- Nothing defines a player more than the quality of their sound, the timbre they create on their instrument. Sarah Hanahan has a big sound. Here she explains how she developed her whole range of tones. She puts into perspective beautiful louds and beautiful softs. Plus a tip from runners about endurance and the mindset of pushing through the desire to give up.
While still in her mid-20’s, Sarah Hanahan has emerged as a special talent of the saxophone. She’s a bandleader, composer, and much sought-after bandmate. She holds a Masters's Degree from The Juilliard School, and gigs in New York frequently.

Nice! Totally agree! Developing a solid sound is number one!
You know about it, dash.

Never stops. Keep going, pal.
Nice! Cannonball has my favorite alto sound. Also, among the list you shared, Lee Konitz, Paul Desmond, Sonny Stitt (before & after his switch to tenor), etc. 🎷
