As an owner of 2001 explorer gmc. The screened windows in the back are PRICELESS….they dropped the option…camping w screeded windows is fantastic…doesn’t get hot ..no mosquitoes ..great breezes…van is a ten
@lizesquer4849 I just bought a 2003 gulf stream conversion express on 7/2. I think that's when you commented. Mine is not leather, but extremely clean 2 owner (maybe family) and 86,000 miles for $5000. Under body was clean and can see it was maintained more than adequately. And it happens to be green. I got lucky or divinely sent.(green is my favorite color). I am getting a few things fixed, like the 3rd row is stuck. I don't think it's electric. The electric side mirrors need electric again and recharge the air. It's cool not cold. But heck, it's a 21 year old van. Body condition is very good, if not excellent.
I own one that's almost identical to yours with the EXPLOYER Co package. Same great condition, same make, same layout and color but no sunroof. It was my 30th Wedding Anniversary gift for Weekenders and/or Fishing Trips. I do have 12V outlets (several places) in the second seat area in (middle cargo area) and in the rear area where the jacks are located inside the little door area on the side. The 12V Vacuum works off of that 12V outlet as well as the other 12V outlets. There should be a Inverter (300 Watts or 500 Watts) on the floor near the window under the Cargo area seating on the driver's side wall. Look for those hookups there. It's a real honey, it will be good to you with regular maintenance checks. Oh! And your rear view mirror has rear view backup view and other vision modes too like Picture In Picture for viewing the Cargo Areas for the Driver.
Hi Angus.Don’t know what you paid for your van but you got the deal of the century finding a low mileage, one owner van. We found a 2004,one owner, low mileage Cobra hightop near home. We did not know how popular these vans are until we bought ours. I will have to follow you as you replace the tv & add USB charging ports etc. Other than that ours will stay stock. The 5.3 motor is awesome. We just drove from Arizona to Massachusetts and it ran & rode so smooth. By for now & enjoy the van. 👍
I was thinking about building a stealth camper van, but I think I might pull the trigger on a similar van like yours. I see one in my area, not as nice as yours, but it is a Starcraft version. I really don't know the difference, but with these vans, I really don't need to do anything to it. I can especially use it for work where I can just sleep in the van after a long shift at the hospital.
I show people these all the time. They like them and think they're awesome but still go get the boring old 😴 suburban. However, once someone gets a chance to test drive and see it in person, they want one. I think the reason they aren't so popular is the lack of knowledge they are out there. Of all the people I've shown, not one knew they existed. Also, look up Paul Sherry and the Bear Lake super store (no, not in California). I think those are the right names. Those two companies specialize in these vans. However, I do think both are in the rust belt. More expensive, they are but newer as well. Oh, and one of the either GMC or Chevy can tow 9,500lbs-10,000lbs (considered to be an engineering marvel at the time of conception for what it is and can do for a 3500 van) depending on whether or not you buy the Quigley 4x4 option (yes offered in 4x4 from explorer). Note: You may want to look up the Explorer walk through video. It's very informative on what they do and how they do it all. They also have a diesel option for those who want one in diesel. Okay, well, as you can see by my rambling on, I like them, lol. Best of luck to you in your travels. 👍👍👍 P.S. Hint those custom van stores are major competitors even though they are not close by. Quigley 4x4 All The Way.
@@chrisosborne3679 From my understanding the new vans are identical to the 2003 and up. I dont see why it wouldn't be a direct fit. But I could be wrong
Well done, Lad. Well bloody done. This video is now 2yrs old, so Im curious- Do you still own it? If so, any regrets? I am kinda concerned w/ the ease of parking this bitch in the tight garages throughout my city.... But they're sooo overlooked by ppl these days, & if you don't know, when u have the shades up, music on (with 17 speakerind blowing spund system) these absolutely have the comfort & luxury feel of traveling in a private jet. Especially w/ the electronics all upgraded for 2025. So I am merely being patient & looking for a low mileage, ever so gently used one, for at or less than $20,000. Preferably 1 owner. In the meantime, I'm happy with my '08 Honda Element AWD. If my kids aren't w/ me, I'm always riding my Suzuki Burgman 650 anyway. Thatll probably change when I find my dream ConVan. Or at least til the fun of a new ride wears off.
i luv these vans theyre so luxurious and ride so well and offer so much more u got one hell of a deal with only 25,000 miles xcellent van
For me, getting a conversion van instead of a Suburban, is a no brainer. It cost about the same, but you get twice the vehicle

Its amazing that you can buy a cheap 2005 explorer that looks exactly like a 2023 model
Well the thing is that in those days they were Well made and companies had pride in their master piece of a vehicle 🎉
They are the same body from 2003 to present.
Very nice find.
Who am i kidding 🎉just found one today in same condition....paid $20grand ,,its a steal and congrats 🎉
The rear is like a private jet. It amazes me that these conversion vans are not popular
L❤ve those vans, 🎉

Price would be so helpful. Congrats on your find!
Wondering if you still have the mobile trac satellite
Yes I do... I'm planning on removing it eventually, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
I suggest you swap out the front and rear bumpers with ones from a newer explorer from a parts yard. Would make it look like a brand new van.
Is it just a swap? Or do you have to modify anything?
