-- NOTE: Andy used a 1965 Gibson Tal Farlow guitar with a Peavey Special 130 Amplifier from the 1980's. A microphone was placed in front of the guitar to record the acoustic sound and was blended with the amplified sound in the final mix.
My compliments to the trio - what a wonderful performance! Andy Brown's roots in Kenny Burrell certainly show, but he has a sound all of his own. The bassist and drummer are wonderful also; I don't know their names - but whoever they are, they know how to lay it down. It isn't always easy coming up with a compelling sound in a trio setting, but the guys definitely manage it. Compliments also on some of the best sound - some of the best tone - I have heard on a jazz recording in quite sometime.
Just stumbled across this gig and never heard of this guy. He reminds me of Duke Robillard when Duke is playing jazz style. I can hear the Lenny Burrell influence. Great tone and sense of timing
Nicely played, gentlemen. And nicely recorded! Bravo, sirs!
3 minutes in... everyone is on point! everyone listening to each other. really nice! this is what happens when everyone has great time and is tasteful
This guy is such a great player, one of the tastiest contemporary players around at the moment IMO.
One of my favorite players. Criminally unsung.
