As a Jordan Fan I actually disagree. Stockton was Clutch, crafty and he had an amazing shot. If Jordan is the Assassin of Basketball then Stockton is the Rogue. After Magic and Bird and before Kobe and AI... Stockton was the only Guard in the NBA I feared as a Fan. And since Magic and Bird were Forwards.. A man with Isaiah Thomas' skills but also whom had complete control of his Emotions. Scary.

Stockton was a master at gaining a physical advantage over bigger players by disguising illegal moves perfectly. He had this move where he would drive into the defenders body, grab his forearm, and pull it to slingshot himself right by and towards the basket. The refs would never see it. It drove defenders crazy, but it was a perfect move. Even here, he drives right up into Jordan’s chest, and when Jordan he pushes back he has a perfectly timed flop to sell the foul. He got into Jordan’s head doing that. Little things like that were basketball artistry.

+Paul Rosenberg Yeah! stockton was a crafty little guy ... great passer ... but as all those little guys they know how to slide the shoulder and elbow hard like a sting to compensate for the size they lack and he gave MJ a nice nudge, maybe twice, before MJ probably told him not to play that shit with him ... he probably said to do that to harper, Longley, or Brown but not him cause he would lay him out ... I would do so too if little john tried to start some physical shit ... i would give him a good "stay still buddy" slap to let him know what day it is.

Ra Glasgow Not when it's a petite selfless wholesome suburban brunette w/ some love curves like Sally Fields doing it to a big huge strong athletic black brother or sister it isn't. Ya gotta have some fetish to basketball, or else it's just like sawing wood off tree limbs, or sanding wood from 9 to 5, if all there was was shooting, dribbling, passing, stealing, blocking, offensive sets, defensive sets, what have ya. It's good to get a little spice in there mixed in w/ all the other necessary stuff to make that other necessary stuff fun instead of boring. A dynamically talented power forward like a Charles Barkley for instance would bring certain other spices to the arena, whether I'd be hand clapping, foot stomping, tongue talking, hitting 1st against the opposing team's inside players every time down the floor, swinging on the rim (in moderation) after a 2-handed power dunk to add pizzas; all stuff different from what Sally Fields would do. What makes basketball so vastly different from many sports is that you've got so much physical diversity to it.

  • @chrisaultman1

Second best PG ever and pound for pound, toughest SOB in league history. And for the people I've always heard say Isiah was better, nope. Stock is a MUCH better passer, defender and shooter in FGs, 3s and free throws! Isiah is barely a better scorer, but that's not a PG's job. In fact, if you compare an equal number of games as starter, Isiah has zero advantage. And if you consider points plus assists, Stock leads to more scoring. And here's where Isiah gets ANNIHILATED. John played NINETEEN years and in 17 of them, played every game, was still a good PG at 41 and voluntarily quit! He is light-years ahead of Isiah in assists and steals and those records will never be approached. As for the Dream Team, when most players on it hate your guts and your own coach doesn't even fight for you, why screw up chemistry on the greatest team in sports history?! Isiah was exciting to watch and somewhere between the third and fifth best ever. But Stockton is the all-time prototype point.

Stockton was old school, no fancy dribble, shoot or pass but all fundamental, you get your ass lazy he will steal you, thrown killer pass in front your face, made a 3pts..
Stockton to Malone oh yeah baby..
In 1998 playoff they swept 61-21 Lakers with Shaq, Kobe, Van exel, Eddie Jones, Horry, they crushed 56-26 Spurs with the twin tower Robinson and Duncan, they beat Rockets with Hakeem, Barkley, Drexler, they beat Bulls 2-0 in regular season and gave us a thrilling 4-2 Finals..
In 1997 playoff they beat 57-25 Rockets and 56-26 LA, they were beast..

He really was. That's what made his NBA career coming out of Long Beach St. People just remember the shot to end the '98 Finals, but he really was a sound defender. That & he developed his 3-point shot. Was pretty dismal coming into the League but ended up with a career 37% average. He was a Jerry Sloan guy.
