    I didn’t even know I was a Country and Western fan until I saw this. Kept their clothes on, paid attention to their audience. Not one hateful or foul word, and what incredible voices.
    Plus a good time was had by all. Excellent formula. Talent today should be embarrassed.

    • @MostlyBrenda

      I try not to categorize the great ones. Brenda sang Rock, Pop and country. Glen played guitar on all kinds of records in the sixties from Sinatra to the Beach Boys. In fact, he _was_ a Beach Boy for one tour when Brian Wilson didn't want to tour. So, I really won't limit them to one genre, although I will admit that Dolly is mainly country.

      All that beautiful voice comes out of tiny ones. I’m so thankful colonel Tom Parker couldn’t get his hands on her. He put her in one movie. She said she didn’t like doing a movie. Thank goodness Owen Bradley had her firmly in his grip. Kept her from Colonel Tom.

    • @MostlyBrenda
      @MostlyBrenda  Год назад +1

      @@gracieg7601 Brenda was in a movie called "The Two Bears" in 1961. I think it was supposed to be a 3 picture deal, but Brenda thought it was bad and I guess she and her manager got out of the contract. Saw an interview in the 80's in which she said that she still had not watched the movie! Anyway, while she was friends with Elvis, her manager from 1957-1972 was Dub Albritten and Parker was never in the picture.

    *Dolly Parton Annoucement* : Dolly has announced that she doesn't plan to go back on the road and tour. There was a hint in her statement that she is worried about her husband's health and that being away from home and committing to a month of concert dates would not be wise. Dolly's last big tour was 2016. She did indicate that she would perform in individual events as they come up.

      It's most obvious during "Break It To Me Gently" when Brenda holds a note "I'll never LOOOVE again". Glen says "Yeah!" and Dolly "Whoa!" - around 3:02

    Two beautiful women ❤️ Brenda Lee was dirt poor growing up and lived in a house without indoor plumbing fixtures, her dad left the family and she was basically supporting the family.

    • @MostlyBrenda
      @MostlyBrenda  Год назад

      Her mother also worked long hours at the textile mill. In addition,she depended on family members to take care of Brenda and the two other children. So, I think her being the sole support of her family is sometimes overstated. Her first year on the radio, for instance, she didn't get paid at all!

      Glen, Roy Clark, Mel Tillis - So many have passed in recent years who were born in the thirties and forties. It's unavoidable, of course, but that generation, seemed to have an originality not seen today.

    R.I.P. Glen Campbell. Very few, if any, were great musicians and great singers. Before his own hit recordings, Glen played on dozens of hit records. Everything from Beach Boys to Herb Alpert. I wonder if there is a list of them. Anybody?

    • @MostlyBrenda
      @MostlyBrenda  7 лет назад +3

      Here's just a few of the records Glen played on:
      “Hello Mary Lou” by Ricky Nelson (1961)
      “Danke Schoen” by Wayne Newton (1963)
      “Surf City” by Jan and Dean (1963)
      “What’d I Say” by Elvis Presley (1963)
      “I Get Around” by the Beach Boys (1964)
      "Dang Me" by
      Roger Miller (1964)
      “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling” by the Righteous Brothers (1965)
      "Caroline, No" Beach Boys (1966)
      “Strangers in the Night” by Frank Sinatra (1966)
      “Mama Tried” by Merle Haggard (1968)
      “Turn Around Look at Me” by the Vogues (1968)
