Hey this is my suggestion :D I'm a huge Star Citizen fan, backed the project since December 2014, and I'm really really happy that Marco also likes the music Pedro presents to us in Star Citizen! Thank you Marco for bringing us this video, and thank you Pedro for bringing us so many gorgeous pieces of Star Citizen music :D

Star Citizen has a wonderful soundtrack composed mostly by Pedro Camacho, who is a true master in his field.
By now you're used to guessing a character's personality from their theme, or a boss's looks and feels from their battle music; now it would be extremely fun if you could listen to the musical themes composed for Star Citizen's main planets and cities and guess what they look like or say how you feel from that music, and then watch some in-game footage of those places and see if you were right! xD
This game is really stunning, both in terms of the visuals and the immersion you can get from listening to this amazing soundtrack :D

Did you know there is a epic version of "First Light", way longer? Like "Main Theme" it functions as a intro. Other songs create a soundscape for an event like waking up like "My Home, "My Residence is in the Stars". Other songs are made to emphasize the environment like pristine surface of "Moon", the hot sand moon Daymar "Ancient", the industrial Lorville "Beyond the Gates", the barren cold location of microTech "microTech", a high technological place like New-Babbage "The Commons", or the perfect-city feel of Orison "A Crusader in Heaven". Then there are other songs that capture the events like a raid "Bunker", being in a prison "Klesher", the idea of age-old family bloodlines of the Hurston family "Lineage", of the idealistic "Creating a Better World". There is a huge variation of songs to check out of different kinds of styles in Star Citizen from different composers.

I wasn't expecting you to review Star Citizen's music after having watched you review Genshin's music as well. Star Citizen is another game I regularly play besides Genshin and there's absolutely nothing that's like it. The scope and the absolute size of the game is truly unique and worth a try (for anyone who doesn't mind 30 fps on a top-end pc at least lol).

And this soundtrack plays when you open the LAUNCHER ! You are given an awesome soundtrack even before the game starts !
StarCitizen has some amazing sound design. When you play and go through space, you have cinema quality sounds and effects playing, you really feel inside a sci-fi universe. I am waiting for more content and some major bug/server fixes before I officialy jump into the game, meanwhile I participate in every free-fly events to get a chance to go back into the 'verse and test out new ships! SC is absolutely on my radar for future game releases !

Glad to see my recommendation had gone through. Your description and feelings towards this song is quite spot on. Star Citizen is definitely one of those games where you dont mute the bgm. One thing that is quickly lost here is that in the game they actually blend several songs together depending on what is going on. You can be peacefully flying your ship with a soothing spacey song but as you arrive at a location the music seamlessly changes to another one, the combat music also varies depending on the intensity so being in heavy combat you would be hearing a powerful song that instills the sense of danger. As you say the possibilities are nearly endless.

  • @StephenBlane
    @StephenBlane Год назад +5

Star Citizen does really well using the music to emphasize where you are and what to feel. The most notable for me would be the Lorville theme, Lorville is a city on a planet owned by a weapons manufacturer called "Hurston Dynamics" it's a company that is built on forced labour, a city that is dirty, has cameras and armed security at every corner, while the Huston family live in a massive tower that looms over the city and can be seen from orbit. When you approach the city the music begins, and it starts making you feel uneasy as you approach, daunting as the massive tower comes through the clouds.
I'm not great at explaining the music, but I do recommend everyone to give it a listen! Pedro Camacho does an excellent job and all his songs are awesome!

Pedro Camacho is very good at using sound to place you in the moment and context, like John Murphy on Welcome to Lunar Industries or Hans Zimmer in He's A Pirate, the way he evokes the rolling waves and crashing ships bow with drums and cymbals. You mention the opening synth base in First Light, if you had listened to the music with the visuals you would have understood immediately he is evoking the sound and feel of the massive throbbing capital ships engines. The huge spaceship on the screen while this music is playing belongs to the UEE Navy whose motto is 'United in purpose'. The video released which this music was made for was called 'Big Guns Of The UEE'. if you watch that video you'll see why the music builds, because the more you see the more and more massively wondrous you realise this thing is. There is a man just outside the ship in space EVA to show the massive scale of the space ship that you will be living in, and moving around inside.
Pedro uses instruments as onomatopoeia / Foley artistic impression. Compare this to John Williams Star Wars Main Theme where even though there are massive star destroyers on screen the music is about militaristic majesty, you feel the massed Roman legion-like stormtroopers in formation, not the huge ship engines and clattering of boots on the metal gangways inside the ship. That huge ship has no 'presence' in the music, whereas in Big Guns of the UEE the massive throbbing engines are always there..
The most common compliment offered to Pedro by followers of Star Citizen is how well he evokes the feelings of the different places and sheer amazement of the vastness in the game, you can see from his music, he feels like he is really there experiencing the place or the object of amazement. This is one of the most impressive things about him, he has mastered a massive vocabulary of instruments. John Williams might have been able to write a Star Citizen Main Theme, it's very unlikely he would write a 'SynthQuest Blue'.
Cloud Imperium are making two games set in the same game universe of Star Citizen, the single-player game is called Squadron 42 - the main composer for Squadron 42 is someone who worked with Hans Zimmer on the Pirates of the Carribean movies - Geoff Zanelli. There is more wonderful music in the Star Citizen game and it definitely is better appreciated in context. Welcome to the Verse!

I love this track. It makes me think of the majestic planetary dance, so much larger than yourself, seeing a moon elegantly raise, reflecting the sunlight brightly onto your planet's dark night side. Or even, you're on the moon yourself - watching the big planet raise over the horizon. Just there, happening, in all its beauty, uncaring whether or not tiny you are watching it unfold.
I have so many incredibly beautiful screenshots of that exact scenery happening to me ingame. This song makes me feel so tiny in face of the grand scheme, creating a strong longing to explore, to not worry about anything, be free and chase that sunset, it makes me feel Fernweh (there's a nice German word for ya).
And that's what I do between all the bounty hunting and ship racing. I just... chase sunsets and sit on one of the many mountains of an ice moon, watching as the sun sets in front of me, the moon's ice ring stretching wide across the sky, beginning to cast the moon's shadow over it, the big gas giant over the horizon still reflecting the sunlight with the warm, orange hue it imprints it with. It's... simply magical. And that's why, despite all the technical issues it has, I simply can't stay away from SC for too long.

If you want to do another reaction to SC and in particular it's music, you could watch the new StarEngine Trailer. It is a trailer showing of SCs tech but completely scored by the same composer as well (about 3 tracks in one massive video) and because it shows of visual there are very few other sound effects over the music (though they do use some in specific scenarios)

at 2:43 it seems he contemplates pausing to say a few words, then the music alters it's course and also turns your hand away. There are a few subtle eye brow raises with the song and to be blunt I know that feeling all too well.
To be honest I think you'd fall in love with a lot of what has been made for the game so far and we still have much more to look forward to from Pedro. Also I would dare even say you could reach out for a short 1 on 1 with him as he is (from all I've ever seen) very approachable and kind hearted, I'm sure he'd love to talk about his hard work that's been put into things so far.
Otherwise fantastic choice to listen to of all we have so far and look forward to hear more from you.
Finally if you did not know the company is making Star Citizen which is the 'Online Game' but they are also making Squadron 42 which is meant to be a Single player game and as a result they actually hired a separate composer for the game music over there in order to capture a different feeling in game and might be worth a listen if you're interested.

Day 19 of kindly asking for riven of 1000 voices

People are really excited for this game, and it’s interesting because people either have no idea what it is at all or they’re ultra-passionate fans. There’s no middle ground. That’s the very definition of a cult following. (According to the interview) A cult following is not the same as a cult. Just saying. Thats the exact post by Mark hamill.
