It has been quite telling already, how Israel has systematically attacked and delegitimized U.N. institutions in general. Now also instead of focusing on reacting to the arguments brought forth by South Africa, ahead of the trial, they chose to attack South Africa directly and delegitmize the hearing and cour as a whole.
Irrespective of the situation in Palestine israel has shown itself to be an enemy of the international order represented by the U.N. despite profiting from the US veto power.
It will not be the final test, if emergency measures are demanded by the court, if the US will adhere to it or not. If they do, Israel will be forced to stop the killing and destruction in Gaza. If they don't the U.N. and international order through diplomacy and shared rules might as well be abolished. Without governments willing to adhere to and enforce international order, the agreements are nothing more than words on paper.
I am really proud of South Africa and being European I feel so ashamed of my own country.
