So on the training ground they have to run until they drop, or their tendons, hammy's, muscles etc. are about to snap or fail to some degree, so they show the manager they are true to their word. So bang a match or three after being picked their body fails them, because it is on the limit. Is the injury career ending maybe !!. Can the players recover, maybe, or are they only 80, or 90 % of what they were or could have been. Then the confidence goes after a 6 month layoff, or the player thinks bugger that, my career is very short as it is, without starting a match when training has already taken my body to the limit. Talent doesn't grow on trees, and it goes without saying that particularly in the prem. fitness is one thing. but fitness, skill and a cool-head to make the right decisions when exhausted is another.
