This was my first Lucia and it remains a favorite. Bergonzi is a fiery Edgardo and Moffo has unmatched pathos as Lucia. A great recording.
Moffo was perfect for Lucia and for Violetta in Traviata. She had so many nuances in her voice.
i love the fact you can hear someone draw their sword from its scabbard (listen closely to the point a few bars after the sextet ends), even though this was a studio recording rather than a fully staged performance. Now THAT's attention to detail!
What a recording and what a cast! Moffo at her best, and then the shear joy of Bergonzi.. This is my favorite Lucia. The engineers got it absolutely right; I feel that I was in the audience! Thanks
This is my absolute favorite recording of the opera "Lucia" -- every singer is letter-perfect throughout (the first act duet between Bergonzi and Moffo is simply magnificent!) and the reproduction is spectacular. The best of the RCA Italiana discs, to be sure.
Beautiful cast!!! Music from heaven.
Best version/recording, by far.
Beautiful recording with top cast: all is swinging as it should...!
MARVELOUS simply MARVELOUS, thanks for posting a virtually perfect recording, featuring Moffo taking some extra & welcome artistic license! ANDY
I love Anna Moffo so much!
although i have fond memories of the old classic gigli,galli-curci,version, thisis a very worthy sub. Shame that Moffo's career was relitavely breif. Bergonz,i great.
bergonzi,bergonzi, bergonzi..perfection
I bought this cd randomly as I wanted to hear an opera. I still have it, goes in all my cars, and I’ve had a good few, bit worn and scratched and still plays.
This has led me onto my addiction for this opera having heard it so many times, I’ve seen it at the ROH, ENO and Met, never tire of it.
What a perfect version of this song. Gorgeous; thank you for posting!
meraviglioso
Wonderful 👏
Million thanks for this wonderful post! We expect more!
I have the 1970-1971 version of Lucia (with Sutherland, Pavarotti, Milnes, Ghiaurov and Bonynge conducting) which is really very good but I think this cut from Moffo et. al. is even better which is really saying something. Is it still available on CD for purchase anywhere? It would be great to have more of it here on YT. Moffo is a spectacular Lucia. Bergonzi is great but I think I prefer Pavarotti's portrayal on disc just slightly better. However, it is splitting hairs. We are so fortunate to have had these artists for as long as we did. Than you for posting it.
Difficult ari in original key for the tenor! Bergonzi simply the best of ever@
bergonzi was really special .vocal purity unadulterated and authentique me thinks !
Same here.
orrida è questa notte Bergonzi Sereni
The Flintstones ("The Split Personality") brought me here.
@latraviata1853 do post everything you've got on this. Great singing and great conducting.
What about adding The Wolf’s crag scene, please.
The Departed brought me here.
