- This is my hands-on review on the brand new 2023 TUDOR Black Bay Red. I’ll compare the new Burgundy BB (reference M7941A1A0RU-0001) against the previous generation (reference M79230N-0009) as well as the 40mm ROLEX No Date Submariner (reference 114060).
I’ve also included bonus footage of the brand new TUDOR Black Bay 54 (reference M79000N-0001) as well as the BB Red in the original rubber strap (reference M7941A1A0RU-0002). Enjoy the video guys!

The new bb red looks so much smaller than the old. The subtle lug width change and having the dial closer to the crystal makes such a big visual difference

Nice review! Wow, the differences are salient. It looks huge on your wrist, but obviously that has more to do with wrist size than the actual size. I'm looking forward to trying one on.

Love that red bezel. That watch is very good value if you're after a dive watch compared to other brands offering in regards to quality and price, other thing people never say anything about Rolexs lines of text, just a thought I have no problem with that. Another excellent comparison KC

According to Brent Miller Time the new model is smaller in every dimension:
40.7mm case
13.7mm thick
49.2mm lug to lug
21mm lug width

Alexander from “WatchAdviser” reported that bracelet width was 21x16mm. So that would be the same as the 41mm sub. It looks thinner in your comparison with the older version. Overall it looked smaller that the old version! I love it!!! It will be perfect for my 8” wrist.

@@KCTimeShare if it has a lug width of 21mm and thinner bracelet of 21x16mm and over all wears small than the original……. Then yes I would add it to my collection despite the fact that I already have the original BB with eta and with in-house movt.
Bb58 925 and a few others have METAS
I don't believe the 925 has the METAS certification.

The dial face on the newer Burgundy looks smaller for sure than the older version, even though they are both 41mm

It is a solid watch indeed!
The dial of the new BB seems blacker & as such, the contrasts between the dial, hands & indices seem more pronounced which helps legibility. Add a thinner case profile, the new BB is definitely a big improvement over the old.
Oh totally! I would choose the new BB over the previous generation everyday!

Interesting comparison between the new BB and sub. Regarding lug width on the new BB, did they slim that down too? When you compare the old and new, the new looks thinner.
It is hard to tell as I didn't have my measuring tool with me. I would want to know the answer for my own reference as well 🙃
I believe lug width on the new BB Burgundy is 21mm, down from 22mm.

I just wonder if after a couple of years the secondery market value of the BB will crash like other tudor models. the sub will hold its value for sure. its a timeless design but maybe worth waiting
I have no doubt that the BB will NOT hold its value, I think it will depreciate like the rest of the Tudor offerings 🙃
this watch checks off all of my wish boxes except maybe a bezel color. Will wait until price craze drops a bit
I'm fairly certain that Tudor will release new bezel colours in the future so you should be fine 🫡
Where is the ceramic bezel? Aluminium bezel insert is history.
Will have to go to the Tudor Pelagos range for the ceramic bezel 🫣
You can clearly see that the new one is not actually 41mm across the bezel (it’s 40mm if you measure it).
Also that the lug width is now 21mm and no longer 22mm (Why does nobody notice or care about Tudors fantastic move to 21mm lug widths on so many models?).
Don’t worry, Tudor do not always notice or know about such things either 😂

It depends on who you ask. Some may say it is for the vintage style. Another person may say it is a way to keep the cost down. 🙃

People would not know they are “late” because there is no accurate time telling ability 🤣
And then there are lots of other details that separate the Tudor from the Rolex. - Yes the new BB41 is much improved over the previous generation. I notice the watches you viewed were not all wrapped in plastic as they now seem to do more and more everywhere. You can’t really interact with a watch then. They just have to live with the expense of an display model. I wouldn’t buy an ex display for full price, no matter how much plastic they wrap it in.
There are some Tudor display pieces for people to try on but when you do decide to buy one, there are often watches at the back (in the safe) which are brand new ready for you to take home with. I hope this helps!
