Traffic can be terrible, especially if there is an accident. Weather is awesome. It’s moderate most of the time. Why do you have heat pump and AC? Heat pump operates as both furnace and AC. Weird.

I'd like to add that there's a plethora of diverse Asian cuisine and a high density of boba shops for those who love boba. Downtown has hosted a boba day and it was jam packed that day.

This video perfectly highlights everything that downtown San Mateo has to offer - so many great options for a night out!

18:18 Correction - Visa Headquarters has moved from Foster City to San Francisco's Mission Rock in Jun 2024.. Foster City still has its building and Visa said it would be redesigned, but it's no longer its headquarters.

Great video! On the neighborhood map, you label South West quadrant Belmont Woods. Where did that come from. Belmont Woods is a tiny 21 unit townhome development and one of 4 Neighborhoods that comprise Belmont Heights , the others being the largest, Hallmark, The Knolls and Belcrest Gardens in its own little enclave off Ralston. Also in the quadrant is the area SW of Ralston and The Alameda de las Pulgas, Carlmont. Isn’t there a better name for this quadrant? Thanks!

I built all those mc'mansions back in the 2000's. Such great areas but sub par builds. Your designers failed you w half ass contractors and short sighted builds.

There’s two other houses on Pepper that are probably worth 10 to 15,000,000. That old original “cottage.” And the one next to it that they moved on the lot and built that huge extension. Burlingame Hills also has a lot of more expensive homes.

So many people complaining about how expensive it is. That’s why it’s not for everybody and that’s why it’s also charming. People aren’t taking into fact that when you work in the area, you’re also making twice as much as anywhere else in the nation and certainly not taking into account that you’ve probably been part of a start up or two and have been fortunate enough to cash out on some IPOs, it’s just the way it works.

Reminds me of the good foot traffic in San Francisco.

I noticed he said Bridgepoint Shopping center is in Foster City but it's in San Mateo. Why no mention of Brlmont, Menlo Park, the most affordable East Palo Alto, and the must expensive zip code in the USA, Atherton. BART and train also available in San Bruno and South San Francisco not just Millbrae.

Here are some other points you missed. 🙂 1. Redwood Shores is flat and is great for kids biking. Can't do that in Belmont! 2. Because there is little retail here, traffic is significantly less than in Foster City 3. Low crime compared to other areas 4. It is super quiet at night, and you can sleep with open windows. It is called “Redwood SNORES” for a reason. 5. The power lines are buried here, which makes it better-looking than other neighborhoods. We also don’t get the power shut down when it is windy unlike the neighborhoods across 101. 6. The weather is amazing 7. Best neighborhood for families

I look at your vids on occason cuz I grew up on the Peninsula. I've lived in most every country in the SF Bay Area and lived in Berkeley the last 20 years before retiring some 9 years ago--in the Philippines. If you want to talk 'affordable', San Mateo County and a lot of Cali are barely so. Sad.

Jeezis. My parents lived in Burlingame from about 1957 through 1978 or so. Parents bought their Hillside Drive/Desoto corner home for $27,500. It was a great place to live back then--no doubt it still is. 1412 Montero...2112 Hillside Drive...2116 Hillside Drive...nowadays I'm 71 years old and retired overseas. I still have friends (roughly my age) who are still living there (at least in San Mateo) but in their parents' homes. A shame that things turned out as they have where my wife and I had to leave the Bay Area to afford to retire. Oh, well...old story, eh? I haven't been back to the States since 2015 and I figure I might never. Cheaper to travel from the Philippines to Thailand, Vietnam, and elsewhere. Cheers!! Great memory of my youth in that town!

Great video! I've lived on the peninsula my entire life, from Sunnyvale to San Mateo. San Mateo is where I've lived the longest and find it most convenient, especially because it is close to SFO, San Francisco, and has convenient access to the East Bay via the Bay Bridge and San Mateo Bridge. You can't go wrong wherever you end up on the peninsula!

The traffic reason is irrelevant IMO because every major city in the Bay has crazy traffic during commute times. The main reason people want to move to San Mateo is for the safety, school, nature, and environment FYI. To sum up this video, you can just say it's expensive but to get all those amenities, comes at a cost. The reality is, that you can either be one of those lucky ones who purchase one of the cheaper properties before SMC's bloom (the houses closer to the SM bridge), or you can be in tech to afford a property in 2024. East Bay is cheaper but you have more crime, bad schools, etc there.

my mom sold our home on Hillside Drive for around $650,000 in 1980 or so--she and my father bought the home in 1968 for $27,500. Boy--'starter homes' at $1-2 million. That's pretty crazy.

donut place when I lived there was a Flings Burger joint,.... lived in Burlingame from about 1955 through about 1977 and life was obviously different. Great town if you're earning a good salary--otherwise crazy expensive now. Nice to take a virtual tour of the place-- haven't been there in 20 years!
