Hello I totally agree with those things Working in a bar in korea for about a year those awkward situations happen a lot like comparing beauty or who can drink more/drinks best I learned to get used to most of those situations But the ones that invade my privacy like touching are still difficult and i might never get used to it Or even being one of the youngest workers i am their "maknae"like they like to call me to joke around anyway so my coworkers will ask me a lot to do something like go buy them cigarettes or get that knife from the kitchen etc at 1st i was like wait i dont smoke....why would i go 0.o, or you are standing next to the kitchen door...~.~ Luckily i am not the only foreign worker so if we are buy or selves we will just do rock paper Scissors 가위 바위 보 And group is important so they grew to like a family , and are still caring The group is important like ,and when you give they will usually give back as much if not more And i am grateful that i had such a nice working environment for my 1st year in korea (Ps when you work in korea you kind of need to show you are dedicated or atleast are grateful for the job you have si you are expected to work hard and give your all ) Thank if you read this little long testimony until the end And thanks Megan Bowen you are a big inspiration
I haven't seen Chonunmigooksaram in so long! It's cool to see her still out and rocking it, she was one of the people that inspired me to learn Korean.
Can you make a video about if Koreans are open to other cultures? Since they have their own beauty standards I wonder what they think about foreigners..I’m a little curious about that, I wanna hear your thoughts coming from a foreigner yourself that has lived in Korea for several years now
I remember one of my friends once went up to a group of guys and asked which one of us they'd rather date/think is more attractive. Most said I was, which mortified me, mostly because I didn't want her to ask at all. She never let it go, and was always kind of grumpy at me as if it was my fault. So awkward
COSMIC DREAMII right...dont be surprised if that person ends up getting plastic surgery or committing suicide. it happened to me over here where said "friend categorized us and grouped me in the ugly group...that really hurt and has never gone away...its ok if I feel ugly about myself but when u hear it from people u trusted it hurts bad. same when it comes from family

I kept zoning out of the video and kept having to replay certain parts cause you look so stunningly beautiful I stop paying attention to what you're saying and kept having to rewind. But yh, YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL!
megan you should have another vid with koreans and discuss things they misunderstand about foreigners and give them answers and you share questions with them foreigners have and have them give their own answers to it. You teach us so much , i think it would be cool to see the perspective straight from them
I remember you talking about how you weren't fluent when you made that speech at your old apartment in one of your older videos! Foreigners are the poster children for business startups lmaooo
Love your channel! I think it is awesome that you not only speak another language fluently, but you also live there long term! A lot of Americans have a bad reputation, I think, for not knowing any languages but English. I took some Spanish in college (yay, I can read a menu, lol), but I've recently been trying to learn Korean. Learning Hangul stretches my brain :). Learning a completely different alphabet is really broadening my horizons (and hopefully staving off dementia, and stuff.) Anyway, love your insights! Keep it up :)
That's true :/ my grandfather has been living in Sweden for like 30 years and never learned swedish just the basics.. i'm always like ???? how? I learned english by myself and i don't even live in a country that speaks english lmao
Dani Q maybe because your grandfather didn’t find it necessary, after all they understand and speak English pretty well in Sweden. Unless your grandfather doesn’t speak English...then I don’t know how either 😂
Megan your vids are like. Somehow Therapeutic to me. Even though I can’t really use this info I find it so comforting just listening to you talk. Lmfao. I fr need a friend like you
The first thing happened to me. I was in Itaewon and a group of guys (I think there were 5 or so) asked who of them was more handsome. I just randomly pick one who was in the middle (looked kind of cute to me) and all the other guys were shocked lol I guess he wasn't the one considered attractive in the group, so I didn't regret my answer ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Another awesome video Megan, really like your insight into Korean culture. I was wondering if you could do a video about words that exist in Korean but don’t have a direct translation in English, not sure if you have done one before. It’s always interesting when languages have words that seem to be suited to that culture and they just don’t exist in other languages.
that first one is toooooooooo real, the last time it happened when I was out in Incheon with my friends we got like adopted by a group of Korean guys who were super friendly, sharing soju with us, we were all just chatting and having a good time then they were like "each of you pick the three most handsome guys" so all of us had to (it was lowkey funny though because we picked different since we all have different taste/preferences.) but yah, it's pretty common, it's happened to me or my friends at least 4-5 times here.
U talked about taking Korean classes and I would really be interested in a culture based video. Like movies that influenced Korea, history based things like language development and all that nice stuff.
Ooooh I want to know more about the business start up programs!! (5:35) How intriguing! Another great video, Megan. I'm so thankful you are sharing all these topics on RUclips and I hope that you have great health and happiness. ^_^
HAHA THE STARE!!!! That happened to me on the subway in seoul last week when i was visiting my friend! There was a college/high school guy and he was just staring.....for a full 10 minutes haha my friend and i felt soooo awkward!! hahahahaha
Megan, if you’re reading this, you are amazing! You are so funny and your videos are the best like this but you’re just sitting there talking and I’m so entertained. Anyways I admire so much how you just moved to another country all by yourself and you are really putting yourself out there. You have a lot of dedication.
Megan....I have loved your channel since your "Teacher Teacher " days😊 but anyhow I really want to thank you for introducing Eunice to us in your past video. She is so absolutely amazing and a full of life person and makes you feel such a part of her heart. So thank you so so much she reminds me of a traditional Hatian family. Anyhow lots of appreciation to....wowww you just mentioned Eunice I always watch and type at the same time..lolz 😊❤ Thank you again always.
That second thing doesn't make sense at all!!!!!!!!!! I think they're surprised because, as you said, that is not that much foreign in Korea that speaking Korea, and also, is a difficult language. so...is not because you live in the country that you're going to be fluent in that language. I lived in the USA for one year to learn English and of courseeee, I' m not fluent, if you' re fluent in some language is because you' ve studied very hard, doesn't matter if you live or not in the country.
Oh my gosh, I appreciate this video so much! Haha. I can totally relate to all the things you said, but especially the impromptu speech thing and always being the one picked to do stuff because you’re the foreigner. It is so stressful to me! I’m self conscious about speaking in Korean enough, why you gotta make me get up and speak in a foreign language in front of a bunch of people without even having the chance to prepare! Gah! That one is going to take a really long time to get used to for me.
So interesting. Especially the last one about being asked to get things for others. I feel like I've noticed this to be a thing, but to actually have it happen to me would probably still be jarring
whiteteaandginger I live in America and a Korean guy asked me to purchase cigarettes for him. He was about my age and he was attending the same college as me. Working in a bar in korea for about a year those awkward situations happen a lot like comparing beauty or who can drink more/drinks best
I learned to get used to most of those situations
But the ones that invade my privacy like touching are still difficult and i might never get used to it
Or even being one of the youngest workers i am their "maknae"like they like to call me to joke around
anyway so my coworkers will ask me a lot to do something like go buy them cigarettes or get that knife from the kitchen etc at 1st i was like wait i dont smoke....why would i go 0.o,
or you are standing next to the kitchen door...~.~
Luckily i am not the only foreign worker so if we are buy or selves we will just do rock paper Scissors 가위 바위 보
And group is important so they grew to like a family , and are still caring
The group is important like ,and when you give they will usually give back as much if not more
And i am grateful that i had such a nice working environment for my 1st year in korea
(Ps when you work in korea you kind of need to show you are dedicated or atleast are grateful for the job you have si you are expected to work hard and give your all )
Thank if you read this little long testimony until the end
And thanks Megan Bowen you are a big inspiration
Can you make a video about what Korean think of other countries and their cultures!! Are they open to other cultures
Yeah I would also like to know that
You guys should try watching My neighbor Charles and see how they treat foreigners.
I haven't seen Chonunmigooksaram in so long! It's cool to see her still out and rocking it, she was one of the people that inspired me to learn Korean.
I love you megan ❤❤❤ u look stunning in this video 😍
Can you make a video about if Koreans are open to other cultures? Since they have their own beauty standards I wonder what they think about foreigners..I’m a little curious about that, I wanna hear your thoughts coming from a foreigner yourself that has lived in Korea for several years now
I remember one of my friends once went up to a group of guys and asked which one of us they'd rather date/think is more attractive. Most said I was, which mortified me, mostly because I didn't want her to ask at all. She never let it go, and was always kind of grumpy at me as if it was my fault. So awkward
Wtf what kind of friends would compare each other...like...that... damn korea cold af.
COSMIC DREAMII right...dont be surprised if that person ends up getting plastic surgery or committing suicide. it happened to me over here where said "friend categorized us and grouped me in the ugly group...that really hurt and has never gone away...its ok if I feel ugly about myself but when u hear it from people u trusted it hurts bad. same when it comes from family
popcorn pop wow, i’m sorry to hear that but I’m glad you shared ur story in the comments. Just know that there are alot of insensitive people in the world who find satisfaction in making others feel bad about them selves to feel better about themselves. It’s a superiority complex. Just know that ur blessed to see past that superficial lense. Know that u are beautiful and significant.🌸Keep being you🌷
COSMIC DREAMII aww thank you;) it’s nice to see supportive people in this world especially online:) 💗
A lot of boys ac do that in the Uk as well but most of the time it’s just to fluster the girl
Please please please can you do a skin care tutorial. Your skin looks amazing, your so beautiful. I love your videos xxx
You Are So Cute!!! I've only seen two of your videos and I'm in love. Your smile, your eyes, attitude, you seem just like such a warm person that can be a very good friend. And also I rofled at your stories and the way you told and showed everything was hilarious! Subscribed!!
Gurl that last one was so interesting, legit never heard of that one!! I love your story time snippets too throughout the video
Video idea: have a Korean (local) react to your cultural observations. It's always nice to see how they perceive foreign cultures vs their own.
I love what you're wearing!! Korean fashion is so cool and I like your medals! These stories are always so interesting hahaha!
I enjoy watching your videos and I think it’s pretty cool that you enjoy 2ne1’s songs
Been a fan for a few years. Keep grinding.
Megan, I didn't know you can sing that well....dayum girl! 😍😍😍
Thank you for making this video! Thank you also preparing me for Unexpected situations too! I don’t know about learning one Korean song because I’m still learning Korean.
More singing and/or noraebang please, love your voice!
You are such a cool, smart, funny, beautiful person Megan! Your youtube channel is one of my favorites! 💜✌
Wow, you got sponsored by Audible? You go girl!
I kept zoning out of the video and kept having to replay certain parts cause you look so stunningly beautiful I stop paying attention to what you're saying and kept having to rewind.
But yh, YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL!
I really enjoy your videos! The lighten up my mood and crack me up!🤣
megan you should have another vid with koreans and discuss things they misunderstand about foreigners and give them answers and you share questions with them foreigners have and have them give their own answers to it. You teach us so much , i think it would be cool to see the perspective straight from them
we’re gonna need an updated hair routine and tutorial because you’re stunning wow
I think I’ve just found my new favourite RUclipsr! You’re so funny ahah💓
Omg the beginning where you say “Ahn me dung” (or something like that) WAS SO CUTE ILY
I remember you talking about how you weren't fluent when you made that speech at your old apartment in one of your older videos! Foreigners are the poster children for business startups lmaooo
This hairstyle is your best yet. You look so beautiful and natural.
I've known people who've lived abroad for years and never learned the language of the country they're living in.
Love your videos❤️ your stories are so funny and I really like your personality
OMG BEST SONPSOR EVER!!! THANK YOU MEGAN!!! ♡♡♡
Megan your vids are like. Somehow Therapeutic to me. Even though I can’t really use this info I find it so comforting just listening to you talk. Lmfao. I fr need a friend like you
Megan, I love your channel! It´s so informative, funny and entertaining
she’s got such a lovely and funny personality omg
I clicked this so fast like... i stopped all i was doing and im like "stop Queen has something to say!", i love your necklaces megan
thanks for watching and supporting!!
Love you, Megan!!!! 💗💗💗
Aside from this video, your hair is looking soo bomb 😫❤️
That intro.. 😂👌🏻 haha, Megan I love your video’s! Can you please make some more mukbang video’s? I would love some recipes 😁 greets from Belgium 🇧🇪
Aw that 2ne1 clip made me think of your norebang videos! I wish you did one of those again!
Ooooh I want to know more about the business start up programs!! (5:35) How intriguing!
Another great video, Megan. I'm so thankful you are sharing all these topics on RUclips and I hope that you have great health and happiness. ^_^
i love hearing your pov on korean culture! thanks for making this vid ^^
Megan, I love your videos. I'm really glad I found you on RUclips, I love your happy positive personality, it makes my day. :)
HAHA THE STARE!!!! That happened to me on the subway in seoul last week when i was visiting my friend! There was a college/high school guy and he was just staring.....for a full 10 minutes haha my friend and i felt soooo awkward!! hahahahaha
thats because your are attractive. hehe
Yeah you're beautiful I would stare too sorry 🤣🤣
Cool story bro 🙄
@@lyssab6466 thanks for reading,, broooo 😘
"why dont you take a picture!"- would be one of the answers in north america lol
This new hair hunty 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 yassssss Queen. My wiiiiigggg
Megan, if you’re reading this, you are amazing! You are so funny and your videos are the best like this but you’re just sitting there talking and I’m so entertained. Anyways I admire so much how you just moved to another country all by yourself and you are really putting yourself out there. You have a lot of dedication.
You're videos are always giving me positive energy! 💜💜💜
Your singing voice is so pretty Megan!
WOW! How is it possible that Megan has got even better looking.... She was gorgeous anyway, but she is even more STUNNING!
Megan you are still just as funny as the day I subscribed :) I love all your videos
I always love these kinds of videos! I learn so much and they're really entertaining ♥
I love Megan’s videos❤️ they just make my day!
I thought it was odd since we were both near the gas station, but after hearing Megan say it’s common in Korea I feel better now. Plus he was muscular and fine! 😅
10:50 lmao omg the staring would get me too and omfg when you said they would sometimes walk closer to get a better look LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Ay dios mio I would stare back for a bit but then I would run away lol
Megan I love your videos like I watch all the time , I have a request for you . Could you do more outside videos like going to cafes and cool places in Korea I would totally love that 🙏
I've been binging on your videos and its making me want to study the language
Thank you for this advice! I've been teaching here for a few months and still was not prepared for the office parties - lol
And I know that a karaoke night is going to happen soon. Let me go ahead and brush up on some of my favorite kpop groups ;-)
You're so pretty 🤗.. I haven't watched your channel in so long and forget how much I like it.
I love your videos because I'm planning on moving to South Korea in the future so this is all just preparing me for the obstacles that I'm going to face. Thank you!!! :)
So intelligent ; legit you surpass so many on so many levels. Hilarious and beautiful too
I feel you... I especially having a hard time responding to 한국어 잘하네~ I'm so confused between "no, I'm still studying" or "thanks, I know" every single time.
i love these videos, it would be so cool if you could get a korean friend and discuss these cultural differences with them
I just love your stories.... you have a soothing voice... and it's always entertaining
Hugzzzz from Indianapolis. Love your new hair. Its bomb... your journey to the the green card is so inspiring
Just love u 💜💜💜💜💜💜
I’m getting ready to move to Korea- next year- for teaching, and have been binge watching your videos. They make me feel a lot better about getting ready to step into a new culture. 😊
good luck! i hope you have a great time :)
question tho, if you like living/teaching in korea enough, do you think you'll stay longer than your designated time?
Not sure, I haven’t accepted any positions yet but am in the process of getting my certification. I’ve been told by the team who helps us apply and secure jobs that most jobs in South Korea have a 12 month contract and if it goes well on both ends you can be asked to re-up. I’m excited about it!
so if you enjoy it, do you think you will stay longer?
Yeah, I can see myself staying for longer. Who knows what the future holds 😊
I want more videos of Korean pronouncing Americans names
God the how do you speak Korean so well happens literally EVERY DAY. I just kind of laugh nervously and say its because I studied Korean in college to just move onto the point of the conversation because I dont mind answering but it really does slow you down!
thank you for explaining the "Korean sound of approval" ... an older Korean lady made that sound to my baby while smiling so i knew it was a compliment but had never encountered it before!
I've been watching your video for a while and was thinking of visiting Korea for a vacation. What do your recommend as the fasted way of learning the language and best vacation spots.
The thing I am most worried about that I heard is the food sharing
