She was french canadian so that's why he sings some french in it.

The song ain't about his mother it's about him when he nearly died because of his drug addiction he also said that song could have also benn on spanish japanese german or French he said it in an interview about Youthanasia

@@thammar1990 Just got into Megadeth, but this plainly sounds like an individual song about himself about wanting to live, but death is evident. Not directed to anyone, nor suicide, am not sure but this is what I've interpreted.

When my mom died about 2 days later I had a surreal dream where I was talking to her.
She was younger, in her 20's, looked happy which was a real because she died of cancer.
In the dream she asked me not to be sad, she left her body behind but she's ok, just in a different place, she didn't want us to grieve for her.
About 10 years later I heard this song, that dream I had of her is exactly what he's talking about.
I believe it’s about someone on their death bed and accepting their death.

Dave collabed with Cristina Scabbia of "Lacuna Coil" for a version of this. A lot of people poo-pooed it when it came out, but I really dig it...I don't think ya'll will be disappointed with it.
I lost my brother, my wife, and my 4 best friends in a 6 month period, I thought I could get through it, then my only child was diagnosed w/ stage 4 cancer. I was gonna kill my self. Megadeth helped me

Great Show in Sofia, The Big Four...!!!
This song was originally off of the 1994 album "Youthanasia" but then was re-recorded with the chick from Lacuna Coil on backing vocals on the 2007 album "United Abominations." Both versions are good, but I personally prefer the re-recorded one because the female backing vocals just add something extra to the song that now seems missing from the original. Plus the fact that the music itself is a little more crunchier in the new version.

The Megadeth's performance is in Sofia, National stadium „Vasil Levski“ whose capacity in nowadays is 44 000. This is the biggest football stadium in Bulgaria, where the bulgarian football nationals play their official matches. Also the Bulgarian football cup final plays here.
