- I have finally found a way to program the GM300 (and possibly other types of Motorola DOS only radios) on Windows 7. This is courtesy of this website:
getglitched.com...
This is using a DOS emulator call DOS BOX and the original GM300 software which will allow you access and change the I/O pin settings and tune/align the radio when necessary. So far it is has worked flawlessly on my GM300's. I will be trying other types of software such as Maxtrac and Spectra soon.
I just programmed a Motorola Maxtrac radio using this information on my new AMD Ryzen 7 - 8 core Win 10 Pro computer. I had never seen the website you referenced so I never knew the specific DOSBox settings I needed. Thank you so much for the "191 cycles" tip. That was the single piece of information that I had been missing all this time. I used an old USB to serial cable I bought at a garage sale for $1.00. It just happened to be an FTDI chip cable so it worked like a champ. I can now retire my old DOS / Windows XP laptop that was about to die anyway! Thanks again!
Excellent ! following your tutorial I got it to work first time using a 3Ghz dual core PC running windows 10 Professional. Many thanks for sharing this info and creating the video.
You really really helped me big time
I was getting the error I had no idea that the 191 had to be true.i have the radius sm50
dude you saved me a whole day of googling this shit, thanks a lot, i have the same radio as you GM300 and bunch of HT1000 that i have got from an auction, so far i am knocking my head trying to get them to send and receive.
Did you figure out how to send and receive through serial port? I can’t figure it out.
Thanks! Will be trying soon on my M120 and M130 radios!
Hi, Great video, however the link to the web site for the DosBox plus info on setting it up to read the GM300 is no long available. Shame this has happened with the number of GM300 and other radios out there.
I have the Motorola radius sm50 and I need to change the pl tone.its a gmrs repeater.your a life saver man I looked all over for why the #7 opcode error wrax810

Serial1=directserial realport :com 1
Will assign a port as long as the device is using com1 and the device is turned on and connected to computer.now I am using com 1 as an example.if your device manager said com 2 then serial would be com 2
thank you for sharing hope it make something good to my gm300 radius my main Responders Action Tv 73s DV7BKG

How do you adjust the cycles?
I could never get dosbox to work properly, congrats !
I have radio doctor working fine on vista prem
Where can I find that program? Thanks in advance
@@asappestcontrol1250 in yahoo groups, search for the name radio doctor gm300
Thanks
With dosbox you have to assign a port otherwise it won't work.your application has assigned port yes but dosbox needs to see the port otherwise it will not work
Very helpful. Thank you!
Hey, mate.

WHAT IS POWER SUPPLY VOLTAGE FOR PROGRAMING DEVICE?
Thanks for the video. I'm hoping to get this to would with my GTX using the correct software. Tried to check out the link and it goes to a page that requires you to install an extension to your browser. Is that right?
Any recommendations as to a USB to serial adapter?
Strange, I set mine to 191 but still get the #7 error
I have old dos computer plus 3 spares for this purpose always had problems eith usb to serial converters
I'm getting "Directory c:\gm300v.5 doesn't exist" messages. I'm entering the mount commands correctly. I'm following the instructions the best I can. The Com port settings are correct. I tried copying a few (from separate download sources) GM300 files, one at a time, into DosBox. I tried GM300 version 4 instead of 5. What am I missing?
I would like to learn how to program these old radios.
Please tell me what i need to buy to program these radios.
Please give me links to everything i need to buy

Isn’t working for me. Need help
alright so after following the tutorial step by step, i still can't read the radio, when i test the COMM it says Communication OK but then when i hit F2 to read radio it fails!! I talked to a Motorola tech today, he said the software has to be a north american software if the radio is meant to be used in NA, if it is European i will need the European software, the program i downloaded says Motorola Asia so I am kinda confused. any help is much appreciated.
certified30 his is correct, email me directly and I will be able to help you.
thanks for the massage, but there is no way for me to email you as it appears that your don't have that option activated in your page.

i just sent you an email
Why can't I access the website above?
You can programs gm950e?
id like to know how to program or activate tone squelch on my gm300 thanks
If you have programming capabilities for you radio and a computer that can run the program, you need to go to the channel data screen after reading the radio. For each channel or mode it will have a location for encode and decode data. Filling in the data with a valid CTCSS TONE or a DCS code will activate the feature. On the newer radios in ungrounding the mike will allow you to monitor the frequency. On some radios there are buttons that might be programmable as a monitor switch. Be careful when you play round with the software and avoid accessing the radio alignment page unless you have the proper service equipment to properly change parameters of the radio. The FCC does not take too kindly to radios that have been misaligned and interfere with other communication.

@@beastg58 No, i gave up and have let some prof do that 😂
Seriously someone needs make a windows based program that cranks your c speed down automatically . I got a Belkin serial adapter in the package at a church sale with software I installed & that same link this was 1 year ago I turned the USB port speed down hours of my life gone it wouldn't work . had serial to RJ 45 adapter no hope.
Reacently I got a good dos IBM win 98 I got a Motorola rib box ihave RSS all on USB I tried burning to CD ROM installing in C: drive nothing but issues . Then I came across a ham that got RSS on floppy guess what it needed an optional disk to install in C: drive so I could not go back to the 80's now chit canned the whole thing .
link is dead
i got the motorola m10 how do i change the wattage power on it?
ive seen a guy brink an old radio using dos box and i laughed my ass off.. i dont claim that i know all but i know for sure if its dos software just use pure dos.. came on people dos computers are out there hamfests are the best and cheapest way if you find an old dos comp.. if you wanna take the chance of bricking your radios thats fine but i rather make sure i still have a radio after i programed it.
rob morgan you run the risk of bricking your radio using a native DOS machine as well, nothing is perfect. If you happen to have the lab versions of programming software than bricking the radio becomes a non issue since you can reflash the eeprom of the radio to correct a corrupted codeplug. I have programmed about 20 gm300 and maxtrac radios using DOS box and I haven't bricked on yet but I am sure it will happen. I have had it happen on a native DOS machine a few times so it's bound to happen with this.
@@plop55 Hey Brian I have Rss on a cd rom and used it back in the late 90s early 2000 to program some maxtracs but cant remember what machine I used to do it. Is it possible that the software is windows based since it is on cd rom? I don't remember using dos but may have. Any chance you could jog my memory and tell me what i need to do? I have the rib, the cables and software just confused with the software being on a cd.
