  • In this video, we visit some of the most popular, as well as lesser known temples and pagodas, in the ancient city of Bagan, Myanmar. We show you sunrise at Buledi Pagoda (Bulethi), the lacquerware village of Myin ka bar and water pouring ceremonies from the full moon of Kason. We also show you some of the realities and challenges of ebikes and visiting the ruins, especially during the height of the day.

    I visited Pagan in February 1993. It was the greatest experience of my life. I can see that it is not too crowds. In 1993 there was nobody...a real pleasure

    Dope! They have ebikes there! That is awesome!

      Yep! It's a relatively new thing. Before they only had bicycles and horse and cart. Definitely makes it a lot quicker to get around!

      believe it or not, these ebikes are all imported from China.

    good video... one of the best on Bagan. I'm going there myself next month so your captions one the names of the pagodas help a lot in seeing which ones are worth visiting. Are the bikes easy to handle?

    • @Notesofnomads
      @Notesofnomads  6 лет назад

      Thank you so much! Glad that the name captions helped. We try to make our videos as useful as possible. :) The bikes take a little getting used to, but most people pick it up fairly quickly. The biggest challenge is the sandy landscape. But generally you can avoid the really soft sand by keeping an eye out and riding around it rather than through it. They max out at 45 km/hour so they can't reach crazy speeds.

      Thanks so much for responding. Myanmar is on my bucket list. It hasn't helped though that I've fallen in love with Nihon and keep returning 💕💕

    Hi there thanks for being though with your Bagan experience but i still want to ask further about your sunrise and sunset experience,,, which pagodas do you recommend which is less touristy but got nice spots for that instagram look of sunrise and sunset plus those balloons on the horizon...

    • @Notesofnomads
      @Notesofnomads  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks for watching, Enrico! Unfortunately, we can't say about the balloons because they are only during the cooler months. We went in May, when it is hot and also low season. So the number of people we saw will be wildly different during the high season when you can see/take balloons. Buledi is often cited as a lesser known pagoda, but not sure it is really that unknown now. But compared to the other places we visited for sunrise/sunset, it was less crowded. There is not that much space up there though, so you'd probably want to go early to get a good perch. Probably the best view was sunrise at Shwe San Daw because you can see a lot of temples/pagodas on the horizon. It is well-known though so, again, you'd probably want to go early for the best position. Sunrise was less crowded than the sunset, but we think the sunrise view was better, and that is when the balloons would be out anyway. Balloons are an early morning activity. Hope that helps!

      Hi Shane,
      We didn't buy any ourselves on that trip, but we have asked our local photographer friends in Yangon and they say they only know of one place that sells film and does processing, which is this one:
      facebook.com/burmeseanalog/
      They also recommended this group of film photographers:
      facebook.com/groups/myanmarfilmphotos/
      They said some of the members also sell film.
      They didn't ask to mention, but do check out their page too. They have a gorgeous photography business in Yangon and are awesome people too:
      facebook.com/amournco/
      We hope that helps and you can now dust off your film camera! And feel free to ask us local advice anytime. ;)

      I don't know how long, but if your e bike out of battery call to the boss and they will change with a full battery ebike.
