    Great video. I have some questions please. That AcDelco site also supports flashing European GM car Opel and Chevrolet? When you replace a module on the car to programme it the replacement module needs to be new or you can programm also second hand module on the car? Thank you.

      Yes it will do European GM as well. GM allows you to reuse module and program them to your care (usually). There are some very new makes and models that will not allow you to put in a used PCM.

    May have asked you this question before......did yours work on an older Class 2 car (2004 and older)? The one I got simply wouldn't communicate on Pin 2. Tech2Win wouldn't work, nor would SPS. Worked great on our other car that runs on GMLAN though. Had to return it and get a MDI 1 clone. Wondering if I just got a bad one.

      Edit: I see completely different subscriptions and prices so I tried to reach the site with an US VPN and now I see what you told me. In my country there are different offers for different prices not like in the US what I didn't know. In my case I would have to pay either 39€ for 2 hours of SPS or 22€ a day for SPS2 + Service Information. This whole difference in country really confused me and now I understand that.

    • @frugalprepper
      @frugalprepper  3 года назад +3

      You can, but if you need GDS2 I would recommend getting the one with the hard drive. GDS2 is real tricky to get working from the downloads and it's all seutp and working on the drive. Tech2Win goes up to about 2010-11 and everything after that will need GDS2. This will give you full bidirectional controls and allow you to program keys/fob set options, ete. SPS is for programming Modules.
      To run SPS you will need a drive with Windows10 and the latest Java on it. I will update the firmware on the MDI, install a new J2534 Wrapper the first time you use it with SPS. Then when you put your old drive in to run GDS 2 it will come up and tell you you need to update your PC software to match the firmware on the MDI. You have to download Chrome go to AC Delco TDS and go to the Utility Tab and download the updated MDI software and it will work. This will happen about 2 times a year when GM comes out with a firmware update and you program with it.
      I use the drive they sent me to run GDS2 only, but Tech2Win will work on it too. I run my Tech2Win and SPS on a Separate Windows 10 drive. I've actually considered getting second MDI to just run the GDS2 with and never updating it.

    How do you work around SPS2 programming now that clicking on vin takes you to Techline Connect? The subscription for Techline Connect is $4k+

    • @frugalprepper
      @frugalprepper  11 месяцев назад

      You just buy a VIN to SPS2 and then when you go in it gives you the option to download Techline connect and install it. The SPS is now part of Techline Connect, it will install GDS2 and Tech2Win and everything else, but they will not run with out a subscription, but you can still access the SPS to program.

    • @frugalprepper
      @frugalprepper  2 года назад +1

      Yes, after 2006 or 07. But you will have to call the Aftermarket AC Delco support center, to get them to modify the BCM and the ECM/PCM software on their servers to enable the cruise control operation. They charge $120 due to changes on their end. You will have to then spend the additional $40 to download the software for your VIN. Some vehicle models only need the BCM software changed and others need both BCM and ECM/PCM software changed. The you can install the required parts for cruse control and re-flash the PCM/BCM.
      On older cars say 2000ish through 2006 you can reprogram the RPO codes via Tech 2 Win, just enable them. The RPO Code for cruise is K34
      1999 and back you will have to buy the actual module that suppored cruise control and all the other RPO codes and replace the physical module. Also physical wiring may need to be installed, as not all harnesses had all options included.

      The pirate software they are giving you is Tech2Win and GDS 2. Those are going to require s subscription on Techline Connect to use, and they aren't cheap. GDS2 Light Duty (2010 and newer) - 3 Days $64.00 - 1 Month $254.00 - 1 Year $644.00. Tech2Win (Most things 2009 and older) - 3 Days $62.00 - 1 Month $252.00 - 1 Year $616.00. The pirate GDS2 only goes through 2017 though I believe, so for anything newer you will have to purchase a subscription. The programming piece has to be purchased by VIN number for $45 for 2 years on Techline connect, and programming is done online via SPS. SPS doesn't do diagnostics it is for programming only. No chances taken, works with WiFi and RJ45. The MDI 2 is an investment and one should invoice accordingly. The VCM 3 is built on the same platform as the MDI 2 and named Bosch MTS 6531. The VCM 3 with MDI 2 use CAN FD and ISO13400 DoIP.
    Good luck getting the MDI to use those protocols.
