Although I've already been where you are I still can't help but watch. My cervini rear bumper got absolutely destroyed taking the car off the trailer when I bought it. For the money of a new one don't think for a minute I didn't repair it! Came out beautiful!
The best damn foxbody build period! You are killing it brother, the ultimate machine. And yes please keep the information about the paint and body prep etc. Love the content on your channel!👈🔥💯
Great video, iam getting close to installing my rear cobra bump cover and ground effects.thanks for the tips and tricks. look forward to more bad ass foxbody videos!
Glad you mentioned about the paint, I have been researching around and can’t decide where or what to buy. Want to do it myself, never painted before. I took notes on your compressor and gun setup, good information 👍🏼
Right on.. ok did you get your compressor set up yet? For a good warm up lets get you going by spraying the wheel wells in a single stage urethane satin black.. its good prep work and can come out really nice.. if it dosent no biggie cause it really wont be seen.. have you been to your local body shop supply yet?
@@TonyDFreestyle96 Thanks that’s a good idea. I’m about to purchase a dryer/filter setup for the compressor and get it all setup. I just finished up body work on the engine bay and have it primed with the Eastwood 2k primer, it came out pretty nice so far. I did stop in a local paint supply but they were pricks, gonna keep looking. Appreciate the help
@@lancelewandowski2667 lol... yeah they are usually pricks.. especially when you are starting out.. I will say the eastwood line is a good place to start so your on the right track.. dont go crazy with your setup. A basic dryer and gun is all you need to get going for now. Try to paint some smaller items first.. maybe the mirrors, trim pieces etc.. this way you can work on your technique and timing between coats..
The attention to detail on your car is off the charts. Can you do a quick video on your denibbing process? I have a few spots on mine that I need to clean up. Awesome work so far!
MAN! I love how you put those pop rivets and nut inserts for the bumper install! I struggled so much trying to keep that brace in place and on top of that, 3 years later, my bumper is sagging. That brace isn’t doing much for my bumper. I’m gonna have to remove it and “update “ the installation with your smart techniques! Also, that updated lower bumper bracket from cervini is sweet! I unfortunately have the cheap L brackets. Which look tacky and was super disappointed when I saw those after I had spent $500 on the damn bumper. Thanks for the videos! Loving the car!
Right on brother! Thank you! Try giving Cervinis a call to see what they can do about getting you the new bracket.. they know the olds ones are a problem and im sure they will do the right thing for you.. lemme know how it goes!
Tony you do outstanding work! I’ve never seen a dry guide coat block before, where can I get one? I’ve painted 2 cars a while back, Cracker lacquer! One came out really well, while the other was kind of thin. It has been many years ago and products are not the same. I’m going to do my fox body in my garage just got started on it. Will be watching your work intensely. I would like some advice on some paint that is garage friendly and midpriced. Keep up the great videos brother! Thanks for the great content!✌️
Your local body shop supply should have it if not any online supplier will get it shipped to you.. it works ok. Its a little messy.. I still prefer the spray tho... good luck with yours!
Hey Tony, Diggin on the channel brother. Thanks for that moment of silence... Respect for our fallen shows your class... Hey I'm working out this trade to get an '86 SVO for my '69 F100. It will be my second Fox. I'm 53. My first car was a '79 Ghia notch: thing had negative nads! But I was lower-middle class, 19 & happy to have a 'stang 😅 Anyway, I'm kinda wanting to do an old school build. Got a fresh 302, e303 cam, a '60's Edelbrock "Twister" high-rise intake, Holley 650, World Class T5, 3:73 rear Going with Niché Misano matte gunmetal wheels (which aren't very dark, not into black) 19x9.5''s out back, 18x8's up front with the Michelin Pilot Sport 4's. I did a ton of research on this setup to make sure it will work. I'll leave a link to my cart at Summit if anybody else wants to go this route... I'm wanting to paint her a decently dark gunmetal with a heavy silver and bronze mixed flake. Question: Have you ever heard of any painters spraying their color and THEN putting their flake in the first couple of passes on the clear? (and mad respect on your paint, car is going to be a stunner) because see, I have this theory that when the flake is added in with the color: it gets lost IN the color. Does anyone get what I'm saying or have any of you tried this? Btw, I know I'm going to get some purist haters on the molestation of the SVO, but it was cherry picked already before I got to her, so whatever. Last question: Do you believe that SVO K member will support the sbf? If not could you recommend a somewhat economical swop? Thanks for any response & God bless Link: www.summitracing.com/cart P.S. - Anybody know any good painters in the Midwest/Kentucky region? (I don't have the time for doing the paint)
Hey Brother, thanks for reaching out. It definitely makes me happy that you felt that short moment with me. Had I known all this was gonna happen I'd be restoring a fkeet of F-16's and went out with a few friends to take care of a few things but thats a whole different topic. Thank you for your support on that one... Ok so as far as mixing flake into clear.. Yes you can do it and Ive done it on many motorcycle paint jobs in the past.. can you do it on your car. Yes.. do I recommend it. Absolutely not.. heres why and a better solution... If you ever need to make a repair, i dont want you to have to repaint the whole car to fix a scratch... instead of clearcoat what you will use is binder. All it is, its basecoat without any toners.. you would definatly make sure you weigh it out on a scale, add your desired amount of dry flake and definatly write that down somewhere for future reference. Definatly mix enough to do the whole job at one time while the car is compleatly together.. and mix it all in 1 container together! doing it this way will ensure nice even coats and no zebra striping... you will hit it with 2 coats of clear after.. after about 24 hours block wet sand with 600 and reclear it with 3 nice coats.. then wetsand and polish after that dries.. it will come out amazing! As far as your k member for the svo I believe its exactly the same as a regular fox however call the guys at UPR in Lake Worth Fl.. they will be able to tell you exactly of it will work... Let me know how it all works out for you!
