Thank you for this. I was diagnosed with DPD a few years ago. And I never knew that sexual abuse in childhood could be a contributing factor but it makes so much sense to me.
I had a supervisor with DPD, she quit her job when people started to set boundaries with. She could have asked to be demoted, but choose to quit after 17 years, no retirement no new job, she couldn't handle the responsibly of the job requirement.
I am sure I have this or atleast most traits yet I'm diagnosed with bpd which I don't identify with, I just have a few traits of. My psychiatrist won't listen to me. I got the diagnosis from a former psychiatrist and the newer one just goes with the former ones diagnosis.
from my experience, go to 4 different psychiatrists n you will get 6 different conditions, psychiatry is a pseudo science, not based on fact, nor evidence, nor anything testable, just based on one persons opinion, which differs from the opinions of all the other psychiatrists you have seen. with personality disorders pills do very little to help. ive given up trying to get an acurate diagnosis from a psychiatrist. best thing to do is see a psycologist who will see you as a multi layered person, not just see you as whatever condition you have most recently been given.
@@mooncatandberyl5372 you're right 💯, I know from experience what a shower of wankas they are.. trouble is I'm suffering terribly from chronic anxiety/depression and have no support- everyone says just go to your doctor/psychiatrists and keep trying all the poisonous meds they want you to take. Even counsellors/ psychotherapists I try all say the same. I'd like to try kava but it's not sold here in Ireland and I wouldn't have a clue which is good to get shipped from the states. Cbd oil is another thing I would try but haven't a clue which is best and from what I've heard what is sold here in pharmacies is just useless and expensive.. do you use anything like these? Kratom is another I'd like to try but it's illegal here, it wouldn't get past customs
@@justinebourke9449 im from England, ive heard about CBD oil, but not tried it, anything sold over the counter will be low strength. Im on prescribed medication, but doesnt do much, if you can afford it, pay to see a psychologist.
@@mooncatandberyl5372 yea I'm trying to research the best cbd oil ( if any) to get and what's sold in the pharmacists is basically crap. It's headwrecking trying to find natural supplements that work, not to mention they cost a bomb..I've just ordered kava from the states and no idea if it will do anything.. I'm from Ireland by the way so, nice to talk to you neighbour 🙂
@@justinebourke9449hi neighbour, Ive not heard of Kava. Be careful ordering anything online, isnt always what it claims to be. IMO with most conditions in mental health, medication doesnt really change the way you feel, think, act n react, IMO one really needs a psychologist to help with that.

Good to learn of the effectiveness of CBT, it means less emphasis on genetic factors.
