The Stray Cats (Brian Setzer on guitar and vocals, and his mates on a slapping bass and a simple drum kit) had hits early eighties. Later he formed the orchestra. Another must do hit song by the Stray Cats is the Stray Cat Strut. This is really feel good rockabilly music.
Way back in the 1980s, I was playing with my band in a club in Massapequa, NY, called Heckle & Jeckles , and in walks Brian Setzer. Back then he was in a great band called the "Stray Cats." Even at that young age, he was just about the best rockabilly guitarist on the planet. Later on he played with Robert Plant and now his own orchestra. He seemed like a very good guy. He was recommended to see our band by his brother who had been at an earlier show of ours. This was such an honor.
I have seen Brian Setzer and Orchestra two times. They used to do a Christmas tour and they were always terrific. And yes, people would show up in 50's period costumes and dance in front of the stage.
Fantastic reaction! Brian Setzer first released this song in 1981 with his band, The Stray Cats. The were a great rockabilly-revival group! A song that was original to the Brian Setzer Orchestra that I would recommend for you is "Let's Live it Up". Great song!
This was at the Montreal Jazz Festival. I didn't see this show but I've been to that festival dozens of times and it's fantastic. 300 free outside events alone of bands you have never heard of and some of the biggest names in jazz at the main outside stage, then there's the ticketed events. Fantastic festival!!!!!
Late hours in the early 80s, you could say I was barhopping through a local university strip. Live rockabilly music could be heard rocking from the open doors of a game hall full of pinging pinball machines and primitive video games. Making my way to the back room and source of the music, I was surprised that less than a dozen people were listening to the throw back stylings and homage to the 50s rockabilly heroes. Basic big guitar, snare, and spinning upright bass, they were having a fun time despite the sparse audience. Oh, free to get in. Tip the hat. Only a few weeks later the Stray Cats had 2 MTV hits and were back playing a sold out 1600 seat concert hall. Great shows, both times.
Missed a chance to see him in Montreal at the jazz fest in the 90's. That night i went to a concert featuring B. B. King with Buddy Guy with my dad + brother. I did get to see this full concert on PBS at a later date. B. B. and Buddy were amazing, but had we chosen Brian we would have been just as satisfied.
I loved Stray Cats, the first time I heard them. Brian Setzer really owns his own sound. Class act, and I really love watching the two of you get excited about hearing something new that sounds good. Good music won’t be forgotten by younger generations, especially with people as yourselves doing these reactions. From the Mark Twain’s boyhood hometown, Hannibal Missouri, thank You
🇬🇧 Lead singer was in a band in the 80s & had a hit with this song in 1981. They were called The Stray Cats. Please please please listen & watch that version, maybe from a "Top Of The Pops" (A chart show that was on in the UK for many a year). I would love it if you reacted to it on here. But even if you saw it by yourselves, then gave us your opinion in one of your other videos. ❤ 🎼
Ha ha. Awesome Guys. This group was my first concert as a young teen(STRAY CATS)..ultra fun Classic... Saw them in 1983.... Will Never Forget. 3 piece Band that SHOOK THE BUILDING... So glad you did this. GREAT MEMORIES....Oh. And I DEFINITELY got the OFFICIAL CONCERT T-SHIRT....
One of my top 4 guitarist behind Stevie Ray, Frank Marino and Jimi Hendrix Well there are probably ten others in list but Setzer is unique and can crush it
MAN - I must be behind - ANOTHER one I missed from you-guys!! LOVE THIS BAND!!! This song was actually one of the songs the Stray Cats original recorded...and, he's playing it with his orchestra, at a later date.... As others have mentioned: Brian Setzer was in the Stray Cats - loved their song Stray Cat Strut....but, his Orchestra - SUCH GREAT SWING-BAND SOUND!! ANY song by the BSO was GREAT, as far as I'm concerned! LOVE THIS SOUND!! SO much FUN!!! :)
Oooooooh you really need to see Stray Cats - Runaway Boys (Live At Montreux 1981). That's rockabilly to the max :) (and sweat everywhere) Just raw, guitar, base and a drum. (ps. he also had a cameo in Back to the Future 1 :)
You know you're bad ass when you have a guitar in the Smithsonian (Brian does) I love the Brian Setzer Orchestra! If you like these guys check out Big Bad VooDoo Daddy!
I really like all the stuff Brian Setzer has done. First with "The Stray Cats" in the old rockabilly style & then with the big band style with his orchestra. Nice that he brought back some nostalgia for the older music.
Put it on your bucket list to learn to jive try Ronnie Dawson ( Just Rockin and Rollin ) / the Warren Brothers ( She Wants To Rock ) Becky Hobbs ( Rockin' and Rollin and Raisin Hell )
I would suggest watching Brian Setzer with his old band Stray Cats performing their hits 'Rumble in Brighton', 'Ubangi Stomp', 'Stary Cat Strut' and many more live in London rather then his big-band-adventures, which in my view doesn't do their old work justice. I'll place the links in the comments.
How about listening to a classic big band song? I believe you would both enjoy this one. I suggest "Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing)" by Benny Goodman and His Orchestra: ruclips.net/video/mWV8aRCdLCA/видео.html
Still making people happy, still having fun. More than most people can say. A lot of us who were around back in the day like to occasionally revisit those performances, and those who weren't now have the opportunity to discover them. Would you prefer they just be forgotten? What about House of Pain "Jump Around" or Ram Jam "Black Betty" - or dozens of others who have come and gone, but left a bit of a legacy?

With Lee Rocker and Slim Jim Phantom. My brother bought the single
I’d add Bring it Back Again.
Stray Cat Strut (Official Music Video) is a BLAST! From very early '80's. Hope you guys react to it.

The Stray Cats were amazing 👏....Real rock n roll😼😼

Setzer is a genius. If he plays it, I'll listen. Definition of cool. So talented as are his band mates and orchestra mates. Outstanding.
I love these guys. Brian Setzer is a great bandleader as well as guitarist
love it,,,, Keep the rock n Roll going.
I always smile during your reactions. Thank you and have a wonderful day.

That is real "Rock N Roll".

I saw Brian in concert last February. Awesome show!
Listen to his Christmas songs real good as well
Brian is from the original band, The Stray Cats, who are touring now and I’m going to see them in August! Can’t wait!

These guys learned how to play instruments. No sticks in a computer and thinking you're a musician.❤
Stray Cats ❤ Rockabilly sound!!
Brian Setzer great on his guitar.

I saw them at House of Blues in New Orleans around 1996. Great show!
joy joy joy love you guys !
Groovin and Smilin are good things to do. Brian know how to get it done.
Jump Jive and Wail is another fun one to watch by Brian Setzer Orchestra. But you should also Check him out in the Stray Cats.
Yall are great... and the erudite banter is very unique
Rockabilly or Psychobilly, Stray Cats are excellent!

My favorite by this band is The Stray Cat Strut. Really great song!
You are doing what your God brought you two together to do have fun with it bless be
I love Brian Setzer. Excellent guitarist. I saw The Stray Cats back in 1984.

...and, HOORAY for ANDRE for JAMMIN'!!! :) GO, MAN, GO!!!
I've played the original Stray Cats version of this a thousand times, but I hadn't heard the later BSO versions of it. Very cool!
love it
One of my top 4 guitarist behind Stevie Ray, Frank Marino and Jimi Hendrix Well there are probably ten others in list but Setzer is unique and can crush it

We know that you're on to something when we see your heads start nodding almost immediately. Great reaction guys.
Wow. This 😮 love it one shoulder lower than the other, feet moving lol 😊😊
That vintage Gretsch he's playing is worth about $250,000.
All that.
I myself I have is today. Love your work. Very brave.
My wife and I took swing dance lessons. It is so much fun.
You all ways play te best good to see you bless be

Foot-stompin' music!

Check out the stray cats another great band from the late 70s. Ty
Put it on your bucket list to learn to jive try Ronnie Dawson ( Just Rockin and Rollin ) / the Warren Brothers ( She Wants To Rock ) Becky Hobbs ( Rockin' and Rollin and Raisin Hell )
This was absolutely amazing. BUT, honestly, I still prefer the original version, if I had to choose.
Bonzo did that with only one Kick drum!🤷🏻♂️
This is really great. I like when they were a stripped down trio better - even more raw energy then. Check out the original trio version of this song.
The fight line is a man’s thing! 😵💫😡
You two cat's should have gotten up and shaked a leg!!
Friends Ren has a new video out - Back on 74 / Message in a Bottle retake

Here's a totally unrelated suggestion that I think you might enjoy: Let's Work Together, by Canned Heat.
How about listening to a classic big band song? I believe you would both enjoy this one. I suggest "Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing)" by Benny Goodman and His Orchestra: ruclips.net/video/mWV8aRCdLCA/видео.html
It’s a Club sandwich.
This is not the original. They’re older here and adding a lot more to the song since it’s live.
It's too bad that horns have disappeared from what they call " music " these days .
Sounds nothing like the radio version, but ok (people who recommend these for first time listens are just strange)
they had a FEW hits it the 80s ... nothing for 40 years ... and now the SAME songs (yawn)
You the guy sitting and pouting off to the side?
your avoiding the main topic - am i right - or am i wrong ?
