Thanks you for sharing. I so agree.. Keeping flock in house is a pain.. For us here, not only can we not pass on the egg sales in the winter but our pasture couldn't stand the impact in the wet months...

depending on the year, we are 4-5 months the pasture can't carry poultry.

Check out the Johnson-Su method of composting. You could easily modify those bins to be closer to the Johnson Su with some drainage pipes dropped in going vertically. It’s a static method of composting that seems to guarantee a fugally dominant mix at the end of the process.

Hey mate, in reguards to turning over your woodchip in the polly tunnel something like the ego multitool CULTIVATOR attachment might be worth looking at or if you want a bit of extra grunt honda make a petrol powerd unit called the versatool that as the same type of attachment.

I think it would defo do the job, I’m just not at a scale that would justify the expense right now.

You'll have to get your customers to freeze eggs in summer! Its simple enough😁 They surely don't want to be involved in animal cruelty either.

@@heatherhillfarm1303 my few hens live outside all year. They still laid eggs through winter last year. They're old now so have stopped laying. Need to get a few more for eggs. Think I'll try Rhode Island Reds instead of hybrids. Just hope they'll all get on together 🙂
