are some things I'm grieving about, like the fact that I still don't have a spouse or family, but I've been able to achieve more financial independence over these past 7 years as well as become more useful to others. Even though I have not been focusing on working out enough for several months now, I'm still a lot more physically capable than some people I know who are several years younger. So, those are some wins.
I hear you. I’ll be 37 in a few months. I don’t have a spouse. I don’t have children. I’m not grieving over it though. I believe I don’t have those things because I don’t want them as much as I think I do.
34 myself, but still don't have a partner nor a sense of financial freedom. Still just toiling away at relatively low salary positions. Only problem now is, I'm dealing with a genetic autoimmune condition and cervical instability. My advice to people under 30... Start prioritizing your health. You can't do sht if you're not healthy. You don't want to end up tired and unable to impose your will on things when you still have so much ahead to do.

Great words of wisdom Brock! I live by a lot of this advice and you are soo right about if you don't live the traditional lifestyle that people give you grief about it. One of the biggest bits of advice I need to work on this year is to just worry about myself and my well being. Just want to enjoy things while i'm still around.
Let me begin by saying what a truly eye-opening and informative video it was. I must agree with about 95% of the recommendations you suggest. I will be retiring from my secular employment this May 2025 for 5 years. I just turned 70 on January 1st, and since my retirement, I have had the opportunity to do and explore many of the things you have spoken about. In fact, a close friend of mine invited me to travel to Las Vegas and it was my very first time there, it was a different experience, I have also traveled outside of the United States, and recently visited New York City it was a solo trip and quite an interesting time and I just started taking classes as a senior citizen at a local community college, which means my classes are free and I have gotten back into my passion of calligraphy and writing with fountains pens...it is said 40 is the new 20, I'm not sure I exactly know what that means, however as you age and gain more knowledge you will not fear getting more mature but rather come to appreciate your own personal life experiences greatly. Thanks for sharing.

There is never any need to get worked up or to trouble your soul about things you can't control. These things are not asking to be judged by you. Leave them alone." Even 2000 years ago there was so much to have an opinion about apparently 😄 Saying "I don't know" is indeed liberating.

I am 38 and this past decade has been the most purposefully lived period of my life. Here are my tips: 1) Read books that will change your life (Health, Finance, Psychology) and implement them right away 2) Keep a Journal (Write down lessons you learned, the good and the bad) 3) Exercise like your life depends on it (I went from working out 3x to 6x a week and now I am in the best shape of my life) 4) Stop worrying about investing in the right stocks and start worrying about investing in the right people and moments (family, life milestones, memories). 5) Take a lot of pictures and videos of your kids if you have them. When you're older, those captured memories are like injections of happiness worth more than gold.
Can you please help me to choose a suit for my graduation I'm 34 and I never wear a suit before and I'm studying dentistry in another country nad this is the best moment maybe in my life and for my family too I really need a help
