    Great pieces…but this is the second RUclips channel that specializes in jewelry that doesn’t know the definition of “adorn.” The word doesn’t meant “to wear”…it means to make more beautiful…so saying that the Marchioness of Cholmondoley chose “to adorn it on two historic occasions” makes no sense. She wore it as an adornment. Or she was adorned with it….but she didn’t adorn it.

    A stunning collection of jewels. But I was distracted by the narrator's pronunciations. For instance CHALMONDELEY is pronounced CHUMLEY. The second R in Cartier isn't pronounced. He hesitated between words, showing he's reading the text and going on to the next line, i.e. King George the ... Sixth. Just saying. He is Scottish so should know. But it's a good job.

  • @joycestempa5647
    @joycestempa5647 9 месяцев назад

    Good photo examples but the narrator’s pronunciation is off on several occasions which makes the listener cringe when watching the video.
    For example, the name Arpels (as in, Van Cleef & Arpels) is pronounced as “el”, not “le” (it’s Arpels, like a jacket’s “lapel”, not like marbles, as in the games of “marbles”). You are pronouncing it “Arples”, not Arpels the way it should be.
    Also, it’s Tootie Frootie, like “Toot-ie Fruit-ie”. The double oo is a long vowel sound.
    If you’re going to narrate in English, please spend a second to get the correct pronunciation. It makes or breaks the whole thing.
    Thanks, much appreciated.

    I would subscribe to your channel if the narrator would not mispronounce every other word. These channels spring up on RUclips like weeds, but to have longevity, you need more depth and polish. Also you need to get the history behind these pieces right, for instance, princess Fawzia (not Faiza) was married to the Shah of Iran and this necklace was commissioned and gifted to her by him, it was not a direct commission by the princess herself.
