These in studio face to face sessions are always the best.
Agreed… Idk why, but Something about them are just better…

If anyone watching this is not familar with the Mazar e sharif / Qala i Jangi prison uprising in Afghanistan in 2001, I'd recommend searching YT for the 50-minute documentary "battle of qala i jangi 2001" and watching that first. It will give you some really good background on what the guest is talking about, including footage of the event.
Its amazing footage
Thanks dude
This is probably one of the best I’ve heard ever. Well done Dave and Jack. No spin. History. Courage
I started listening to this by mistake, it auto-played at the end of something else. Now I'm close to 40 minutes in and I'm hooked! I don't even know what half of these acronyms mean, doesn't matter! This guy can tell a story!
Oddly enough Justin came to speak to my college class on Afghanistan a few years ago when he was at the War College in Newport. Super nice guy.
Jack/Dave, it would be awesome if you could invite Brad Thomas, former Ranger/Delta Force operator, who’s was in Mogadishu at the very time of Black Hawk Down. And who’s an accomplished musician with his own rock band made up of veterans. A very nice gentleman.
This is so fucking entertaining. Bravo TH for securing an interview with such a LEGEND
He worked with Mike Spann what a legend.
Fascinating story. Glad it’s up on RUclips for future generations to listen to this fascinating slice of history.
Justin's diction, delivery, word choice... as good as it gets in this context.
Incredible interview and perspective. Justin’s the man.
This is an incredible channel. Been binging on your stuff for the past several days. Very well done.
It’s crazy I fell asleep watching a newer episode and woke up to this one. I’ve watched it before but the second time was even better. I’ve read about and looked up to Justin and just love hearing his story. Great episode I swear I could watch it again and enjoy it.
Listening to Justin talk about his experiences with the local Afghan fighters and his Teams just adds more context to the books "Masters of Chaos" and "Not A Good Day To Die: Operation Anaconda" that's I've read previously. Such an amazing group of men amongst those "Texas" ODAs that were in country first to fight.
Outstanding episode. Well done, Team House.
As a Georgian; I’m proud to say he lived here for a while! Never a negative word about Georgia from the people I call heroes! Makes me proud of my state!
If my GF’s name is Georgia am I a Georgian?!
Green Bret Justin Sapp, congratulations on all your accomplishments !
My favorite Earnie Tabata comment had to do with commanders intent. He said, "IF THE COMMANDER SAYS TO TAKE OUT THE TARGERT FOR 72 HOURS AND YOU DESTROY IT BEYOND REPAIR, YOU STEP ON YOUR DING DONG WITH A GOLF SHOE."
@@chaoticcaninejb I was jumping with Ernie on day out of a twin otter on Rhine Luzon. He had that Protec helmet with the Kevlar cover on. We went to stand up and Ernie was having a hard time, so I grabbed him by his.main lift web, leaned back and pulled to help him stand up. He didn't move, and his eyes got as big a saucers behind his glasses. I thought he somehow had his gear hooked in the webbing of the seat, so I traced around him until I found the problem. He had forgotten to undo his seat belt. When we hit the ground I packed my gear and made my way to him. He said, "You aren't going to tell anyone are you?"
I responded with, "Not until there is someone to tell." We laughed about that for a long time afterwards.
So?@@chaoticcaninejb
Just watched the clip, had to watch this episode in its entirety.
Really enjoyed this good work guys
Just wanted to thank you guys for all the content you all put out. I've gotten through Civil Affairs Selection and am in the process of going through their pipeline as a CA Officer. All the episodes you all put out are great, but I really feel the ones you all have with officers should be required listening for military officers. Both of your perspectives as NCOs and the officers you have on here really give great insight into the relationship officers should aspire to have with their NCOs and junior enlisted. All these episodes pump me up and I believe they are helping to educate future service members. Thanks again and I can't wait for the next episodes!
Can't find anything else from Sapp on RUclips.. you guys got lucky to have him on!.
What an amazing interview..A very composed calm personality. Very detailed and coherent.. Thanks so much for this one 🙏🏻
Jack, David... awesome stuff. Not sure how I missed this one half a year ago but luckily I found it now. Made all that food I ate settle a tad easier as the show made me sit and take my mind off of belly and bs. All the best to you two. Take care and again, thank you
I haven’t watched this entire video yet so I don’t know if this guy will mention the book by Doug Stanton, “Horse Soldiers”. A pretty thorough account of the first Americans into Afghanistan after 9/11. It’s an amazing book.
Those who came later to the game may know that story as "12 strong" (Book and movie) after it was retitled from "Horse Soldiers"
I've read, or more accurately listened to, The Horse Soldiers at least four times already and love it just as much every time. Unfortunately first in, Gary Schroen's book, has no audio version so I'm still crawling my way through it because I don't ever have time to sit down and read. This is the first time I've heard of the book First Casualty and I'm going to go track it down immediately. LOVE this episode!
@@Doggtyred I’m not aware that “Horse Soldiers” has been retitled.
Great content, I remember all of this, great to here the backstory there.
Great interview
Excellent interview, really enjoyed it
I know the “Angel of Death”. She was a navigator on the AC-130H with the 16 SOS. 😎
Fabulous interview! On a side point…. I wish I had the book list behind you guys. 🤔
Excellent job with Sapp and of course given what has happened last year, sad to hear
Excellent guest and content🇺🇸🤙🏼
I remember seeing those guys patrolling Fleming Key. If the sand fleas and no seeums don't get you the Bull and Lemon Sharks that live right off the Tower just might.
Thank you for sharing guys.
Great Interview!!
Deep behind enemy lines lmao!!!! That was hilarious Jack.
one of the my favorite interviews
Sap gear really does have some neat security tools! Me gusta.
Great work. Thanks gentlemen
Amazing episode
Cool interview for sure.
This guy was whistling Dixie every time he talked though 😂
Dammit it’s all I could focus on after seeing your comment
WOW good one!
Can you imagine how this guy must feel knowing that we just literally handed Afghanistan back to the Taliban after all he and his teammates had to go through? I can't imagine
His initial infill and fights are my first deployment I just recognize all his names he’s stating
Kinda cool that Justin did part of his schooling in India. He's totally on point about the sports thing - very low priority here. Academics above all.
Hi guys, love the show. I was wondering what your top 5 Vietnam to GWOT era book recommendations were? Really interested in more JSOC/Agency type stuff. I have Ben Milligan’s book in the cart already but want to buy a few at one time. Thanks!
a top 5 might be difficult so maybe just a general list of books you particularly liked

Yo Justin. John Dz from the Legion. Looking good. I still have some dark hair (lol). I last saw Mark S. at a reunion with BG (then) Mul Hol here in Fayetteville in 2006. LTC (ret) Hoss was there. So was COL Green (who worked with us in Jordan in 2003) Stay strong brother.

Greatest one yet. I am also biased as Ive always been fascinated with the initial part of Afghanistan. Having read First In and Jawbreaker. Along with all of the others surrounding Anaconda. Very interesting to hear about the Iranians there too. Great job Team. I’m buyin the book
Guess he hadn't read The Bear Went Over The Mountain.

The best question is: What name did enemy forces in Iraq have before counter-insurgency?

Is Justin Sapp the grandson of my 2nd cousin Stanley Lewis Sapp, a Green Beret killed in Vietnam in 1965?
Does anyone else keep hearing a beap or whistling when he speaks?

Was he the last one out!
This was great to hear! I’m curious as to who is “Dalton Fury”? Could this guy be him 🤔.
I googled Dalton Fury once and it gave his real name, but I don't recall it.
@@sballantine8127 Dalton Fury is Tom Greer. He was an Army officer, served as a Ranger and Delta Force operator. He passed away a few years ago from cancer unfortunately.

Wasn’t The American Taliban dude found at this location? Curious if he was there.
Yes he was
👍
At age 5 or so he gravitated to the kids whose dads were of a certain profession?? Ok. And by 6 - 7 decided he wanted a career in the military? 🤔
I'm an A&R now tell me?
Does justin know anything about the giant killer. O Flaherty.
??
He said he was so interested in the prisoners but instead of going with Mike and Dave he went to go get a truck for someone? And those two went alone. 🤦♂️
It's tier one babble
So what was the "pit" and how did it work. A lot of work up but no delivery.
It’s all interesting, but unimpressive.
This guy sounds just like Nick Mullen 😂
Great video. SINE PARI
