Great videos that capture the heart of this oasis of Peninsula cities. I grew up and lived in Burlibgane for 66 years on the same street. There is no place like it. Cost of living is a bit steep but worth it if you can afford the home prices. Very good schools and parks. Great variety if eateries (Copenhagen Bakery was my favorite). Attended Washington Elementary, Burlingame Intermediate and Burlingame High (GO PANTHERS!). Many thanks for the videos. Also, suggest a walk-through of Broadway.
Thank you, David! What a rich history you have in Burlingame. I agree, Copenhagen bakery is fantastic. Glad you’re enjoying the videos! And yes, a walk through Broadway is on my list to do.
Sounds like a terrific small city! I haven’t been yet even though I visit friends in Sat and Mill Balley often. I will check your city out in my next visit!! Fabulous video!! Thanks so much!!
Thank you Christine! We’d love for you to visit. Mill Valley is a fabulous place too and it is also known for its awesome small town feel like Burlingame.
So many people complaining about how expensive it is. That’s why it’s not for everybody and that’s why it’s also charming. People aren’t taking into fact that when you work in the area, you’re also making twice as much as anywhere else in the nation and certainly not taking into account that you’ve probably been part of a start up or two and have been fortunate enough to cash out on some IPOs, it’s just the way it works.
It certainly is a challenge here! Especially when we have important community members like some teachers, nurses, fire and police, and baristas, who cannot afford to live here. I wish that wasn’t the case. I know the City has made efforts for BMR housing for new construction but there hasn’t been enough.
Well, then it sounds like if you need affordable housing, there’s plenty of options outside of Burlingame. There’s really not much reason to move to Burlingame if you’re low income, except for the schools which are already overcrowded and underfunded.
And part of the problem is, if you can’t afford the housing, you’re probably not gonna be able to afford the taxes, you’re not gonna be able to afford the restaurants or the shops, and you’re not gonna be able to afford to keep up with your neighbors. Living in a city like Burlingame or Palo Alto or Atherton or Hillsborough, they’re beautiful and quaint because they are a little bit exclusive. I’d love to live in Beverly Hills, but I can’t and that’s that. they aren’t going to build affordable housing anytime soon and honestly with so many other options around it you don’t need to. You don’t move to Beverly Hills because it’s a safe place to live, you move there to show off your income and only reason affordable housing would move there so they could say they live in Beverly Hills.
Burlingame is lovely but far too expensive for the average family. And, California as a whole is no longer a nice place to live. We left 5 years ago with no regrets.
Kathleen I totally agree with you - it’s really hard for most people to afford to live around here. I think less than 1% of people in the Bay Area can afford the median home price, and in a spot like Burlingame it’s even more pricey. With so little land, and no height allowed like NYC, it’s not shocking to see why we have these numbers. Thanks for watching!
@@livinginsanmateocountyca BTW, my father and husband grew up in Burlingame. As a child, I spent a lot of time there. My paternal grandmother lived on Primrose Road.
I love that! What a rich local history you have here with your family. Come back and visit sometime - Burlingame Avenue has quite a few new amazing places to eat at 😀 Not only is there classic Copenhagen Bakery but also Backhaus, Caffe Central and Maison Alyzee
Extensive and fantastic portrayal of Burlingame! 👏👏👏
Thank you, glad you felt this was authentic!

Great video! Love the drone shots!
Thanks!! I was happy with how they turned out too.
Yeah Burlingame is low-key 🔥
Absolutely.
Nice
What about affordable housing? it seems like all other cities are building low cost units.

Well, not everybody has what it takes to make it. It’s hard to be a big fish and a big pond.
@@livinginsanmateocountyca yet nearly 8,000,000 people make it work. sounds like it’s your problem.
High property taxes! Yay
Yes they for sure are not cheap!
