More fun things to do with pool noddles while learning hydroponics!! I use them in place of costly cloning collars. Today we are growing sweet potatoes, not for the sweet potato itself but for the leaves which are edible and delicious.

You can also dehydrate the leaves, grind them into powder, and add a scoop to smoothies, homemade ice cream, or even in soups or stews. It will really pump up the vitamin and mineral content of what ever you put it in!

    Great info tks
I'm going to grow my new slips in sea water diluted. I had a potato slip growing was about foot long in sea water great but I had people break in and damaged my food that I was growing along with my zucchini corn and peas.
I've watched people grow potatoes with aeroponics just spraying with nutrient rich water with good results.
Haven't eaten sweet potato slips with salad yet and look forward to my harvest. Your inspiration has motivated me thanx

My sweet potatoe vines were taking over my yard lol. The vines were enormous. I cut them.. I put them in the compost pile and now they're growing there lol.
I do eat them but I'm the only one in the house that does so there was just way too much for me and they grow so fast. I thought they would make good compost. Little did I know haha.

There are nutrients in the water. Use a dark container so algae won't grow. Indoors is ok but you probably know the sweet potato vine can get out of hand, lol.

@@KeepOnGrowin I wonder...Since you grow them to not produce tubers, do you even need a complete nutritional solution? like, have you experimented with using like a 5-5-5 vs 5-10-10 esk comparison? i wonder if you could get away with less fertilizer, since you are only growing leaves. Have you seen a lot of salt build up in the bottom of the tanks? or do you think the rain cuts it all out perfect lol?

Hey, Mike. I really like your videos. I'm super new to growing my own food. I'm curious about something. Your hydro method works well, so why are so many hydro systems set up with pipes, tubes, and electric pumps that need regular attention? Why doesn't everybody just use your method where they don't have to mess with anything for at least a month?
