I did EGR valve in my Patrol CRD. Lost the butterfly so trying to find it. Blowing really bad smoke. Ended up changing injectors first and that improved things but was still smoking. With the butterfly missing ECU for perfect signals back but was over fueling. Even though these are Toyota centric videos still very applicable to a Nissan CRD. I've learnt heaps from this channel and combined it with information from the workshop manual. The best test I did was a compression test as that told me all was well with the block. Thanks Anthony. Gonna have to drop a carton off to you once I'm back on the road.
Looks like having a 1KD without the DPF and EGR stuff is like pure gold. Almost 50,000KMs on my 6 year old 2016 reg. Hilux. Gonna keep it forever if i can lol
Our 2009 120 prado got to 420k on original injectors. Car was still running fine when I sold it at 420k. Absolutely astonishing considering Toyota advises to change every 150k. Going by their schedule I should almost be coming up for my third set of injectors.
Coming from a Lemon Ranger (I think mine-site abused), I now have a Renault Master van, I'll never go back. 170,000 Km and the exhaust is super clean. A different kind of animal. It's due for a clutch change, Injectors seem fine at this time.
Very comprehensive Anthony. My 2014 1KD is at 175000ks and I've been putting off replacing the injectors but it's now moved to the front of my jobs list. Your rambling is fine mate 😄
Hi Just like to know what if any big problem with a 1kz-te 2003 and or what recommend to be done with one with 450000 km As I'm looking at one to buy. Also similar on an LN106 SR5 1991and has around 305000km as I am also looking at . Regards Kraig PS keep up the video's I find them fun , interesting and informative
My 1kzte 95 series prado, I had a weird fuel issues so replaced the fuel filter, issues started if i left it a few days, it would take a lot to start. Found a cracked pipe after the air filter, Replaced it. Last thing I checked was my fuel cap it looked severely worn on it. Decided to replace it. Fixed that sucker straight up. Haha 😄
I was fixing a problem with a stuck egr valve on my 2007 Lr Defender (62,000km). Also cleaning the intake manifold and cylinder head as good as practicable. I thought maybe a good idea to have also the injectors tested. They failed a full load test. Therefore I replaced them with new Denso injectors. The old still look visually in quite good nick. Would it be worth just to replace the injector fuel filter of the old ones and have them checked again to see if this makes a difference to achieve more flow and to keep them as emergency spares, or this a waste of time and money?
Yeah okay I feel like my Prado it must just be the egr clearing out, because it only blows black smoke the first time you floor it, if you haven’t put the foot down for a while. It’s always been rattly though 🤔
Hi mate my 1ks had injectors down about 100k did the smoke test and got nothing out the pipe. But one thing I have noticed is fuel consumption has gone down hill the past 15k or so. Would you say injectors ? Or no smoke no injectors?
My opinion is the 4jj1 and the 1kd are the 2 best common rails I wouldn't go near any other common rail. I'm a pre common rail nissan man but I have to admit the fte is probably the best engine ever
Hey mate. Whats your opinion on getting a mild tune on a 1kdj 150 prado for towing a 2 t camper trailer. I do not want to increase the chance of a cracked piston whatsoever. Its purely a tune for a towing setup not to increase performance.
When I start my hilux in the morning and warming it up for2 minutes...after that leaving on my way to work...I always see just a little bit blue smoke just for 10 seconds...is it normal?

Did you get them changed and it is much better. My 2012 1KD is just about to hit 175,000kms too and she is getting rattly.

I put a cleaner through after it was smoking like a cigarette. It hasn't had any smoke since. Thoughts on injector cleaners through your fuel system?
First! Awesome vid anthony keep it up!
changed fuel filter, but what about the small filter in the diesel pump ?
Thanks for sharing mate😊
Iove your banter 🙏

Where are you spraying the cleaner on the 1kd mate. In through the air box pipe or after the intercooler somewhere?

Have there been any reports yet regarding cracked piston issues since the new 2020 onward Prados received the new design injectors fitted ?
2020 prado have the 1gd, they dont have piston issues

All sorts of diesels out there...... but made in UK Honda Civic has to be one of the more rare and unexpected ones to run into.
