The Elaho Valley-The Definition Of Scorched Earth

June 2015 a suspected lightning strike (or human) caused a fire that grew to more or less incinerate the entire valley from mountain top to bottom and back, up the other side. Around 7 square kilometres in total was burnt, including much of our beloved old growth forest. This included the “Elaho Giant” one of the oldest and largest Douglas fir trees in British Columbia at an estimated 1,000 years old.
