My favorite sporran is my ' Big Boy' badger animal mask sporran. I've gotten many compliments on it. It goes with everything, day-wear or full evening dress (Bonny Prince Charlie). The only down side is the cost (very expensive: mine cost $350 in 2003).
I think the viking embossed sporran looks amazing. I don't have a kilt yet, but to me that would work with day wear and if I were to dress up a bit. I never attend formal tuxedo type events though.
My favorite sporran is the one I got at USA Kilts. It is a black leather "Hybrid-Day" sporran (Eric originally had one. I now have one). I'd like to get another "Hybrid-Day sporran in brown leather with black trim, similar to the one advertised on the USA Kilt website, The Brown and Black Embossed Day sporran.
I've always been a guy that takes a more utilitarian approach to wearing sporrans. My choice of sporran for day and evening (non -formal/semi-formal) is a very plain, brown military issue sporran.Granted it's a very simple one in appearance, but it seems to work well .
if it was my choice for ONLY ONE, i would choose a Stag & Trinity Knot Day Sporran with Red/Brown STAG fur on the bottom, and 5 raised leather 'leaves', like the Fur Hunting Sporran.
I just bought four sporrans six weeks ago . ( a day , two semi and a dress sporran . The day sporran has seal skin ( soon to be unobtainable from the EU ) with the others in bovine . One of the semi dress ( at least it is labeled as such ) sporrans has leather suspended tassels . It seems the line between day and semi dress sporrans is getting very blurred .
In my opinion Rocky, your sporran design really makes a statement. It has a very easy on the eyes look about it for evening and day wear.

my fav sporran for all occasions is my plain black rob roy. Very simple, plain but elegant. My humble opinion only.

Thank you so much for this amazing video it was just what I was thinking about and you all made wonderful points thank you
I’m in Nevada and wear a coyote sporran. It works the same as brown gillies. I may make a few for dress and daily wear.

Where can I find Erik’s “semi-dress, Sean sporran”?!?!???😁🥃
is it acceptable to mix 'heritage' designs? for example, can i mix a viking sporran with a stag buckle or other hardware accessory?
I prefer day sporrans for their practicality. And decent day spartan can be "pimped" with some silver work??
The question is can you have a seal skin sporran If it is say an antique, older than a certain age.
Are seal skin sporrans a responsible use of an endangered specie? I would wear a bovine hide in a sporran.
Heck around here some folks think utility style kilts are dressy. 🤣
Can you wear a sporran with a utilikilt?
I do! A simple black or brown day sporran looks pretty good
What tartan is that?
Left: Stewart Royal Weathered / Right: Glyndwr
Glyndwr? That is a name more commonly associated with North Wales and the Kingdom of Gwynedd
@@PATRICKSMITH1 It is a Welsh one, designed by the Welsh Tartan Centre: www.usakilts.com/gallery/12-oz-poly-viscose/glyndwr-universal/view
@@USAKiltsOfficial I like it! Am only an hour from the border here in Liverpool too!
