- How Expensive is Copenhagen, Denmark (Rent, Utilities, Food...and more)
In this video I am sharing the monthly expenses one has to bear in Copenhagen. Prices shared in Danish kroner (DKK).
Copenhagen is on top 10 list of the most expensive cities in the WORLD. This video will help you understand the major expenses when you live in this beautiful city.
Let's break down the major expenses!
Accommodation -
Rent is the major part of your monthly expense. Factors that determine the cost of rent are location, size of your place, and what type of accommodation are you going for.
www.boligportal.dk/en/ - This website will help you know more about rent!
Utilities -
Utilities refer to heating, water, gas, electricity, internet and a media licence fee and can start from 800DKK.
Groceries -
In my opinion, day-to-day grocery items are not expensive if you go for decent and cost-friendly supermarkets. My go to supermarket is REMA1000. A couple can easily spend around 3000DKK and a little more on montly grocery.
Transportation -
O MY GOD, if you are moving to Copenhagen, biking will save you a lot of money on transportation. This city is made for BIKING and everyone bikes.
The transportation system is divided into ZONES and you need at least two zones ticket to travel from one place to another. A two zone ticket will cost you 24DKK and a monthly pass of two zone will cost 410DKK.
You can find out more about prices at
dinoffentligetransport.dk/en/...
Other Expenses -
Then other expenses covers everything from phone bill to salon to fitness centre to even eating out.

Hi Kriti, I will be in Denmark during Winter for a short period, and your vlog is so helpful for moving. I've been to Denmark earlier for few weeks but this time will be bit long, I am food lover and would like to know more about groceries and vegetables cheaper in Copenhagen, I have seen your visit to Indian supermarket ispices but it was not clear to me. It will be fantastic if you do a vlog on groceries and vegetables.... Awaiting...
This was very useful information, thank you, Kriti 🍀😘
Thank you Lily :) Always a pleasure to receive your comments on my videos :)
I moved from the USA at 79 to Queretaro, Mexico on 11-2-2021, due to the deadly crimes and the expensive rents, utilities, food etc. I am on a pension, so I could not afford to stay n the USA, where I was born and raised. My pension goes farther here in Mexico. The city is safe, clean and beautiful.
Thanks Kriti, ur video are short and informative
Thank you so much 🙂
A rented room with a shared kitchen toilet and shower usually cost USD 100 per square meter. So a 10 square meter room is 1000 USD. Enjoy!

Hello Kriti, How can I get a school teachers job in Copenhagen? Will you please guide?
Hi Jyoti,
Thank you for your comment! That's a good question, never thought about it.
Are you already residing in Copenhagen or moving soon? International house keeps hosting events related to helping Internationals with job search.
Here are a few things I can suggest -
1)www.workindenmark.dk/ - this website will help you with getting started with job search in any field. I see some job postings for teacher jobs here.
2)LinkedIn will also great help. International Schools in Denmark have their LinkedIn profile and post Job.
3)international.kk.dk/work will also help.
It's a Great topic. I will try to cover in my future videos. :)
Is it really hard to find a job in Denmark even after completing a master's in Denmark?
Hi,
I have two interviews on my channel where I spoke with two Indian students who did Masters here and then found a Job. It will help know more in detail about the process.

Copenhagen = Financial vacuum cleaner...got it.
*You make it sound like that co-living only happens in Denmark. It's everywhere in the world where people share an apartment. It's nothing new. If you really want to paint a true picture of Denmark, probably you need to explore other countries around the world and see and experience what they have as well. Otherwise, you will think certain things only happen in Denmark and are only available in Denmark.*
its like watching video in 0.75x speed which is little annoying
I always watch videos on 2x and her video, even on 2x, doesn't feel fast.
Speedup to 1.5x
See by speeding up 1.5 to 2x.. Easy..😅
Pro tip:
See this video in 1.25X
Tnx
sister u r speaking v slow
Its already 5 years you being in Copenhagen and you have not invited me for once also. 😈
hheheheh :)
Hi Madam
You talk too much and too slow I had to use 2x speed and still the price was nowhere to be found, just say the price first and then info later, this will boost your channel and videos more.
Hi, if more than 50% of your salary get taxed then what do you save given the high cost if living. Can't we save money as much we can in US and Germany. How much will an unmarried person will be taxed if he earns 700k dk a year. Also how to minimise taxes.
Hi Kriti..I will be moving to Copenhagen in August..along with my husband and daughter..can I get your personal contact number so that I can connect with you?
