Remember to keep moving constantly so that the minions can't encircle you and spam you to death with their AoEs. Mix up rolls and double jumps to the best of your ability while also dodging the Mage's attacks. Use the Fencer Sweep on them only if they're bunched up tight and hit as many of them as possible at the time, and engage in melee *only if they're spread out far.* It's usually the best call to grind at least most of the minions down before attacking Mage, but remember - if you take down all of the minions, another wave appears straight-up whereas if you leave one or two of them, another waves trigger based on the big boy's HP (so leaving a couple of them at a time is pretty much essential to not get constantly pummeled by VOM's. Loved this fight. Those final 30 seconds where he blasts his mujic everywhere in a last ditch effort to stop you from getting into the academy is one of my favorite moments in the game. The revelation that he only did it to protect his students from you makes it just that much better. The man literally burns himself to death with his own spells in an attempt to stop you, yet other characters in the game still see him as nothing but a stuck up, emotionless old man. Even after you win you can't help but feel super disgusting for pushing him to that point.
Interesting fact, Tuba archmage is Tuba Wizard's dad. If you spare Tuba wizard you can make him join your party. If you do, you get special dialog when fighting the Tuba archmage that basically hints at him being his father.
Hey yall. If your stuck in this boss remember to parry the spells of sound he throws at you! The constant note spam can be tough but enough timing can make you progress the bossfight easier.
This is one of my favorite bosses of the game not only because of the sick theme playing in the background but also because of the character i like how he is so mysterious and then when the battle begins and the bass hits he reveals he is a sick archmage (Sorry if bad english)
Talk to the king in Flutekeep after completing that one first Main Quest where you defeat Tuba Knight. He should gift you the Noise Defeaner. When equipped, you should take 50% less damage from his type of attacks (composer damage)
circling around the boss when he spams notes nonstop will help alot. also I recommend using the abyss melody instead of the dark flute. Since the abyss melody has higher speed, it will help way more than the usual dark flute. for accesories, the earlobe is good as it reduces damage by 40% but keep in mind that it also reduces attack damage by 20%. if you want, you can use high-pitched ring however it is very hard to get, it has a 0,1% chance to obtain from tuba screechers good luck

there's this funny little easter egg i found. when he spawns his little valve oil shits, kill all but one and he calls you clever for trying to cheese him, then he kills you in one shot, no matter what you do, you have to retry the fight
Most annoying part has got to be the mode he enters when he's half HP. He starts flying and spamming you with note magic. Lock-on mode really helps here, you can aim your ranged moves easier.
Has got to be one of the most rewarding bosses in the game. If you're a wizard type or focus primarily on spells, then his spell book is definitely worth the battle. And even if you're warrior or melee type, the book is still pretty op as it can boost your stats way up into the sky, practically carrying you through the rest of the game. A little tip is to focus on getting his defense low, he's pretty slow but strong, so focus on destroying his armour before anything else, as that will ease up the fight. Oh, and be sure to bring plenty of health potions if you're new to the game and are soloing it, like I said, he's pretty strong, being able to down you pretty quickly if you're not paying attention to your health.
The most annoying part is when he summons clones to shoot minitubas at you. The hard part is that the tuba archers instantly kill you. All you need is an anti tuba potion.
Yeah the Tubonic plague is a real pain to deal with. Although the reed charm relic is really good at stopping plague buildup because of the status duration down it gives, making the already short lasting debuff even shorter.
@Srindal4657 Can you do it yourself? I'm acquainted with someone else who's fond of lightbulb jokes, also. Perhaps you know him. @RepDanCrenshaw @unitednations
(spoiler warning): its really wierd how different he is from his brother king tuba ii. king tuba is always described by the brass deserters as really stuck up and also really demeaning to his subjects. But if you take the tuba academy side quest not only does he act very calm and caring towards his students but when he thinks you're going to hurt them and the boss fight starts he just attacks you, no dialog or prefight speech he just realizes a potential threat to them and immediately moves to eliminate it. in terms of a strategy to beat him id say get as many movement and dodging items as you can, his spells pierce non magical armor and hit like semitrucks so dodging is probably your best option. but given that this is probably the third most difficult fight in the game behind legendary tuba knight and the tuba titan, id say that the best option is to just not take the side quest and avoid fighting him altogether.
this is done specifically so that it works in loop (between the ending and beginning of this video). i needed it looped a very certain way and never expected other people to actually end up here :P
How do I counter that double sweep attack cause when I jump to dodge the first sweep the second comes out before I can touch the floor and I get low hp
I recommend using what seems like one of the worst items in the game, the oboe of wind While it's stats are awful it gives you a dash ability that is really helpful for dodging those, but you'll need to rely mostly on spells and defense debuffs if you do so, I do remember seeing a playthrough somewhere where this guy uses the viola of thunder and abusing the few invincibility frames it's third special gives but it requires very specific timing and I've never been able to replicate it
@@TraciWest-MYBODYMYMINDMYLIFE Its those turned-based games where you olay as Mario and Luigi. A couple of notable titles are Superstar Saga and Bowser's Inside Story.

the voice-acting/voice design is sick, too
